The Last great game in the serise

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 4

This game was wonderful. Please note that I said WAS because by now the cheating has gotten so bad on this installment that it is as bad as one and two.

Plus

You feel like you are really working for your kills as opposed to Delta Force 1 and 2 when you just got a big machine gun and blew everyone away. When you kill someone in this game you feel like you have accomplished something.

Minus

While the graohics are great(even now) it can be a little coppy

Overall-By all means protect yur CD key at all cost, if you lose it you will have to bu another copy.

What is so cool about this?

It might be possible that the multi-player would make this more fun to play and improve my rating however, I doubt I will spend any time bothering to get good at this game. All the missions are virtually identical. You start far away from a small group of buildings, prison, or town. You snipe your way into the enemy camp picking off the few wondering sentries (that look like sticks from a distance)and possibly thinking that this could be kinda cool. As you enter the buildings you are reminded of of the graphics of the most primitive first person shooters. The worst part is the enormously ignorant AI. While you toss a grenade into a room killing the enemy, the enemy in the adjacent room ACT LIKE THEY ARE DEAF DUMB AND BLIND. On one night mission I shot about four times at a guy. Obviously the first three missed. With bullets flying by this guys head, within inches, he never moves. Most of the time when I get killed, multi-player or mission, I never know who or what killed me. WOW, WHAT FUN! Heres the best part. On one mission the dead bodies of the enemy became suspended in mid air, obviously a program glitch. LOOKS REAL STUPID. Playing missions with a partner I noticed that sometimes me or my partner cannot kill the enemy. You keep shooting but they don't die. Finally after getting killed a couple of times the game starts to work.

True 3D Acceleration!

I played DF forever when it first came out but didn't bother to buy DF2 due to the lack of quality 3d acceleration. The DFLW demo is one of the best I've seen. The graphics are awesome, and the game finally plays smooth. I will be first in line on November 2 when this baby is released.

This series started with Delta Force One, in November of 1997. Delta Force one was a great game for its time and hundreds to thousands of people that would otherwise be doing something outside became addicted. Delta Force two was a big disapointment, having very slow internet gameplay and requiring a supercomputer. Delta Force 3(landwarrior)however, has just made up for Delta Force 2. If you like 1st person shooters and being able to do just about anything in a game with superb graphics and the best online gameplay in any game out today, then you will love Land Warrior.

Warning: This game is extremely Addicting.

This game is great. It encompasses the great strategic gameplay of the first two games puts it in a visual package that lives up to modern standards. I whole-heartly reccommend this game to anyone who even remotely enjoyed the first two games, or anyone who respects a well-designed high quality product. Keep the Faith: If you play them, they will be made.

What Can I Say...It's a GREAT Game!!!

I have all of the Delta forces and nothing compares to it. At first I had a little problem with the controls but after you learn them it's easy. This isn't like rainbow six but I would also recomend that if you like bringing down different terrorist organizations in cantained areas. The game play is as smooth as silk the sounds are are so relestic it sounds like you are their. The grafics are sooo good you can almost the terrorist eye lashes. On occasion I get annoyed(it takes alot to annoy me)at the game but it just keeps on pushing me to get right back in the game...

Great Game But It's Time Is Up

I too have been playing the DF series since day 1. This game was by far the best. Yes, it did require a bit more system resources than the first too, BUT, it finally offered accelerated graphics whereas the first two did not.

If you have a decent system, running this game in an 800 x 600 or even 1024 x 768 resolution is feasible and looks great.

Many have complained about the lack of grass, but some would argue that contributed to more lag anyways. New features such as the characters, especially the medic, were great and indeed impacted strategy.

All of the complaints about the AI are moot, let's face it - the die hards who by this game care nothing about single player - it's all about hopping online and and whacking someone at 800 meters with a sniper rifle powerful enough to blow away cinder blocks.

Sadly though, LW's time is up, cheats have invaded, and it is simply getting old - THERE IS HOPE - DF4 is right around the corner.

