Despite some minor short comings, I find the latest installment in the Halo series to be every bit as fun as its predecessors. No, the graphics aren't as good as Gears of War. Sometimes the voice acting is a little hard to hear. The storyline gets a little convoluted, but I don't care. I was a little disappointed to see that the graphics are only marginally better than Halo 2, but I don't care. Once I started playing I totally enjoyed myself. The gameplay is still engrossing, challenging, and just plain fun. I will say that the Flood looks much more detailed and interesting than in the past. I really like some of the new vehicles (especially the chopper). Most of the weapons are the same, but that doesn't really detract from the game. If you like Halo, I don't see why you wouldn't like this installment.
Brilliant graphics, smooth gameplay, awesome on-line

Though the game isn't perfect, it is a brilliant addition to a very popular title. Graphics are gorgeous and fluid, controls are smooth, the difficulty settings get challenging on "Hard" and "Legendary". The new vehicles and weapons are also very enjoyable. The new "device" use is also a nice addition.
My only complaints are minimal and minor annoyances: in game, you hear voices which slows things to a crawl as your mind hears them...I didn't understand why they chose that effect. The other is that you can't save multiple "solo" games...do developers realize that more than one person can play an X-box 360 in a single household?

This game is great the story is totally awesome. I just wanted to add a little something if ya'll already didn't know. People have been complaining about the ending and how crappy it was. Well my first play through was with three other buddies on Legendary. Just to let ya'll know a little secret there's more to the ending after the credits roll once you beat it on Legendary. And this ending implies that Master Chiefs adventures aren't over. But the next game definitely won't be called "Halo" well it shouldn't be from what my eyes witnessed. So brace yourselves cuz this game is definitely not the last.
THIS SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!!

Ah yes the most anticipated game for quite some time, the legendary Halo 3.
Halo 3 continues the tales of Master Chief after the anti climactic ending in Halo 2. The game takes a leap into the next generation of gaming consoles (Xbox 360 title only).
With such a large leap we've seen many game series really take off into a whole new experience, Such as the Call of Duty series still grabbing appeal for its step up. Halo 3 really didn't advance too much from Halo 2's game play mechanics, or stray too much from its online multiplayer which truly isn't a bad thing (modifications make it much easier online but not much better).
The story isn't so much deep as it is captivating how's that? The game throws you into amazing looking battle fields screaming for intense action, yet you battle it much like a small fire fight. With The technology of the 360 you'd think the game would serve up to its supposed "epic factor". To a small degree it did, but it treaded so much old ground that after the first run through the Campaign mode it feels stale. On the bright note levels have variety in them and some great cinematic sequences.
The game does hold up to it's well known great in game soundtrack. The music is very plausible, and balances techno/electronic and ambient beats with rockish music from all degrees both smooth and rough. The classical orchestrated parts are truly noteworthy too. Makes for a much greater gamming experience, and proves to pump you up when the battle doesn't. Much of the classic Halo tunes have now been remodified, and being a musician myself trying to rewrite something that's hailed amazing and still keep it fresh and great isn't as easy as throwing on some new instruments and calling it genius.
The game holds a lot of its emphasis in the online/multiplayer department. Online matches are competitive, enticing and generally great experiences with friends or random players. With a variety of new weapons and tactics and new 'equipment' at your disposal fragging another player has never been so satisfying. Now the multiplayer maps aren't necessarily bad, but any Halo 2 veteran will feel disappointed at the lack of creativity and devotion. Recently (as of December) three new maps have been released as Downloadable Content or DLC. This will hopefully hold fans off to the next batch of announced maps.
The quality of the game is superb. Graphically it lacks as a contender against many recent graphical achievements in gaming, but the lighting effects are phenomenal. The sound as i previously mentioned top notch, the controls silky smooth, the welcoming additions, such as 4 player co-op instead of the traditional 2 player, equipment, weapons, forge create a level option, film a clip, save a photo, all great stuff.
Halo only suffers from not living up to its hype. Which is fairly hard when you think about the commercials, the Discovery channel coverage, gamming article, news stations even mentioning it, ambitious countdowns, myriads of fans new and old preordering the title, the products like Mountain Dews "Game Fuel" being released as a marketing aid for the game. So many things made this seem like the most important game in history as if it wasn't even a game at this point, just a stir of anticipation. So while it didn't live up to this (Which i doubt anything really could) it does serve as a exceptional 360 title, and a great game to play with a group of friends.
PS3 fans are a bunch of immature babies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, because you bought a PS3 and don't have any games to play on it, you have to come to the Halo 3 review website and make up fony negative reviews. Wow, high class ladies...high class.
Anyway, this game is everything promised from finished to end. If you have a 1080p tv you are going to love life for the 10 or so hours the campaign takes, and for the hundreds of hours you will spend playing the harroine/multiplayer. Very addictive.
Story is great, cutscenes are great, multiplayer is great, ending is great...Halo 3 is it!!!

