FA 3.5 is Great bang for the Buck

I have played all flight sims that are online. IL-2 Storm, Msn Flight Sim ect and FA 3.5 is the best online game with the MOST players you can find in one room flying at the same time. 160 people flying, dogfighting , bombing, with a great set of fighters for 5 countrys of WW2 fighters. I was there when Aol was running its flight sim. Yes there are a few games out there with better graphics but they dont tuch the game play that FA 3.5 has. If you want to try it out for just 19.95 usa for 3 months you will be able to see what im talking about. Most games that dont even come close cost 19$ per month.

Dawn was just breaking as we rose through 15 thousand feet. I checked the formation to make sure everyone was in place. Our formation of 10 17s was fast approaching enemy territory, and we could expect bandits at any time. We did have good cover on this run for a change though. I could just make out the Stangs about 10k above us, and we had a flight of Tempests off our right wing.

The call came over the radio "Bandits high 9 o'clock!". "GRR flight tighten up!" I yelled into my mike.

"More bandits low 12!" someone yelled. All we could do was hope our gunners and fighter cover would keep us safe as we lined up on target.

Radio traffic was nonstop from then on... 5 more minutes to drop, we couldn't break formation. Just then 3 190s came screaming through our formation. Rat's plane, the number 2 slot exploded next to me. I took hits, but not too bad. "I got one!" my top turret gunner yelled as I saw a 190 spiral down across the cockpit window trailing smoke. 4 Stangs came through the formation chasing the remaining 190s down and away. 3 109's came up from below, and Xtreme in the number 3 slot started smoking and fell from formation. "Tighten up guys!" I yelled into my mic again. "It's our only chance, stay tight!"

The Tempest went after the 109s, and we seemed to be clear as we lined up on target, but in the back of my mind, I knew it couldn't last. "Bombs away" I said over the radio, and I started to dive and turn toward home....

If you are into WWII Ariel combat, teamwork oriented games, and just plain ol' fun, this is the game for you. A real person somewhere in the world controls every plane you will see in the skies of FA, and there may be 300+ people in just one Arena!

Bomber formations, Carrier battles, Torpedo runs, taking land by dropping paratroopers, organized Squadron events... these are just the base of Fighter Ace. The bonuses are a fantastic community, great customer service, and friendships that will last a lifetime.

I've played Jaleco/VR-1 WW2 simulators ever since version 1.0 came out in 1997.

I must say that the communities that have sprung up around the various versions of this game, can be rivalled by no other game people can play online.

Where else can you play with the same online freinds, every day for 5 years solid? Playing FA is more like playing with extended family, than against unknown online opponents.

Also, when playing FA, you know that becuase your on a subscription, that your aren't going to get some troublemaker come in and spoil the game for you, just because he can. These types of people get bounced out of the community rather quickly.

The modes of play are unlimited. You can fly bombers, fighters, fighter-bombers. You can attack ships, tanks, other planes, you can take part in real historical scenarios organised by Jaleco and the players, you can team up with friends to organize a combined force of bombers to pound your opponents, you can join one of the many squads in FA and sample the delights of being part of an even better team enviroment.

The graphics are awesome, better than any other free to download game I've ever played, period. And the subscription is cheaper than any of the competition. (take note AH/WB/WW2Online Subscribers).

There simply isn't the depth, and variety available in FA, in any other online capable game ever made. Nothing comes close to FA.

Absolutly Outstanding!!!

Do you like to fly?,,, Then Fighter Ace is the place for you. There is more of everything availible at Fighter Ace, so much so, you have to try it to believe it.
You like to fly alone? You can find a place to do that, just make your own custom arena.
You like to dogfight? Dogfighting goes on in several different arenas, at several different flight modelling levels, from Arcade up to level 10 advanced physics.
You like to fly a bomber and wreak havok? There is many different kinds ranging in size and payload, want a Fighter/Bomber so you can dogfight some, or strap yourself into a Lancaster, or a B17, all is here for you at Fighter Ace.
This game offers the best playability of any flight game BAR NONE. But thats not even the best part..............
Fighter Ace has a few things working in its favour that make it a must for any online flight gamer.
One of those is the community that plays it, probably the most polite and respectful online community there is, which is amazing considering just how competitive it can be. The benefit of being able to pump someone full of lead, instead of lashing out with a keyboard. There are many organized squads, and they are always happy to have someone fly along and help out, many new pilots find homes with these squads, and asking if you can come along and help is a great ice breaker, and always appreciated. There is a fully active newsgroup, for helping each other with PC or game issues, or just for sharing your thoughts and haveing fun.
Keeping it all together, and running smooth, is the best volunteer group any community could ask for, the FAVG(Fighter Ace Volunteer Group), you will generally always be able to find an @FA3 close by to help solve any issue, whether it be an abusive player, help in setting up game, or flight training. The FAVG has set a very high standard, and the community very much appreciates thier efforts, so much so, that the community itself supports thier efforts and helps out when they can. It is not uncommon to see a new pilot being helped by a community member.
The programmers are continually making additions, and improvements to the game, new arenas, historical battles, fixing issues brought to them by the community, in short, this game will NEVER stagnate, it will always be improving in 2 ways, by the new members that join us, and by the countless hours the people who put it together spend, making it even better still, which is hard to imagine, something so good, getting even better.
Id recommend you at least try it, you sure wont regret it.

