Disappointed.
That pretty much sums up my feelings about this game.
I don't usually write reviews, but I felt I had to say my bit on this title.
It is a very pretty game.
I'll give it that, but little else.
DOAX2 = DOAX1 + better graphics + novelty features - in person multiplayer - some reason to play the game
Let's see... we have the new eye candy mini games.
Neato if you love button mashing madness.
We have the new Jet Ski race.
Big yay there.
It's an entertaining diversion, but nothing overly special.
Got old for me quick.
The new casino games are ok.
I spent more time playing in the casino than anything else.
We have ONLINE multiplayer now!
Woo Hoo!
Now you don't have to worry about making real friends and inviting them over!
You can just play with whatever random person is out there on the net.
We have online multiplayer at the expense of the offline two player game.
That pretty much kills the game for me.
One of the biggest components of this game and the previous title is going about gathering all of the bathing suits and other goodies for the various characters in the game.
With the old game, whenever a friend came over to play a two player volley ball match, you could show off the various outfits you had acquired, make inappropriate comments about the ladies, whine about losing because of the control scheme, and enjoy your company in general.
With the DOAX2, there is no offline multiplayer game. No local two player mode. I guess the people who made this game figured that the players who would play it didn't get out enough to know any people in person, and those they did know they only talked to over a crackling headset.
Well, that wasn't the case with me and my friends.
Between rounds of Halo and Soul Calibur we'd pop in DOAX1 for a change of pace and everyone liked it.
That was the part of the game I really liked:
The social aspect.
That made me want to collect all the different outfits and items so I could show them off, and hear my buds comment on them. It gave me a reason keep playing the single player mode (which in no way had an elaborate storyline). And I enjoyed it. I really did.
DOAX1 was a gem.
And while DOAX2 has a pretty face, there is nothing shining behind the eyes.
All in all, even with the online bit, you are still alone, just playing with yourself.
Beachgoers beware...This one's a bit different

Being a long-time fan of the sport of volleyball, as well as the DOA franchise, I didn't even hesitate to buy this game - even after I had read some mediocre/disappointing-reviews on gaming websites such as IGN. Although being a bit biased, I believe I'm giving this game as fair a shot as I can.
First off, welcome back to the wonderful world of DOA Xtreme Beach Volleyball! With Zach's discovery of the Ancient Treasures of the Egyptian Pharoahs in the previous installment (DOA4), he's become a billionaire once again - and is determined to raise Zach Island from the depths of the ocean - with some extra-terrestrial assistance, of course. All your favorite DOA Girls are back, with the addition of new-comer Kokoro, the adorable Geisha-in-training from DOA4. Also included are new features to keep you busy for your 14-day vacation in the tropics, such as the World's Biggest Water Slide, the Poolside Tug-of-War, and of course, the "Butt Battle" (yes, it's exactly how it sounds).
But of course, just as the first installment was, this game is FAR from perfect. Graphics are superb, but apparently, it was either more jiggle-action or better game-play - the producers didn't go with the latter.
The Beach Volleyball system has been altered significantly. Although more realistic, a round of volleyball is now extremely frustrating as your CPU opponents often put more effort into the game than you and/or your CPU partner. Response time is much slower, and achieving a shutout-victory and its hefty reward is almost impossible, as either your opponents will always get a perfect spike in (including hitting STRAIGHT down, which is something even professionals have trouble with), or your character will just quit on a ball that drops right in front of her. This new system is made even more difficult by the return of the "back-corner" camera-angle, which makes it impossible to tell where you or your opponent is aiming her spike.
While this game still has its pluses (afterall, there really is no other game like it), it's a significant step down from the last DOA Xtreme in terms of everything other than graphics (and hey, that is all some people care about - look at the PS3). Fans of the franchise will most likely enjoy this game enough to not regret the $55-$60 pricetag, but others will most likely have a bit more trouble doing that. All and all, one thing is for certain - DOA Xtreme 2 is not exactly your ordinary trip to the beach.

I liked origonal game on Xbox and this one has much better graphics. The play is lacking in the Jet-ski race - it's really hard and so is the water slide game.
Basically, the game is earn money and buy smaller bikinis to put your gal in.
You can earn the money anyway you want - which is a nice change of pace.
Overall - despite some control issues in the jet ski game this game is highly recommended.
So - if you are looking for that fan type game to admire the girls of DOA this is your ticket. The stunningly gorgeous women of DOA on a beautiful tropic island complete with all the toys you'd ever want for some is a fantasy come true.
Having your DOA Gal Jet-ski as well as play beach volleyball was a nice added touch. The other minigames including Hopping Game and Butt Battle are actually fun also.
Great graphics, but way boring..