See you all in Task Force Dagger - look for the guy wearing the *LID tags.

This game is amazing i have played delta force 2 and it lag to much now in the new game it runs smooth and it has great new features like you can be a medic and help your team out by saving them on the spot! There are new maps and great indoor and outdoor areas! You can even go under ground in some of the maps! And you can play multi player online with other players all over the world. Whats great about the new novaworld(Multi player) is it records all of your kills deaths and rank so you can compete to be the best in the world. After you get good at this great game you can join squads and work together to accomplish a goal like getting the flag or staying in the zone for a certain amount of time without being killed. What i also like about this game is that instead of blood and guts flying every where its a couple shot a little red smoke comes out and there dead so its realilistic and doesnt show peoples heads flying off. My favorite part is the team work you can use voice over net to talk to your team mates and now thats why its my favorite game and should be yours to!!

ps. See ya on the battle field!

WHAT A WINNER! If you like high adreniline, sniper, ground commando, or heavy gunner tactics (manny more), you'll love this game. YUP, it's a keeper. When being a sniper on a shell shocking high preformance multiplayer with astounding graphics, go high in the mountains, and start shooting! But there is also a competitive campaign, in Egypt, (HAH! i'm still on the first level) and amazing exotic, colorful places with birds, trees, fortresses, and an astounding aray of weapons, you can almost do anything you can imagine.

Awesome Infantry Simulation

Delta Force Land Warrior is a significant improvement over Delta Force 1 and 2, which I also enjoyed greatly. The Voxelspace 3D terrain engine in DFLW is smoother, faster, cleaner and prettier than ever. 3D acceleration of buildings and characters introduced in DF2 and revised here is a bit crude by FPS standards, but it works well in the context of this large, open game. Overall gameplay is fantastic.

As in earlier versions, weapon physics modeling is excellent. The game has wind drift, accurate ballistic trajectories (i.e. projectile drop), good footstep and weapon sounds. Characters have different strengths. Gunners can spray without much recoil effect; snipers have no scope drift; other players can swim or knife better. A new Medic character can heal other players for up to 30 seconds after they fall in combat. My favorite is sniping where you must make good use of the terrain for cover, concealment and movement, or you die. Despite the specialization, every soldier needs to have good general skills in order to survive. This is a game where you can snipe from half a mile away and engage in Close Quarters Combat with a submachine gun all in the same mission. Fog, haze or darkness add their own challenges and benefits in some maps.

Like all of the Delta Force series, sounds are very useful tactically, but as before their quality could be a little better. It seems as if the sound designers deliberately chose to exaggerate some sounds to make them more distinctive. For example the squad machine guns are still too loud and the AK-47 sounds really tinny. But at least you can immediately tell what they are when you hear them, which is perhaps the point. Using your ears is as essential as using your eyes in this game, but I feel more life-like weapon sounds would be an improvement. This is not meant to be a very strong criticism; just a request for more realism. The sound technology is very well implemented and highly useful during gameplay.

The single player missions are ok, but for me the best part of the game is multiplayer online games. Playing along side and against other humans is a blast. You can play on NovaWorld servers run by NovaLogic, or run your own server. Some of the NovaLogic servers keep statistics of your performance and you can get promotions, medals, etc. as you play. Non-"stat hosted" servers are a little more responsive to play on, but your kills and deaths don't count. Multiplayer games include deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag, attack defend, team king of the hill, and flagball which is like CTF with a single re-appearing flag. Team games often feature good camaraderie, useful tactical messages from other teammates, and a good time for all.

Regarding cheats and bugs, NovaLogic has been pretty prompt in releasing patches to fix these. DFLW is relatively free of bugs and cheats and Nova's handling of them is definitely improving.

Delta Force Land Warrior is an excellent game. It's different from Unreal Tournament, Quake and other "bunny-hopping, rocket launcher down the hall" games. DFLW has a special place as a unique gaming experience, and it's one of the best Infantry Combat sims do date.
