This is the RPG that caused me to go out and get a Super NES console back in 1991 so I could play it. My brother had this game and gave it to me when he was done. I've been hooked ever since! Looking back, of course the graphics are definitely rather primitive compared to nowadays, but the music and storyline are compelling. I actually cared about these characters, Cecil, Rosa, Rydia, Kain and others. I've played this game from start to finish at least a half-dozen times since I first beat it, seeing how powerful I could get my characters, using the Game Genie to "cheat" and see how it would play differently. A great sentimental favorite.

Lets get something strate first: This game is REALLY Final Fantasy IV!!! The ONLY reason it's called Final Fantasy II is because Final Fantasy II & III for Nintendo never came to the US! So Nintendo decided to just skip those numbers so no one would feel like their missing out on something! With that said Final Fantasy II way a good addition to the SNES library! Although there was some cencoring done to the language, and even though some questionable sceans were cut, it was one of Super Nintendo's best games! But if you have a Playstation too, just get Final Fantasy Chronicles and get the uncencored vertion!

This was a great, great game. I mostly hear about all the new FF games but this is a classic. The characters are great and there's a pretty good storyline. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone into the classic RPGs.

i think ff2 is the 2nd best game besides ff1 on the nes for anybody who has played it will understand. this game is so fun that you can beat it over and over with out getting bored. I will never plan to sell this game because it is so rare now and it is pretty much priceless. the music in the battles is awesome and it is way better to have random battles then to see your opponent coming to attack. random battles provide you with the chance to level up for ever. most beg rpg players like to run away from monsters and therefor they do not gain levels and can not move on in the game. so basically the graphics are awesome the music is boss and the gameplay is priceless and the story line almost matches up to final fantasy 3. the only thing that could make the game better is the cute and adorable mog.

Next to FFVI this is the probably one of the best Final Fantasies of all time. The story was very interesting. Though I haven't played it on SNES, I've played it in the Final Fantasy Chronicles package. However, I do know things about the SNES version that could help you decide if you want the FFC one or the SNES one.
On the SNES this FF game called FFII was released in America as FFIV EASY TYPE. It had spells and enemies, but from what I hear wasn't very difficult. Then came FFC and we got the harder version.
Anyway, the story line is very good, and the crystal is put to better use than in FFV. (While I'm starting to get sick of the Crystals, I rather liked it in this one.) There are a ton of story turners in this one.
Also, unlike the one on PSone, this game is censored. For example, some of the story elements aren't mentioned in this one.
Overall this was pretty good, but I played the HARD TYPE and uncensored version of the game. Its probably better to buy for the PS because its cheaper, uncensored, and easier to find.

It looks like rubbish now, but Final Fantasy II(IV in Japan) was the absolute greatest game of its time. Over the years, other RPGs came along and kicked FF4's butt. However, it is STILL a great game. I highly recommend this game.

This game is only topped by Final Fantasy III (JP 6) and Final Fantasy 9. It is among the best in the series, and the first with an absolutely astounding soundtrack, taking advantage of the then avanced technology of the SNES. You take on the quest of the Dark Knight, meeting all sorts of new and interesting allies along the way. The story is great, the first you can really get involved in (Final Fantasy I used variable characters, so the story wasn't as involved.) If you can find it, play this game.
Amazing, incredible, perfect.

This is the best FF game, second only to FF6 (FF3 in America). The character develpement, battles, plot, etc. are all much more than excellent. What a perfect game. The thing that makes the game most lively are definitely the characters. With people such as Cecil, Kain, Edge, Cid, and many others, you're drawn to the game, and can't stop playing.
Everyone should play this awesome game.

This game is one of the three kings of SNES RPGS. Great storyline, good graphics (if you like the old 2D style), good music, and cool characters.

Final Fantasy II is among the Super Nintendo's best games, and its 3rd best RPG, after its sequel, Final Fantasy III, and Square's equally impressive Chrono Trigger. The graphics are a marked upgrade from its NES predecessor, and its storyline is among the best in the genre. The main protagonist, Cecil, a Dark Knight in the service of a king who has been taken over by some elusive, evil force must make the decision to find his own path, accompanied by the Dragoon Kain, when asked to do questionable things by his superiors. This takes him on an amazing adventure, and personal redemption, when he becomes a Paladin. An amazing cast of rich, develop characters make this a must play, for any gamer. A+
