I've been looking forward to this game for only about a month since I read about it. I bought it as soon as I can and I play it as much as I can. This game is alot of fun. It has a great mixture of fast paced combat mixed with strategy. The combat keeps you on your toes because everyone has the ability to teleport through walls right in front of you or see through walls and pop around the corner. That also could be considered the downfall because everyone has the same powers, so there isn't as much variety as there could be. Hopefully some of the small problems get a patch but it's a great game as is.
Underated and no longer overpriced

I was at first quite hesitant to pick up this title as the online reviews from gamespot and ign were none too flattering to say the least. However, I kept hearing from groups of friends that had picked it up that they were playing it every night without fail. I picked it up on the cheap and was instantly in love. The different races and magic/technologies let you customize your character in a wide variety of ways. It makes matches much more exciting than your standard halo deathmatch where everyone has the exact same base stats and abilities. Its been a few weeks now and even with halo 3 out I'm still going back to shadowrun consistently. Highly recommend you pick it up for the new lower price if you enjoy death matches with more depth to them then normal.
who on earth greenlighted this!?

I bought this game on day one based on the fact that it was a next-gen shadowrun. I read about it and became very excited about the gameplay and the new ideas. But then I actually played it. With all the time, effort and money put into this game, why is there absolutly no single player story mode. This is based on a world with some of the richest history in pen-and-paper rpgs out there. Why could they not even muster up the time to put in even an average single player mode. (the lame bot matches and training missions don't count) I mean for crying out loud, even halo and gears of war had memorable storys and characters. And those were based on brand new ideas ad licenses. Its not that the gameplay is bad. The multi-player is actually very well thought out. But for a game that costs us 60 dollars, there is absolutly no excuse for no story mode. I'm not even going to start on the lack of maps. (which is pretty pathetic for a basically online only game.
Not an RPG (sigh) - still a great game

I'm a fan of the original Sr video games (SNes and Gen), and when this was announced I was completely against the change in genre. Lo and behold - the game is great. Of course, I knew when I bought it what it was - an online multiplayer, not a single player game (do your research people - the game's not free).
The more you play, the more depth you will feel - character builds offer great flexibility, with each race/tech/magic-ability adding different tactical advantages and disadvantages. The maps are well designed to make the most out of the abilities (teleporting and gliding open entirely new strategic spots, while strangle somehow doesn't lose it's efficiency even with these powers), and the races are generally well balanced - with the exception of the elves... who have that Halo regeneration power.
The one problem is playing with run and gunners. For the moment (this is only a week after launch), Live still has some playing. They'll get bored soon enough.
If you do happen to pick it up - be prepared to spend some time with it (one reviewer gave it a single star after 20 minutes - that's about 3 rounds). And realize that lack of a single player mode - hate to emphasize it again, but some people just don't get it... and that would destroy the initial experience for all of ya'.
Alot of fun

I really like this game as it is a blast to play. I have not ran into the cheating or the immaturity on this game like i have in others. The FPS action is fun and the magic and tech add a very nice aspect to the gameplay. Instead of just run-n-gun like halo or shotgunfest like gow you have a more balanced game. People tend to use resurrect on this game to bring teammates back and the teamwork just seams to work better. I would give this game a 5 star if it wasn't for the fact that it can take a while to connect to a game and then some games(had 2 yesterday) get stuck in the character select menu and other things that cause you to have to restart which means waiting a few minutes for a new match. Although no offline, which would have been great, this game is exactly as advertised for me.
Amazing game! BUT NO CAMPAIGN!?!?!?!

As I said, Amazing game! BUT NO CAMPAIGN!?!?!?! I love the gameplay, the weapons and the strategy of the game are great. It is really fun and I was having a good time until I realized that there is no campaign. That really made me mad, and this game will get really old playing multiplayer because I really live for FPS campaigns. A disappointment from a great game. Unfortunate indeed. That makes me a lot more impatient for Blacksite to come out. Amazing demo and I can't wait for the game in septmember.
Great FPS not an RPG

I love this game and I must say I am confused about the reviews. If you like FPS type games you will love this one. Guns and Magic. Elves and Trolls. I am addictive most fun I have had on the 360. Graphics are not Gear of Wars quality but the gameplay is a blast.
If you don't know if you will like it rent it and try it out for a week!

I would give Shadowrun no stars if I could. Supposedly this game is based off of the RPG Shadowrun, but other than the name and the idea that magic and technology coexist in the future, that's as much of a link as you're going to get to the source material. The storyline (if you can call it that, since there isn't any actual story) is completely rewritten and different from the RPG. The graphics are only average, and even if they were great you couldn't appreciate them because you'll spend the entire time running, hopping, or gliding around shooting other bots and players in a mindless shoot'em up.
In one hour I had learned how to use every power and weapon. There are 8 spells and seven bland, non-futuristic, non-magical weapons, but there are only three buttons that can be set to use these abilities at any given time. Firing your weapon is as complicated as aiming and pulling the right trigger. One weapon, the rifle, has one level of zoom, and that's it.
There is NO SOLO STORYLINE. There are six "chapters" of training in how to use your magic, weapons and tech, and the four races--human, dwarf, troll, and elf (apparently they couldn't be bothered to include orks, the fifth player race from the RPG). Also completely missing is any kind of virtual world combat, another staple of the RPG.
Once you've done all six training chapters, all that's left is "solo" play (you and some bots versus a bunch of other bots) or "team play" (you and some online people and bots versus some other online people and other bots). There are only TWO types of games, capture the flag and deathmatch.
And that's it. For $60 you get a game that is allegedly based on the original pen-and-paper RPG, although the only thing resembling the original game is the title, no solo game, and two kinds of multiplayer matches.
I feel totally ripped off. I just bought the game yesterday and I'll be trading it in within a week. A horrible waste of money. Keep this game in the shadows and run far away!
A nice idea but

I have to say my only knock against the game is a single story line instead of the player vs player element. Especially for $60 is a bit much.

People keep complaing that this game dosent match up to its RPG counterpart... SO WHAT. Most people have never heard of Shadowrun before and aren't going to instantly judge based on the differences.
For those of you with open and willing minds... This game is spectacular, I was extremely impressed with its multiplayer and found the uniqe abilities fun and awesome to use (even if there is only 3 slots to put them in ):). Those of you looking for a story mode, keep in mind, THERE ISINT ONE. I see this as no hinderance to the game at all. Even if you don't have live the AIs have some sense of strategy and are very fun to play and train with. The levels are varied and fun, and playing with 16 players keeps the game alive and fun.
DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED BY SHADOWRUN RPG FANS REVIEWS, THIS GAME IS AMAZING IF YOU GO IN WITHOUT AN RPG HOPEFULNESS.
I highly recomend this game to anyone who likes multiplayer (OVER LIVE OR WITH AIs)
The only bad thing about this game is it dosen't have split screen (whick SUCKS), but thats ok, I play over live anyway.