First of all, I'm a girl, I enjoyed the first game even though it's suppose to be all eye-candy. I thought Volleyball was good and collecting the cute (and some quite ugly) swimsuits for the girls made it slightly like a dress-up game, which is something I've always liked.
At first sight, I thought with all the bonus minigames, how could the second game ever be boring?
I have a lot of problems with this game...
1: The swimsuits are awful. There were about 20 I would actually concider buying and giving a girl. A lot of swimsuits had awful, disgusting colors, way too bright or way too dark and like... yellowgreenish dark. Yuck!
Some swimsuits are just some jewelry covering the private parts, those "swimsuits" is something I would never buy.
So buying and gifting was not appealing at all to me.
2: The items are EXPENSIVE. The cheapest stuff close to 1000-3000, the most expensive like 6 million dollars (!!!!!).
Not only is it annoying to try see how many zeros there are, but you have to be the best in every single minigame to even get close to get enough money to buy things. In the first game, I gave the girls nailpolish, flowers, hats, some quite swimsuits, but in this game I can rarely afford anything. It's like you're struggling forever and you still can't afford the things you like.
3: In the first game, the other girls started out weak and became stronger the more you played them. They do not in this game, you get professional players every single game. So the second is that you are not allowed to train on any of the minigames as long as you want, you can only play a minigame 3 times a day, then you are forced to go to bed and start over the next day. In butt-battle I sometimes get knocked down within 2 seconds, how am I suppose to learn how to get the other girl in the water if I can't train as long as I like?
The same goes for Volleyball, if you loose to much your partner leaves you, and when you don't have cash, you can't give her a gift so she'll stay, and then you can't play volleyball AT ALL. Only if you end your vacation and start over again. But that's not very fun.
4: The minigames are not very rewarding, if you become the winner you get 30.000. That's cheap concidering how hard the NPC's are. And you won't get cash very quickly if you loose a lot like me.
Jet Ski is the easiest game to get cash, only annoyance is that I've had other girls push my girl out of the course and get disqualified. And what does my girl say when I bump into them? "Sorry".
I'm not sorry, I want to push them away, but if you bump into them, they push you. HARD. You have to be careful not to even touch them, or else it's very easy being knocked into a cliff and not get out.
I play this game 10 minutes a time at the most, I can't say anything about LIVE because I don't have the availability to play it. The game becomes tedious and boring, because there's no reward in the game, you just struggle and struggle and don't get anything back.
I did like that you aren't forced to listen to Lisa's tutorial just because you want a partner, instead random girls offer to take you around the island. Also the "go back to the hotel" automatically chooses the hotel you are staying at, I didn't understand why you were forced to press in the first game when the only thing you could do was pressing the button.
But the game just dosen't offer enough to be fun.

So, you've seen the ridiculous trailer for this game, heard the hype, and read the unkind, mocking reviews and wonder whether you should give this game a shot. Well, that all depends. I'm a huge fanboy of the fighting games which get a bad rap by folks who haven't bothered to learn how to play them properly, so I'm a bit biased by the fact that I really enjoy these characters and the ways their personalities and relationships with one another carry over from game-to-game in the series. That said, this game certainly does live up to it's affectionate nickname, "Boobs: The Game"; but there is more than a little bit of fun to be had on Zack's tropical island. The original DOAX was a novelty game at best that offered nice visuals, a minor diversionary volleyball game, a boring casino, and a busted social sim. This time around, we get REALLY nice visuals, a slightly improved volleyball game, several extra annoying mini-games, a much-improved casino, and a pretty killer jet-skiing game on top of the still-busted social sim. You'll spend most of your days earning money playing the two good games, v-ball and jet-skiing, so that you can attempt to buy thoughtful gifts for girls you'd like to be your friends. The problem is that the girls will usually return your gifts for no real reason, making your precious time and money a complete waste. While it is quite fun to see the girls who do accept your generous gifts wearing them around, there are very few items you can give them repeatedly and the overall item list is quite a bit shorter than I expected. The incentive to woo these girls is nil, unless you love a headache-inducing challenge or are without a volleyball partner. I was really hoping for a major upgrade/overhaul to this pointless social sim, but chalk that up as another disappointment. The much-vaunted swimsuits are mostly nothing special and they are impossibly expensive, though they do leave tanlines when you change to another which is a very nice touch. The casino now has a much better variety of games that you can play head-to-head with the other girls (the poker is quite fun) which is probably the biggest improvement to an existing aspect of this series. The waterslide, butt-battle, tug-of-war, and flag racing mini-games are all over in a flash, not very profitable, exceedingly difficult, and take up a massive portion of your day, making the lot of 'em damn near worthless. The jetskiing and volleyball are really the game's biggest saving graces and are pretty damn fun once you get the hang of it. I got frustrated a the v-ball at first and cursed my partner's terrible AI that spiked at inapproriate times and often watched an opposing spike or serve go by as she looked at the ground. Then I remembered that Kasumi and Ayane (my DOA girl of choice) do not get along, though I had tried to smooth things over between them, I could practically sense Kasumi's indifference to the outcome of our matches. So I kicked Kasumi-chan to the curb, grabbed a new partner, and promptly began crushing the competition. Team Ninja loves this kind of thing; adding hidden depth to a game that appears to the inexperienced eye to be simple and impossibly difficult. Treat your partner right and you'll work together nicely, lose games and skimp on the gifts, and you're game will suffer as a result. Another nice touch. All-in-all, this one is barely an improvement over the first installment and, therefore, still a renter. The game is fun for quite a while but watching the same canned animations -bouncy breast physics or no-, and hearing the same phrases over and over gets old quick so the graphics and DOA characters are no reason to buy this game. Added social interactions would have done wonders here, but alas, gift-giving is the only non-competitional contact you'll have with your friends unless you count the time-wasting "be friendly" activity, where you watch you and your partner stroll down the beach or do other boring things while you snap pictures. The new mini-games are all lame and since the social aspect is still difficult and unrewarding I'd really only recommend this one to: a) fans of the original's volleyball game who don't mind the redundancy b) boys who will not know the touch of a woman any time soon and don't have access to porn c) anyone who actually gets excited at the prospect of a virtual jet-ski race or poker game, and d) DOA completists who absolutely MUST collect every single item in every single game that Team Ninja puts out or just can't get enough of those delightful DOA girls. Everyone else should give this one a rental, then go dust off your copy of "Dead or Alive 4" (a man's game) and kick some real virtual booty. Let's just hope that "DOA: Code Cronus" doesn't let us down.

