I had always wanted to try a spyro game and this one was great. It is definitely worth the price, believe me. This game is great for not only people who have never played a spyro game, but it is also great for experienced people who have played spyro all their life. It's a great challenge, and it has great bosses. It seems like the excitement never ends. Great game!!!!!!!!!!!!! I highly recomend buying it!! And no, I'm not an actor. haha

My son loves this game. Although we just received it after having ordered it almost a month ago, it was worth the wait. There weren't any problems with packaging, etc. It is great. He loves it !!!

Good Game, Too Short

This game slightly differs from the other Spyro Games we are all used too. The Gems look different, there are no purchases from Money Bags or much interaction between the other well known characters from Spyro.

You are able to use your own spells by drawing them on the touch screen as they are eventually taught to you.

You get to learn alot more moves in this game from the dragon elders, which can confuse the younger players.

The game is fun, but far too short. It took me 4 hours to beat, but I still enjoyed saving the characters and doing tasks for them depsite how short it was.

Very fun!

I like the Spyro games, and it as a relief to know that this game meets expectations! Graphics are very good. The game producers gave spyro many abilities to learn and now spyro "levels up". With each level, you learn more abilities. Spyro now has a health and magic bar too, which increase over time. Spyro has one more twist, now he can travel through a shdow gate into the evil past of the dragon realm! Great game, I reccomend it.

Fun for New RPGers - Spyro Fans might feel Let Down

Spyro, the purple dragon, has been a favorite of mine since he first came out. Now he's flying, romping and bashing his way through a shadow realm.

If you're used to the more modern games, the first thing you'll notice here is that it is a pretty - but flat - display. You get a really odd "slanted, from the forward, top down" view not seen in pretty much any game. It makes the proportions of the room very odd and at times very hard to figure out. Is that line in the back of the room a wall, or is it a higher level of a shelf?

The backgrounds of the outdoor scenes are really pretty, in a sort of water color sort of way. You walk or run around, charging at enemies, talking to friends, and performing the quests or tasks as necessary. I expect a hobbit to plod around slowly, but when I'm playing Spyro, I expect the little purple dragon to be alert and agile. It's much more frustrating to see him plod along slowly, getting stuck on the corners of walls, or moving into a "fast walk" for the charge action.

They did add more complexity to the game by adding in some RPG style elements. You earn experience points by killing off enemies, and you use those to build up your Spyro character. The lower screen lets you perform traditional RPG activities - manage your inventory, look at a general map, track your progress - while the upper screen is your general gameplay area.

On sound, the game is reasonably OK. It doesn't stand out in any way, but it's not awful either.

For people who are fond of the previous Spyro games, with their great three dimensional graphics and focus on arcade quality gameplay, will probably be disappointed here. It is sluggish and relatively low quality for the DS's capabilities. On the other hand, for players who are new to RPGs, this is a cuddly, easy to learn RPG that draws you into it with lots of explanation and hand holding.

Recommended for those seeking to learn how RPGs work!

A so so game

It's so lame, all because of the chracters' movements. It's like, they walk forward, and when they try to turn, they pause. Then they turn around in the same place. Then they go. But Spyro runs faster. The other thing is that Spyro runs so slow, not like in the other games. It's the most boring game ever to me, but maybe to you it won't be. At least I think the background is good! Good job Spyro the Shadow Legacy makers! Woo hoo! Two thumbs up for the background and the good looking monsters, but they would look better with ties and suits.

Different but cool

I first played Spyro 2 gateway to Glimmer when I was 6, now I'm 9 and I have practicly all of his games. The story lines are good and so are the graphics but Spyro Shadow Legacy has the most mysterious game I've ever played its also got spooky graphics. It's probably the best spyro game they have ever made apart from Spyro a Heros Tail and Enter the dragonfly.
