Victorious Boxers 2: Fighting Spirit

If anyone is wondering there's a new Victorious boxing game that came out on the 16th of Nov. 2006 and it's called "Victorious Boxers 2: Fighting Spirit".

I tried typing in Victorious Boxers 2 by itself in the Amazon search box and it came up with nothing but then I typed in the full title name and it showed up.

You can get it for like ten bucks so check it out.

Hard to control, I guess it isn't half bad

I rented Victorious Boxers over the weekend and I could say I diffiantly have played better games. You play as this guy trying to reach the top of boxing. The game is mildly frustrating because of the controls, it is very hard to move around the ring. Most of the guys you fight are way better than you, basically your guy is a piece of CRAP! The punches are hard to master. The thing that really got me was that it said on the box you would be training your guy to make him better but all you do is box people who are better than you. The graphics are okay but it doesn't make up for its horrible game play. It's fun to knockeople out though. If you don't have a life and you're a loser please go ahead and buy this game!

Full of Redundancy...

I am wondering why Sony even let this game published for their PS2. This game is nothing but repeat. It gets boring when you reach to the 1/3 of the game because you know you're going to play the same thing over and over.

Game Control - No Good.
Game Graphics - Could be better.
Story Line - Boring.

I don't really care if this game derived directly from the Japanese comics. The comic is good and the story is well developed, but the this game is aweful! If the game maker of this game is trying to use the Top 5 Comic book to advertise their boxing game... The game is poorly designed and will ruined both Sony and the comic artist's reputations.

GREAT GAME

THIS game is a big surprise. It is one that at first i was not sure about but once you start playing, you cannot put the controller down. This game is good for single play and fun for everbody in the multiplayer mode. This game brings some interesting things to the table. FOR example, midway through the game you must fight a black bear. This is a very chalenging game but well worth the money.

The most realism to a boxing game

The best boxing game so far. Delivers everything so much better than knockout kings. After practicing with the analog stick, you get the hang of the control after about five fights. The game is hard to master but fun to play. I still like the Knockout Kings series, but this game is everything that the Ps2 version of Knockout Kings 2001 should have been znd what knockout kings 2002 tried to be. If you are impatient and unwilling to learn you probably won't like this game.

Reward Excellence - Buy this game and not KO Kings 2002!

Let me start off by saying that you cannot get a few appreciation of this game from playing it a day or so..you need to literally play hours to fully grasp all the nuances. Forget the story, it is ridiculous, and just concentrate on the actual boxing. The game utilizes the analog stick in a way EA Sports with KO Kings 2002 could only wish to. Your defense in this game depends totally on timing, knwing when to duck and when to sway. One weakness is lack of blocking, but overall that does not take away much. Still it should be added to the next version since no boxing game is complete without it.

This is very much a thinking man or woman's game..each opponent has a different style which causes you to utilize your brain in order to figure out strategy...For instance, one boxer is very tall and rangy..he keeps flicking out the jab and if you go in swinging he counters very effectively. In order to have a chance, you have to figure out how to draw him in and then counter yourself.

As for KO Kings 2002, that game is nothing more then a glorified ready to Rumble. It is simply button mashing and a discrace after previous efforts. In KO Kings once can land well over 100 punches every round while in Victorious boxers you are lucky to land 20..that is how real boxing is.

So buy Victorious Boxers and ignore KO Kings..it is the only way EA will get the message that they cannot peddle [junk].

Not Since Mike Tyson's Punchout...

Has a boxing game been this much fun. Previous attempts by EA to put a realistic boxing game on the market have failed miserably, but thankfully the makers of Victorious Boxers have come through. This game requires skill, a sense of timing, and strategy, something uncommon in other games. Button tapping will get you nowwhere as I found out. The graphics are unbelieveable, (think Hot shots golf meets Final Fantasy 10), the sound track fits the game play and really compliments it. Even watching someone else fight is enjoyable. If you are a boxing fan, a sports fan, or even just like good video games, I would recommend putting victorious boxers at the top of your list

Good boxing game...Much like the anime series Hajime No Ippo

Just like the series it's derived from, the story mode of the game pretty much mirrors the sequences of opponents he faces. If you've watched the anime and already know the opponents, it's interesting to see them fight in the game and actually try your hand at beating them. Mashiba has that nasty flicker jab and Hayami has that annoying shotgun punch.

As one reviewer said, set your left analog stick to expert control and use the L1 for sway. You can control Ippo much, much better that was. The default controller settings leave much to be desired. I think most people who complained about the controls never bothered trying to change the settings for them or even the camera angles to suit their fighting style better. After setting the left analog stick to expert and sway to L1, I fought alot better and covered more ground around the ring. Fighting-wise, it's a pretty well balanced game with the standard straights, hooks and uppercuts plus some special moves per boxer. You will do alot of bobbing and weaving in this game as there is an absence of blocking which is too bad as that would've made this game better especially near the last opponents who become very, very challenging. I really, really like this game and recommend others to watch the series to appreciate the game a bit more.

The Greatest Boxing Game ever!!!!!

From the first time I saw this game in the local movie store, I knew it would be fun. Victorious Boxers has it all. An abundance of boxers, unique gameplay and control, realism, and a good replay value. The fighters are based on a Japanimation cartoon called Hajime No Ippo, so don't expect Tyson or Lewis in here. But every fighter has its own style, so you will learn various styles. The one thing that isn't so good is the voice acting in Story Mode. Every round, it's the same thing. But anyway, this is the greatest boxing game around...

Better Than KO Kings 2001

(...)This game is probably the best boxing game out right now for the playstation 2 and far surpasses Knockout Kings 2001 which was a huge disappointment. The graphics of the charachters are very well done and the realism of the game is well done as well. When you stagger your opponet he stumbles across the ring and when you knock him down he crumbles to the canvas. The trainer in your corner gives you advice throughout the fight and the more fights you win the more secret features you can unlock. Very realistic, very enjoyable, a worthwhile purchase.