I'd like to say first of all that I'm a fan of Dead or Alive. Now I'm comparing this to Dead of Alive Xtreme Beach Vollyball and so far I'm impressed with the graphics and the details. The vollyball part of the game is a little harder than the orgininal at first, but you get the hang of it. While the marine race is a new experience you'll get better at it with practice, but you do have to buy better water craft to win the harder races. I recommend the Tigershark water craft, it has got the best speed, handling, acceleration, and three turbo boosts. It is a good idea to save them for the jumps. Now for the mini games, first the pool hopping game I find a little more challenging than the original. For example, you have to go against another girl. The butt battle is quite enjoyable wheter you're playing or watching; the tug-of-war is a little tricky but you do get to see girls get wet. The beach flags mini game is a little difficult unless you have fast fingers and lets not forget the water slide. I have never made it past the loop de loop. The casino is just like the original except the poker cards have new pictures of the girls in new bikinis. You can take pictures of the girls but a little challenging at first, so practice if you want to get good pictures. The girls are pretty much the same except a new girl has been added and the shops have new items as well. In conclusion if you have the original game why not get this one too? For those who don't I would recommend this game for two reasons: beautiful beachs and women to match. This game is rated M for mature 17+ because of partial nudity, sexual themes and simulated gambling, (not for little kids, maybe teens with parental guidance if under suggested age).
Alittle of the same game.

DoaX2 was just like Doax except somewhat harder. You competitors are harder, the suits are more expensive and the graphics are better. It's basically the same game, with more mini games included, that's all.

Okay, I picked this game up because the first one was so much fun and the graphics were awesome. This one however was a let down. They changed the game play of the volleyball so much that I don't enjoy playing that part of the game. They did however add jet skies and that takes up all my time on this game. They tried to do too much and changed what wasn't broken. Overall it's a let down.
Just a little upgrade from the first

This game is the same like the first one for xbox. The only new thing is just jet raceing the rest are the same, they could had done more then just put partial nudity cause this game got boaring quick. When i first heard this game was comeing out i thought their was going to be more fun and exitment but when i played it i thought i was playing the first cause their was nothing really different exept jet raceing and some new music witch i did'nt really care for. The jet raceing was a little fun it was'nt that great but the rest was just the same. The same stuff include vollyball, pool hopskotch, relaxing near the water, buying new clothe's and figer and nail polish, and that's it they just added jet raceing. So this game was no good they should had done more in this game.

When I first played this game it was strange to me,I played the first game and loved it as much as I love this game. Apparently, now the characters speak English instead of Japanese, there are more games than the first one, and it's funner than the first one. What this game offers more than the first one does is it ensures that you can still have plenty of fun even after your volleyball partner ditches you. And although this game's opening video isn't as sexy as the first game's, it's still hot.But on a parental note, neither this game or the first one is for kids because they both have a mature rating. The first one is rated mature for mature sexual themes, gambling, and nudity. The second is for partial nudity, sexual themes, and simulated gambling. If you're a Dead or Alive fan you should definitely check out both games. And for those of you who gave scores that this game doesn't deserve, #@** you! And right now I'm giving you the double bird. Even though I'm nearly a 15-year- old guy I'm passionate about this series, both the fighting and volleyball games.I'm ACEMAN1 AND i love video games.
