A seriously tough classic

Take a visit to the classic arcade games, as you are a knight, on a side scrolling, zombie / monster killing quest to save your princess from Lucifer himself. Along the way to Lucifer through eight action packed worlds you pick up different weapons, like the knives, crossbow, torch and various others, to battle zombies, monsters, birds, magicians, wolves, skeletons, ghosts, ghouls and tons of traps. This would be a five star game, if it were not for its huge difficulty! Hundreds of enemies coming at you, no save points (when you die you start at the beginning of the level), and two hits your dead, that spells a short lived play time for younger players. Good graphics, side scrolling platform game.

Classic

Back in the day, Capcom released a side-scrolling action-adventure game that would go onto become a classic. That game was called Ghosts And Goblins. Even today, the game remains a cult classic. It's not surprising that with the arrival of Nintendo's new gaming system, the Super Nintendo, Capcom wished to make a sequel to their NES classic. How does Super Ghouls And Ghosts measure up? Read on for my review.

PROS:
-VERY GOOD GRAPHICS FOR THIS KIND OF GAME. Although this was one of the first games ever made for the Super Nintendo, it remains one of the best LOOKING ones that doesn't use the Super FX chip or advanced computer modeling.
-PLAY CONTROL IS SIMPLE AND TO THE POINT. Jump, shoot, and move. It doesn't get much easier than that to control your character. When it comes to play control, simple is best, and this game demonstrates that beautifully.
-ATMOSPHERE. The game's got spooky music (music is probably my favorite thing about this game), a variety of monsters, and a cool hero character. It's especially funny when your character in armor gets hit and is forced to run around in his underwear.
-COOL ITEMS, OLD AND NEW. The game has the weapons you loved in the first game, like the spear and torch, plus new items like special suits of armor that enhance your abilities.

CONS:
-NOT MUCH DIFFERENT FROM THE FIRST GAME. The first game on the NES was an excellent game for its time, and while this is an excellent sequel, it just doesn't make enough improvements on its predecessor.
-NO BATTERY OR PASSWORD. If you want to complete this game, it's gotta be on one sitting (fortunately, there is a stage select code (NO, I'm not going to give it to you.))
-STILL INSANELY HARD. Take two hits and you're dead. This game isn't nearly as hard as its NES precedessor, but it's still difficult nonetheless, so don't expect a free ride.
-NOTHING REVOLUTIONARY. This is a good game, but it's nothing we haven't seen before.

OVERALL:
Overall, this is an excellent game. If you own a Super Nintendo that's just gathering dust, head down to your local used games dealer and buy this game. If you're a fan of side-scrolling action/adventure games, it's doubtful you'll be disappointed with this one.

I first played this game probly 10 years ago, but from the first time i played it, i knew it was the tightest game ever made for nintendo. It is hard as hell though, and it will definitely take you a grip to get into the harder levels. This game is so hard, it cost me 4 sets of controllers because i have a bad habit of going crazy when i keep dying. The monsters and environments would have to be the weirdest i have ever seen. This game is symbolic fact that there were definitely some weird drugs going around in the 80's. But once you finally do get to the end and beat the last boss and celebrate massively, you might as well sit back down because it seems the Princess has lost her ring in one of the levels and you have to go back and beat them all again. And no, the levels haven't changed a bit, its the exact same thing. Just a little pre-warning. I'm out, 1

It seems everyone who grew up with the Super NES will have memories of Super Ghouls and Ghosts, and particularly, the extreme difficulty. My memory of the game is somewhat blurry, and short. In fact I only ever played the game once. To no one's surprise, I lost in a few seconds. BUT, it didn't seem like the hardest game ever made or anything. According to people I've talked to, I had to play the game for about an hour and THEN I'd realize the game was impossibly hard.

It's fascinating how the difficulty hasn't stopped the game from becoming a classic. When I talk to people about the Super NES Super Ghouls and Ghosts ALWAYS comes up. You just don't forget a game like this.

WOW!

Simply put, this is one of the best games ever made. (and not to mention, one of the more difficult as well.) You play as Arthur and fight off wave after wave of demon's and other beasts and some of the boss fights are just impressive to behold. But just don't expect this to be a game you can beat in one sitting. No matter how much you've leveled up your shields, one hit and you're back to having a pair of boxer-shorts as your only protection. So, despite the difficulty curve some people might have to overcome to enjoy this classic game, as long as you're not the kind of person that would throw down your controller after dying a few times, this game is highly recommended.
