I have played this game for about 4 hours and have made it into the second level. It's boring!! Why in the hell would you fight the boss fight at the end of level 1 and then take it right up again on the next level, with two of the same bosses instead of one??. WTF??? It is too dumb beyond belief. The story line is like some crappy saturday filler cartoons for mongoloid children. Spare me, please, and don't get this game. I was so jacked for it and then after playing it felt like I'd been taken for a ride.....over the rainbow of stupidity to land in the nation of bland, repetitive god-awful ideas allowed to see the light of day. Capcom needs to find another outlet. Obviously, this remorseful effort deserved to be murdered at birth.
Pretty But Boring

Looks great, but this game was just so boring to me. Even when you were shooting things and running around in various vehicles and robot contraptions, it still felt totally lackluster. The visuals are the strong point, from the enviornments to the creature designs; It also features the best explosions in any game so far; But the controls are slightly off and sluggish, and the pace of the game matches the character movements...slooooow!! Whatever that 'it' is that makes similar games fun(RE4, for one...just a different setting; also by Capcom...), or just other games fun in general, seems to have somehow eluded Lost Planet. It is such a shame, because the potential is clearly there. Maybe if it was designed as a first person shooter...But I say that about alot of games. Gears of War, anyone? If you must see for yourself, rent it.
couldn't get into it...

let me first say i made a big mistake. i played rainbow six vegas before i started playing this one, which made this game unplayable since rainbow six is the best console shooter of this generation and everything else pales in comparison. trust me. try RSV if you don't believe me. it'll cure you.
but then again this is more of a third person shooter with some other elements then a true FPS, so maybe I am ruined instead by playing Splinter Cell Double Agent before this one. It is the king of 3rd person shooter with some other elements.
Lots of WOW!

Great game! If you enjoy boss fights this is your game. Graphics are remarkable, camera angles make you feel like you're there in the thick of it. If you want to show off that shiny new HDTV and sound system, get this game.
Kind of bland

This game just feels kind of boring and repetitive to me. I forced myself to keep playing it, but after getting through a few levels, I gave up. Having just completed Rainbow Six: Vegas and Gears of War, this game doesn't even come close to those two. One positive, as stated in some other reviews here, is the graphics are good, and I didn't find the thermal energy to be as much of a detraction as some people did. I just didn't find myself unable to put the controller down as with other shooter games.
Seriously, the best multiplayer for X360

Honestly, i bought this game brand new becuase I worked at a rental store at the time and i had seen promos and posters, trailers... All the stuff for the game looked good. But when i first played it i didnt like it very much (i.e. the controls, the game mechanics) but once i got past ... 15 minutes i was hooked until i beat it.
then i shelved it for a month or two. after that i subscribed to Xbox Live. the game got better and better. the funnest multiplayer gameplay, 2-16 players, wide varity of players from crappy to elite. so the competition is always fresh.
the sweetest feeling is getteing first place in a matchwith laggers, loudmouths and real good players, a few jumping head shots isnt't bad either.
SO if you you like shooters that require any skill BUY THIS GAME.

Lost Planet is another in a long line of average shooters. This one has a somewhat interesting story line and interactive structure that makes it a cross between Indiana Jones and Starship Trooper. Besides that, it's nothing special. If you love shooters and the well of games you haven't played is running dry then pick it up. If you've got something better to play, then by all means skip this one.
better than expected

I have to admit that I was very pleasantly surprised with this game. I have read all the negative reviews and I was very dubious about buying it, but since my wife got it for me and it only cost 20 bucks I figured it was worth popping it in for a spin. The story was slow getting you into the game and it is very jumpy and final fantasy esc in some of the mannerisms and dialogue, and it makes very little sense to this point.
Despite some poor directing with the voice actors and some plot issues, or lack of plot, the game is really fun. I don't mind the thermal energy thing, there are usually plenty of ways to fill up, and the in-game action so far has been really impressive. I just got done playing GOW and in some ways I think Lost Planet has it beat...in few ways, but some. The explosions are amazing, the graphics are impressive, and the creatures are incredibly fun to fight. It isn't realistic, but it is just dang fun to be blown thirty feet through the air and then get up firing at some giant ice dragon.
The game is not without its flaws but it is still a good game, especially for the price we paid. It is defiantly worth renting to see if you like it, or buy it cheap. Maybe with the exception of individuals who can't stand games that are timed or where you have to collect things, I usually don't like those types myself, but this one doesn't bother me. Whatever you do, don't buy it if your in the mood for a good, engaging plot with quality voice acting, you wont find it here...or I would have given it 5 stars.
Good, but not Great

So, if you are looking for a great shooter, with amazing graphics and a good online setup... There are much better games out there. This game, while fun and interesting, just does not give you much of an exciting feeling. the monsters are pretty cool looking, and it does present a challenging game to defeat, but it is just not that great game you are looking for I'm sure. Now the graphics are amazing, especially since this was one of the earlier games for the 360. I, at most, would recommend renting the game. but if you insist on buying it, I'm sure you'll make it at least one time through
Capcom fails horribly

This was probobly one of the worst games ever made. The storyline makes no sense and is just so bland and boring that can not seem to keep my attention for more then two minutes. As for the stupid thermal energy thing goes, what is up with that. It makes no sense and half the time you die trying to keep up your thermal energy while also having to fight. I wish I could get my money back and the 2 hours of my life that I spent on this game.
