Top notch atmospere and architecture

Not since Thief and System Shock have I played a game that held me in such suspense. Beautiful architecture and atmosphere throughout. Great artwork.

The gameplay is paced well, but on numerous occasion I felt pushed by the designers. For example, I would enter a door only to find that I could not return, or once killed I would be forced to watch the animations of me being killed (some of these are pretty amusing the first few times) and level load to the beginning of an area before I could quickload the where I wanted to go. The experience was very linear.

Overall, great game.

Story , Fun, Graphics: The Best 07-01!

We're in the summer doldrums, not much good out there. Undying is the best action game this year, but Max & Wolfenstein are coming. Undying is not really scarrier than Half Life. Great graphics, fun to play and runs smooth. Best story yet, if you read everything. Downsides are: constant loadings, steep computer requirement, no gore filter, rather short. NOT FOR LITTLE KIDS! You can learn the ropes on easy setting, and then rock on medium difficulty. Has some replay value. Alice was good, but Undying is much better! The body count is low, relative to Unreal, Quake, Serious Sam. Part action, part FPS-you might only die every half hour or so, instead of twice a minute. No hard puzzles, no jumping, not much swimming, no rocket packs! The weapons don't suck, like Alice. I needed a walk-through to kill the 5 bosses, otherwise it would take some time to learn. Always demo before you buy...

Hmm...er....

First off I would like to congratulate EA for making a SUPERB trailer for Undying, hell, I was caught off guard, I began my immediate purchase on my road for supah-dupah disappointment.
It's not scary, I think it's even funny. The characters arent scary, the SFX SUX, the textures are almost too wide, its ridiculous. I really tried hard to be scared but I just couldnt. I tried to enjoy it but I failed. It's like playing Counter Strike while on PCP.

I have many games but this is one of the worst, I have a new
PC with all the advanced bells and whistles. I was really getting into this game, great graphics, easy commands, and after
approx half hour of play [CRASH] got tech help, tried again
things are going great [CRASH] after several more attempts I gave this game to someone with perhaps more skills than I have.
too bad this game seemed so promising.

I was really looking forward to playing this game since I saw the previews on my Alice Game. I am utterly beside myself.

This is NOT the platform this game needs. Unless you have the ULTIMATE GAMING PC, DO NOT GET THIS GAME!
I feel that this game would be best in an actual Game platform, like PS2 or XBox or something like that.

I was tooling along tonight, and WHAM! The game shut off, due to errors that were preformed. BAH! Of course I am running it at the lowest graphic intense setting, so this doesn't really surprise me.

So here I sit, wallowing in my misery. This game would Rawk if it was in a different format.

There is a lot of conversation that goes on, and you can't really move past it like you can in other games, so that kind of stinks. The one feature I did enjoy though, was that you could save the game as you went, that is always a big factor for me.

So -
Don't get this game if you have a sucky system. Only get this game if it is specifically set up for gaming, but even then, it might not work. My husbands system is set up for gaming, because well, that is his life. But I digress...

Use caution, and really think about it before you go spend bucks on this game... Really...

Top 5 after all these years

I've played many games and Undying is still in my top 5. I've played through about 6 times since 2002 and could say that I will again. While more modern games may have more advanced graphics (Undying's are very good), they do not rival the story and interesting gameplay Undying offers.
The entire premise is captivating and unfolds neatly. There are a great variety of environments and monsters throughout so it never gets boring. The controls and two handed spells/weapons are very unique and I haven't seen another like it.
Many games focus on graphics or stick close to a genre. Undying put a unique spin on the FPS and is simply one of the most memorable games I've ever played. To put it into perspective, my top 5 games are: Half Life 1, Resident Evil 4, Far Cry, MOH Allied Assault and Undying. These are the 5 games I would take on a desert island. Along with Salma Hayek.

This will give you bad dreams...

I absolutely love this game. I have played nearly all of the FPS games and the combination of puzzles, investigation, graphics and sounds effects is the best so far (for my tastes anyway.) This is a very spooky game best played in the dark. The only downsides are the long load times and the lacking usability in the controls, but the incredible graphics blow me away every time I play this and I am more than willing to withstand the short waits. This sort of reminds me of a cross between the Myst-like reality graphics with the fun of a FPS. I hope there is a sequel.

Installation was a breeze and the intro captivating! I find this game very challenging yet possible. I love the graphics and the audio. It is very interactive, I feel like I am really right there and am totally emotionally involved. Thanks for the total experience!

1st of all, CBU is a very publicized game and it was promoted long before it was released. The game utilizes an enhanced version of Unreal Tournament game engine which is visually stunning but requires a stable mediocre station with at 450 mhz to enjoy. The game is very rich and detailed and characters are also convincing and mix with the evil plot. Sincerly, i believe that the game is intended for lower end systems because the polygon count on many characters is very low and most of the enviroment is very cubish. The game's horror theme is very well designed and the maps remind me of J.R.R Tolkien's maps which are Top Notch quality. It has a rich array of ancient weapons that are similar to the modern FPS weapons such as Tibettan War cannon which is similar to grenade launcher of some short ranged kind. The main innovation is the integration of spells which effect your own character and enhance your abilites or attack your enemies. A weak point in the game is the physics engine which enables you to jump of a very high place without getting hurt and the fact that you can jump for miles. My last single remark regarding the game will be that there is no gore at all, the enemies don't even fly away in agony when they are hit by a missile, they just blow and disappear or just lie down on the floor so this element is very poor. CBU is a very good game but it has no real quantom leaps and it's powered by a very powerful game engine which enhances the gaming experience greatly, without considering it's minor flaws it's very well designed and polished game and it will be remebered as a 95% creation. Enjoy!
