I have purchased every Pro Evolution/Winning Eleven game every since their introduction. I have always been impressed and happy with them and so to christen my new Xbox 360, decided to but the latest version.
I also purchased the version for the PS2 for my brother and the comparisons, in terms of gameplay are minimal. They are virtually identical, in terms of controls, music, graphics (though on my HDTV, the X360 version looks fantastic and has the edge) and so in that respect, I am happy.
What is most disappointing is for the most bizarre reason, there are no customisable features. No longer can you create a new team, make a player, transfer players to other teams nor even save your own goals. On top of that, there are only 5 stadia, and no ways to stamp your own mark on the game.
For the investment on a 20GB hard drive, $60 for the game (and $10 more than the superior PS2 version) I would expect to be able to do all of the above. That is why I purchased a next generation console.
Why not? Only the bigwigs at Microsoft know. It seems with a few games on here, you cannot customise the games as before.
I suspect that Konami are planning to release a download via Xbox Live which enables the missing features. If so, they should consider giving this to the owners of the game free of charge or at least offer a rebate on the next version, as this feels like it is a beta version or still in testing.
Gameplay wise, the players are intelligent, the AI clever and the matches true to life. You get your midfield battles, your free flowing football or your defensive stalemates, depending on how you like to play. I would like a bit more control over the tactics but overall the game flows and plays like a dream.
The commentary is so-so, with the soundbytes sometimes irrelevant to what's going on. Music is annoying but ok and as I said, the game looks beautiful.
However, it feels as if I have been ripped off here and that I bought a product that is half-finished. I only hope that next time round, Konami stays loyal to its fan base and gives them all the complete game they, and this superb franchise, deserve.
It was a Pitty to Wait so Long for This

It was a [...] that for die hard fans of this Konami game, they would lauch this version for the X Box 360. I have been playing the PES games for about 6 years, and I just cann't understand how they can leave out the Edit Mode, I mean you cann't put the players you like in the team you like or chance the faces, names and other aspects of the players.
I had to buy a PS2 again, just to continue playing the PES game that I love, because in the PS2 and PSP versions you can find the COMPLETE EDIT MODE. Why? Did they rush this game for the X Box 360? I cann't understand it.
Hope next time they complete the game, and not leave us with half the game we were expecting.
Brilliant Gem of a Game

The title says it all. This is a great soccer game again. This is easily the best soccer game on the market. It amazes how each year additions can be made to the games that actually would make you want to buy the game again aside from roster changes. Yet THis is one of those games that necessetates getting the game again. Aside from killer graphics (the best you will see in a soccer game), you now have the ability to do three different types of kicks when trying to score a goal. That is incredible!!!!! Bottom Line: Do you like soccer at all? Own this brilliant, fun game.
It's quite a funny thing

I agree to some extent with other reviewers on here, but here's something you must take into consideration. Fifa 2007 has beautiful graphics, all sorts of wavey shorts and shirts, dirt on players jerseys, all the stadiums and player names.... but what doesn't fifa 07 have? SOLID GAMEPLAY one match you could enjoy and have a descent time and score a few goals and then the next your bobbling the ball around getting beaten 3 nil. Instead of just comparing this game to other console versions, look at its competition on the same console. This WE07 has fantastic gameplay, the controls are instant the second you want to pass you can pass, and what I love even more than that is if you accidentally hit the shoot button for too long you can cancel it by pressing the button again! which drives me crazy on the fifa games if you didn't mean to push a button you're stuck watching the ball fly god knows where. I must admit they do need to amp up the graphics a bit, and more authenticity would be appreciated but it doesn't get much better than master league. I'm not sure what the guys talking about in the review complaining about not having player transfers. you can update the transfers as current as the January transfer roster, AND you can transfer players in the master league mode. overall i thoroughly enjoy this game and I'll be selling my copy of FIFA 07 if anyone is interested lol
Better than the current EA FIFA 07

I like the game, but I am very used to the controlls in EA-FIFA, so I had some trouble getting started. Of course, it doesn't offer all the "official" teams/names, but it is by far the better soccer game.
Good game

It is a shame you do not have an edit mode where you can move players from one team to another.
Very good engine which turns the game even more real.

Simply put this series has been a tremendous hit since they started, winnig eleven has converted many FIFA aficionados because of their graphics and specially because of the game play....if u liked SuperStar Soccer for Nintendo 64 then you should follow your gut and play Winning Elven any time you can.
Great Game with so much fun

Overall this game has great improvement from Winning Eleven 9. The players are having better control over the ball, which makes the game much more smooth and enjoyable. You can see great players bring the ball all the way through the court and make the shoot.(Although I think Henry is a bit overrated in this game). But there are only 2 things I feel it can be improved in the next Winning. First, it's much harder to shoot the ball in this new Winning. It's just so easy to overpower the shoot even though you just hit the button so lightly, which makes the game a bit unrealistic. Some easy shoots just shouldn't be missed all the time in the real world. Second, the graphy of this game isn't as detail as Winning 9. In Winning 9, the players' clothes will get dirty as the game goes, which is so realistic. but in this game, it doesn't happen. But Overall, this is still a very fun game.
Good soccer game, but

this game is very fun to play and you can play for hours if you wanted to. however, i give this game a 3/5 because of its pathetic Xbox Live experience. if you have played it online, you'll know what i'm talking about. you can't deny anyone who you don't wanna play, sometimes it takes forever to find somebody you WANT TO play. and there's no freaking LOBBY. one horrible thing about this game is that it's a little too hard sometimes. every time you tap your shoot button lightly, the freaking ball just goes over the goal and it goes outside the stadium or something! ugh !! bottom line, it's a little more realistic than FIFA and it's pretty fun. worth a try.
