This would be a good game on the original Xbox, NOT the 360.

I'm a FPS freak. I love em! Having recently finished Gears of War (3rd person shooter,) Call of Duty 4 and Time Shift, I have gotten very spoiled. All 3 of those games are second to none. So when I play a game, my expectation bar is pretty high.

I'm only going to go into the major flaw of Prey, because for me, it's a deal breaker.

The primary problem is the actual shooting of the aliens (the main crux of the game.) When you fire at them it's hard to tell if you even hit them because all that happens is a little scene of blood splatter which may or may not be in the area you actually hit them. THERE'S NO REALISM IN IT AT ALL. The Doom 3 engine is just too outdated to compete with the other games out today. It falls way short of what I expect from a FPS.

Sure the scenery and the teleporation and other gimmicks are fun for about 15 minutes but if all I'm doing is going from dark room to dark room firing at aliens in an original Xbox, Doom-esque manner, I'm getting bored VERY fast. So fast in fact, I put the game back in the case after 8 of 24 levels. An Xbox 360 game this is not!

If you loved Gears of War, Time Shift or Call of Duty 4, I would recommend staying away from Prey. You will really be disappointed.

Needs work to meet expectations

Pretty fun overall, but sometimes the flow of the game is really slow. Graphics and controls are cool. The reincarnation phase is really really stupid.

Not bad for a Halo knock off.

Rented Prey after all the hype was built up. Shot through 17 chapters of the story in one night. For a rental it wasn't bad. It just screamed I'm a Halo knock off, but my main character is a native american. The coolest thing to me was the possibilities of shooting someone off the ceiling in multiplayer.

FUN! ADDICTING! MUST HAVE GAME!

This game is an FPS on steroids. There are puzzles, cool weapons and lots of action. I am playing this game over and over. I haven't done that since the first days of PlayStation with Tomb Raider and Medal of Honor. The graphics are top notch. The portal system is so new and refreshing, as is the gravity switching. FPS games are a lot of fun for me in general, but when you add the new innovations of the portals and gravity switching...then you get a near perfect gaming experience...not too mention there is a decent story line throughout the game. I enjoyed the campaign version better than the online mode. There has been a patch released for this game that eliminates online bugs and gameplay is much improved, and it now kicks some serious butt. I think this game is worth the price just for the campaign mode. I played it in normal mode, and now I am going back through it in Cherokee mode, which is the hardest setting. The ending sets it up for Prey 2.

To good to miss!

"The world is full of stories, and from time to time they permit themselves to be told."

Fade in to a draining sink, and an incredibly filling story. The first level in any game should set up what the gamer is to expect for the rest of the game, and Prey does so with great detail. The first thing anyone,(Not just a veteran gamer) would notice is the incredible amount of detail in your environment. The opening level is a local bar Cherokee reservation, and almost eveything inside is interactive. Take time to play with the distractions, from arcade games to jukeboxes, because believe it or not, manipulating computers and controls are vital skills throughout the game. Meaning, YOU CAN'T BEAT THE GAME WITH THE NEW "RUN AND GUN" STYLE MENTALITY. This game brings back the basic style gameplay of shooters, when games weren't long enough to be played in a straight-through style. Instead, you'll have to utilize you Cherokee powers and brain to defeat the invading forces.

This game is a cinematic masterpiece. From the unbelieveable graphics to the killer soundtrack, (Composed and mixed by Jeremy Soule, who wrote the music for Oblivion) this game will blow you away. Excellent use of songs like "Don't Fear the Reaper" are brilliantly imposed into the gameplay, fitting perfectly into the game's most critical parts. After playing, you'll find yourself actually LOOKING at the credits.

Yeah, its that good.

Do yourself a favor, don't miss this game. This could be the begining of the revolution of the genre.

the game was released today and I had placed an order for overnight delivery, only to find out I wouldn't get it for 2 weeks. Huh? Usually I get releases from Amazon before stores even get the item in. Every store from Best Buy to EBgames has it in stock today.
Needless to say I cancelled my order and went to purchase it locally.

Nothing new. I knew I should have bought Quake 4

Except for fighting upside down this game is the same ol same ol.Even though your upside down you dont have any maneuverability because your on a narrow walkway. The whole upside down thing was a good idea but they could have made it so much better. It's a good game playing the first time but definatly not one of those replayable game simply b'cos of the puzzles. Alot of time you want replay a game to satisfy that itchy trigger finger, this game would not do it. It's a good game and all short but good.I would say it's not worth $60, maybe your paying for the graphics. Hopefully they make the next part more action packed with some HUMAN WEPONS.

Boring....

Not as great as it was hyped up to be. The game is pretty repetitive, and short. Multiplayer is not enticing at all. May be worth renting but not worth buying.

The graphics are fantastic, the weapons are varied but easy to use, and the game can be fun for a while but eventually and ultimately it's another FPS game with a few twists here and there but overall the game will most likely appeal to FPS players only. Those looking for more interactive games with character development etc. will quickly grow bored I'm afraid. Rent it before you buy it.