An Honest Review of Halo 3

I purchased the Limited Edition of Halo 3, as I always purchase these versions of my favorite games, and it is only $50 here at Amazon (thanks!). Some of these have had some defect with the hub being out of place; this new batch Amazon has is completely fine, to th extent of my knowledge. But on to the review of the game.
The bad will come first: You cannot fly Pelicans or dual-wield swords, and certain weapons have a lower ammo count (this might be a plus as I will tell you later). Also, the campaign is very short and the Easy and Normal modes are a little too easy for many peoples' liking. The story is also not nearly as in-depth as the one from Halo 1, but is a hundredfold better than Halo 2. Looking back on the campaign, I can honestly say that it accomplishes something, and arrives somewhere: a possible closing point, though I doubt it from the after-the-credits ending (sshhhh).
Now for the good: This game is mind-blowingly awesome in multi-player. Maps like High Ground and The Pit are what make this game worth every penny spent. There are dozens of different play modes ranging from Infection to Ninja Juggernaut and the classic Neutral Assault. There are more weapons and vehicles, which is always a good thing, and weapons seem more balanced. The shotgun now comes with a total of 18 slugs, not 36, which was too much in Halo 2, but it now has more of a punch behind it. Then there are firebomb grenades, which explode on impact and catch opponents on fire, killing them. There are also massively powerful "support weapons" such as a turret resembling the one on a Warthog, a similar Covenant variant, and a Flamethrower. The rocket launcher has lost its homing, to be replaced by the Missile Pod; this is a massive support weapon with 8 automatically homing shots, capable of firing in quick succession; only 2 are required to kill a light to medium vehicle, at most. One of my favorite weapons that is a new addition is the Spartan Laser, Splaser for short. It destroys anything in one shot, and rips through it with ease, penetrating and automatically killing anything in its path. The catch is that it takes just shy of 3 seconds to charge, has only 5 shots, and has only a 2x scope.
There are also Achievements in Halo 3, which give you Gamerscore for, say, killing 3 opponents in a Warthog with a Splaser, or doing a Triple Kill with a Sword. These are fun to get, and they give you new armor permutations, which brigs me to another aspect: being able to change the look of the player. You are no longer confined to being in MJOLNIR Mark VI; there are ten types of Spartan heads and 5 types of shoulders and bodies, five of everything for Elites.
Perhaps one of the more intriguing aspects of Halo 3 is Forge. Forge is a new addition which allows you to entirely delete all weapons and vehicles on a map, and place new ones wherever you want. On any level you want. At any time you want, while using the Forge system. You can even put yourself in the level to test its level of fun, and place gametype-specific objects such as Flags or Territories, and test out those modes. With Forge, the possibilities are limitless. You can also create you own custom gametypes, such as a Covenant vs. Human variety I made up, or a special type of Oddball or VIP.
The last new thing I can think of for Halo 3 is equipment. You can now carry objects used with X that perform specific functions, whether they be helpful to you or harmful to your enemies. These include, but are not limited to: the Bubble Shield (makes a stationary bubble round you that cannot be penetrated by weapons or grenades) the Trip Mine (just what it says, also destroys vehicles in one shot) and Invincibility (explains itself, but luckily not found in multi-player for balance reasons).
Oh, and one more thing, as Steve Jobs would say. Let's say you are dual-wielding an SMG in you right hand and a Spiker (new weapon) in your left. You spy a Mauler (new weapon) and want to pick it up. You can now choose which hand to use it in, rather than dropping one, switching it, then dual-wielding. Hardly a breakthrough, but it is appreciated.
The Limited Edition comes in a metal case, and has a hardback book called "Beastarium" which has all the info on all races in Halo 3, including Forerunner and Hunter. It also has a disc of extras. A nice touch.
Good job Bungie, I will be getting both of your Map Packs on December 11th and in Spring, you deserve a pat on the back.
Buy this game, but beware of being addicted and playing for days on end to get that last skull or that one acheivement.
