Biggest waste of money. The idea of a superhero RPG where you can play over 10 marvel heroes is a great one, yeah its a knock off of city of heroes but its still a great idea. THis game is horrible the graphics are terrible, gameplay is confusing and its a big big disappointment. If you want a RPG get Oblivion if you want action get gears of war if you want to waste your money get this game, its crap. Don't believe me rent it before buying it.
Big disappointment, even for a Marvel fan

I'm a huge Marvel fan, and this game was still a big disappointment. The gameplay is poorly conceived and designed, and the game lacks challenge and grows old quickly. It's difficult to navigate the 3d map and to see what you're doing (I have a 27 inch TV). The NPCs present no challenge, even the bosses. The only times I've been killed have all been by some kind of environmental damage, a fire or whatever. The RPG element doesn't add much to the game. You'll find yourself stuck and frustrated by the puzzles and there's little sense of reward in completing them. None of the heroes are strongly differentiated.
That said, I think this would be a good game for kids 12 and under, but for an adult gamer, this is one of the worst titles out there that I've played. Heed the warnings and rent before you buy.
I hope future comic titles will be better.

You can only play with 25 characters, they are missing alot of characters hulk, punisher, beast, nightcrawler etc. (and I have all char's). Frustrating camera angles along with ultra devestating gameplay and control issues. For beginners there's going to be alot of confusion. The story is very weak, and the graphics could be better then they are, they used xbox's graphics engine (lame). AI is unbearable because unused characters get in the way and take all your kills. In-game Bugs are out of control, level design is horrible and no variety and very repetitive. This game try's to be so much like City of Heroes but fails miserably.
If this game would of been designed and created like the two other spider-man games (ps2,xbox) it would have been perfect!
Poor graphics and simple gameplay.........

I bought this game expecting an arcade style marvel rampage. When i popped the disc into my XBOX360 expecting to be awed this game fell severely short. The graphics looked like something from PS2 or the orginal XBOX. Poor graphics are usually something i can overcome if the game is fun but when i began whooping masters of evil (or whatever they were called) *ss i became bored very very very quickly. I switched characters out freqeuntly... still no woody. I tried the different powers and object lying around... still no woody. Finally i repackaged the game and took it back to my local Gamestop to exchange it for Dead Rising. Now i've got a hard on.
I wouldn't suggest this game for anyone short of being a hardcore marvel fanboy. Maybe if i had picked this game up when i was 12-14 and still collecting comics it would have been more satisfying. Now that i'm 25 it's just a bunk cheap release. I'm taking the money for the next marvel game and buying a prostitute.
Far from my expectations

I believe the graphics are not even near of what the XBox 360 can really do. The overal gameplay experience is actually bad.
The whole game consists in punching the stupid fellows that appear on your way while you scan a facility or building to fullfil an objective.
In the last scene I played I faced dragon boss which seemed to be taken out of my old Super Nintendo.
Bad Video Game

You get four Marvel comics heroes to fight at once with Nick Fury being the boss. Other characters get unlocked and you can keep switching which characters are fighting during the game. You get experience points a la D & D and get better character skills unlocked. So far I have beat the first two boards when I rented it, but it's too confusing for what could've been a great role playing game. The bosses are too easy to beat and nothing else puts up much of a challlenge, especially at early boards.
it is what it is

If you've played X-Men Legends, then you already know exactly how you'll feel about this game, as it is basically the same with a new coat of paint. That is, if playing with all these Marvel characters is exciting for you, then go for it--but frankly, this is basically a glorified platform or arcade game, where you move around a maze and smash things and pick up coins like you were Sonic the Hedgehog. That can be fun--but expect little more, as this is clearly not next-generation gaming. The character upgrade system is needlessly complex, and often the powers are redundant (you probably don't need twelve different ways to punch something). And perhaps most glaringly irritating about this game is the absolutely horrendous voice acting and overall story. This thing is covered in cheese, and not in a good way. I think the developers of this game really need to move on to a new way of looking at video games.
A short blast

The game is too easy. Playing on normal difficulty, I never once lost my team in battle. I blew through each boss first time using no strategy. The mini games used to beat some bosses require no reflexes - only that you can tell red, from green, from blue, from yellow, and Y, from X, from B, from A (in case you were either dyslectic, or colour blind). The mini game button sequences go at a snail's pace. I did not lose one team member in the final showdown against Dr.Doom. You want some sort of challenge from a game - the relief, ecstasy, and sense of achievement, say, from beating Ninja Gaiden, GRAW, or Manhunt. I employed no strategy ever against any foe - just got near them and leant on the special attacks of Ironman, and combined them with my other teammates. I never once employed the dodge/defend button. And the puzzles are redundant, the "solutions" incredibly childish. I know to put the square block into the square hole. That's the ordinary. The good is the presentation, characterisation, and story. The cutscenes are well worth opening, and give impetus to pushing on through the game. I am not a hardcore gamer. I'm a casual gamer who enjoys finding out the "story" of a game. I don't think I was lucky. I think this game might well have compromised for mass consumption, for sometime gamers, who usually only play bits and pieces - and give them the sense of achievement for completing a game for once. The lack of challenge seriously detracts from the game, and makes the core action hollow and repetitive. Buy this one for the kids.
DEFINITE RENTAL - fun, but repetitive and unoriginal. Don't buy it, unless you're a Marvel Comics Fanatic

This game is fun to play for a couple of days, but it's really just a slow hack-and-slasher with good production values. There's an RPG element, but it's so simple, you don't have to pay attention to it. They give you quests with no point like to get a password that you don't need, because even if you give them the wrong one, you go to the next level anyway.
It gets frustrating at times because the level designs are bad. For example, you might have to do some really weird trick to proceed to the next level, but they don't let you know, so you're stuck running around in circles for an hour or two. You get to choose whatever hero you want, but they're really exactly the same, but with different animations.
And the game gets REALLY, REALLY boring after a day or two.
What brings this up to 3 stars are all the extras they put in the game. The cinematics and voice acting are gorgeous. It's almost like they got Pixar to do the cut scenes. And the Marvel trivia game is fun. But of course this has nothing to do with the gameplay.
This may be the best comic book game but that's like saying Bloodrayne is the best Uwe Boll movie. If you're a Marvel comics nut, this game may be worth the buy. Otherwise just rent it from Blockbuster and keep it for 2 weeks. You'll thank me later. ;)
Eh...

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance was okay. After playing X-Men Legends 1 and 2 I quickly became a bit bored with this game. MUA is essentially the exact same thing except for better graphics and a different selection of heroes to choose from. Admitedly, it's a fanboy's dream to be able to team up the likes of Spidey, Blade, Cap, and Thing, but once the nostalgia wears off the game gets old pretty quick. If you're looking for a "button masher" for the X360 I recommend Ninety Nine Nights, I was more impressed with that game that MUA. If you're a comic fan or have never played X-Men Legends 1 or 2 this game will keep you entertained for a while. If you've already played XML 1 and/or 2 you'll enjoy the new roster and change from cell-shaded graphics but you'll find yourself essentially playing the same game.
Lastly, bravo for the option of having subtitles. It still amazes me that there are games out there that don't have that option. For Deaf and Hard of Hearing gamers it's infuriating when subtitles are unavailable. Have to give credit where credit is due.
