Just like the board game alomost. Buy it for the price you can't go wrong. You can play with friends or by yourself. It's pretty cool.

Risk is a good game, and still has the basic rules and stargey as in the board game. It does take some time to get use to, but, overalll it is pretty good.

This game is the Video game version of the old board game named RISK. But it has a few extra features on it that you do not find on the board game, which in only available on the computer version since it involves different situations that allow you to see actions on the screen. A game in which the graphics aren't amazing but good enough for this type of game. But is still fun to play and worth the money that you have to spend to get it

Graphic, Long-Lasting, and Strategic

This game is very good and best for Risk players. I'll explain the game; if you've played, skip to ////////. Risk is a battle game that combines strategy and luck. The goal is to conquer the world with your armies, country by country. Owning entire continents gains extra reinforcements, as does owning individual countries. Risk is unfortunately downhill for players that are behind. //////// The computer game offers several customizable features, such as "blind Risk". The game offers an Ultimate Risk variation, but it's not explained and not very good. Fortunately, there are three levels of AI (artificial intelligence). The graphics are good, and there's a neat winning clip. I recommend this for people who like Risk or other strategy games.

The box says multiplayer so I brought this one home to play on an impromptu 2 player network along with a friend. Unfortunately, multiplayer means "3 or more players" which is written nowhere on the outside of the box. Sooo, in a nutshell my 1 friend and I are hosed. No stars here!

A risk not worth taking

I'm not much for video games, but world conquest has always had a certain appeal, so I happily purchased this CD-ROM yesterday. Thankfully, the store made an exception to its return policy...

This, dear reader, is awful software.

For whatever reason, this game would not function properly. After spending the better part of fifteen minutes flipping through a useless instruction booklet just to learn how to configure the game to play by the board game's rules (which, by the way, are not the default), I could not save the settings. Figuring this may have been my fault somehow, I started the game anyway.

Bad idea. After struggling with the poorly documented, counter-intuitive, and incredibly gaudy controls for quite some time, I finally got to a decent strategic position and tried to save my game. I suppose Risk is allergic to FAT32, because it would not save to disk. Irritated, I played on, and one of the computer players suddenly stopped playing and gave control of its armies to me... apparently it had better things to do.

Even if you think my computer troubles are somehow self-imposed, I would strongly urge you not to purchase this game. The AI is weak, the graphics distract from game play, and configuration is a nightmare. Don't ask about Ultimate Risk or Internet play... it wasn't worth my time to find out, and it isn't worth yours.

good game

This game is good but it is not for everyone. I have spent many hours unable to get away from it. Not everyone goes for this kind of game where you have to think. I figured out how to beat the AI almost every time but it took a while to get to that point. Different maps have different strategies. The save game feature does not work on any of my computers with different operatins systems. I just leave it on if I want to save it.

This game is pretty good playing wise...but I can't seem to get the software to save games. I always get an error. It makes so I have to play a single in a single sitting.

Timeless...

I've loved this game for years. It has regular Risk, but it also has "Ultimate Risk" in which generals and forts can be purchased, wars can be fought on extensive maps of the world, North America, Europe, and Asia, and you can start fighting in a Scenario match, as, say, 1812 America, or 1798 France. Good stuff.

Not Very Fun

This game gets old after playing about five times. The options may sound great, but the game offers a lot and delievers very little. The battle sequences in the Ultimate mode are (to put mildly) crap. The same old 3D video sequences over and over. I wouldn't have bought it, if i could change the past.
