Easy to win straight, but....

This is an incredible game. I just bought it the other day and I love it. But I'm still not finished. Sure, I've beaten a few tourniments, but there is more.

See, the reason I'm writing this is because I've been reading a lot of reviews saying that it's just too easy. What they fail to mention is that even though Tournament mode is very very short, you have to play it with all your racers in order to make everything equal. In addition, there are secret characters that are unbelieveably hard to get. These are:

Episode 1 Sebulba: Win first place in all races on regular Sebulba's career.

Episode 1 Anakin: Beat the best lap time for each race (it seems easy at first, but those last two races make it almost impossible).

Watto: Beat the best 3-lap race time for each track (see above parentathis).

Darth Maul: Beat the best KO number in each race (oddly enough, it's the first race of the game that gives me the most trouble)

Darth Vader: Unlock EP1 Anakin, Watto, and Maul, then (and only then) win the tourniment with one of those three.

How difficult are these characters to get? Well, let me put it this way: I've been playing almost nonstop for a week and the only onje of the above characters I have is EP1 Sebulba (though I'm close to getting Maul).

So if you want praise for this incredible game, read some of the other reviews. However, read this one after to dispell the "too easy" myth. Sure, winning the tourniment mode with one character is wicked easy (I did it in a matter of hours). But try winning it with 18 and unlocking 5 more.

This games'graphics are very awesome and very, very lifelike. I think that anybody who ever played Star Wars Racer and this game can quess who the winner is. I would think that this is the best racer game ever.

I am a 6 year old boy. I like this game a lot. It reminds me of the races in episode 1.

I've had this racing game since it was released and I still think it is the best racing game I have ever played. Lucasarts should make a sequal for the next set of consoles.

This is a great race game with great graphics. I was able to win
two races already. I'm still trying to win the others, but it still keeps my interest. The game helps you wet your appetite for Star Wars Episode 2.

Wow! This is a fabulous game - the action is fast and furious, the graphics are top notch, and the digitized competition is fake enough to make it beatable! Never has it been so much fun to smash into an opponent and watch them disintergrate into hundreds of flaming mechanical parts at five-hundred miles an hour! The courses are engaging, and the special "your last lap playback" feature looks ninety percent like it's right out of a Star Wars film! I've only had this game for a week, and I haven't even started the tournament functions of the game, so I can only expect it to get better and brutal from here on in!

Although the game is a little short, it is very good. I like the way you can kill off other racers for the rest of the race, and get more money for it. But, if you are KO'd, the race is over. The pods are much faster, even though the spedometer says you are going about half the speed of the other game.

As a new PS2 user, this is the hippest game I've ever played! You can beat the game in tournament mode with 18 people to unlock cool bonus people like Episode 1 Sebulba and Ani, Watto(yes, he races),Darth Vader, Darth Maul, and who knows who else? In tournament mode, you start at the Mos Espa Open, and eventually end up in the big daddy, Boonta Eve! Single play lets you race all your favorite unlocked people and tracks. You can unlock an art gallery of cool used and unused concepts. Versus mode doesn't quite give you all the space you need, but it's still pretty exciting. Each track has neat additions like big air jumps, water, underground tunnels, and lava, to name a few. Each level is packed with cool stuff, so take time off, and explore! In short, this game is a successful masterpiece of Lucasarts and Star Wars fun, with a strong Star Wars basis to back it up.

I've only had a PS2 for a little while (about 2 weeks), and this was the first game i bought. For the first graphics to jump onto your screen, you really can't ask for better. i've played PC games for years and finally settled on buying a PS2 for the number of titles out as well as the number of friends who owned one, easier to trade the good stuff that way.
The effects are intense, the speed is amazing. If your a speed freak in your games then this is it. It really takes very little time to get the controls, and you can suddenly tell when you have it down. One lap you'll be trading paint with everything that's not moving and the next the scenary is just a vivd blur as you push that max speed of 600 mph. i highly recomend this game. It's STAR WARS (I'MASTARWARSJUNKIE"R"US KID), GT2 and a game of refining skill.
Kick the boost in and buy this one..