A real review

Well, looking at the reviews it looks like most is seasoned FA players who are pretty biased.

I got this game as a christmas present from a relative who knows i played Aces High in the past.

I would never subscribe to this game unless i had got it for free as i was a AH junkie. In the AH community FA is something for kids only as the flight model is arcade only, Microsoft is involved, graphic does not do a sim and AH has the best community among every sim.

I am very new to FA and have not really been flying sims for the last six month or so it is with some regeret i have to say that everything i heard about FA in the AH community except for one thing is not true.

My oppinion is that FA 3.5 is surperior to AH in most aspects. It is true that FA is what in FA terms would be advanced but the different levels in FA is very good. I like level 7 - 9 best and the fact is that graphics means quite a lot to the total experience. I just love to watch these aircrafts from outside, which sometimes get me killed. The strategy concept, Territorial Combat (TC), is the best i have seen. It is true that in AH i could grab a tank or a ship but the strategic impact is very low. In FA TC you can not survive and win without working in team. The best example of this was a high level room that i think was called "paratroop room" where you could only win scenes by dropping paras on the targets.

The flight models in the higher levels is actually better than AH (my oppinion).

The areas where i think AH is surperior to FA is the community and how it communicate. AH has a very dedicated community that does not spend most of the posts to complain and hit others. My feeling is that a lot of the posts in the FA NG is about that. Despite that the people that fly FA is very very good and there is no problem getting help from people. When i came in i was immediately attacked by someone and he sent a GF to me. I responded by saying to him that this was my first time in FA. He then offered me to go to another room for practice, very nice. This goes to the staff as well.

Another thing that is really bad in FA and very good in AH is the forum. It is really so bad that i dont spend any time there and i know others that put that up as a reason not flying FA. The reason is that I like to be part of the community and read the AH messageboard every day. It is browser based and very easy to access. It is also organized very well with a lot of interesting topics sorted into different forums. This is a major drawback to the FA community as i believe that it makes the game less interested being forced to a tricky and boring non structured news group format. Personally i can not believe that Jaleco doesnt have a similar forum that most other games have.

My review of Figher Ace is that it is a really dangerous game as it has the ability to hook people and destroy relationships. I find my self playing more than i should as it is really good and interesting. The reason why i can not give it a 5 and may loose interest is the forum, which for me is a very important piece of the game play, it [stinks].

Cheers

Alex

Fairly decent game w/ good graphics... But customer service is the worst I've ever seen. The servers for online play are slow and full of lag. Suggest you spend your money elsewhere.

Even though FA3.5 has possibilities, I can honestly say that in it's current state it has too many bugs to be enjoyable. It seems that Jaleco rushed this product out too quickly. The game has been out for several months and still there has been no patches to fix any of the current problems. The constant scoring issues as well as the ineffectiveness of any of the game designers to keep the players apprised of any progress has driven many long time players and squads to other online games. I hope Jaleco can resolve the game issues soon.

This game was given to me as a gift by a friend. I can honestly say that this game has a long way to go before I would recomend it to anybody. The game came with no instructions and or documentation. There is an online file you can read but I would have to say that it way too vague. Graphics are ok, but not as good as IL-2. The worst problem was with the game play. The servers are horrible including lag and random dropouts and disconnects. There is a help room, but after waiting for half an hour trying to some help I left. I also have to caution parents with young children (as I) about the language used in some of the arenas. Even with system operators monitoring the room, this still continued. Too bad, because it looks like this game could be fun.

Dissapointing Game/ Customer Service

Even though the graphics are fair, the most annoying part of this game is server stability. I could not stay connected for more than few minutes at a time(and I'm on a T1 connection). When I did eventually find a sysop to help me, he tried to tell me that the connection problems were all my fault. After I had explained that I never have have any problems with any other games, he became defensive and rude. And this guy represents this company??? I won't reccomend this game to anybody.
