Elmo's Number Journey Rocks!!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 10 / 10

I purchased Elmo's Number Journey for my 4 year old son. We were finding it difficult to find games for our Nintendo 64 which he could play. I am thrilled that I purchased this game. My son not only now knows his numbers but is doing simple addition in his head. (without using his fingers). I love the idea that the game starts out teaching just numbers but then slowly moves into addition by having the player throw the correct number of balls to represent the answer. I also like the idea that there are 3 different levels. I am also a special education teacher and would recommend this game for all children that are just learning their numbers or who are having a difficult time learning addition. I would love to see more of these types of games for the early childhood level. Highly, highly recommended!!!

This game is great for young children just learning. I bought it for my 3 1/2 year old. He loves it! Not only is he learning hand-eye coordination with the controller he's learning how to identify numbers on his own. He gets so proud of himself when he can finish it on his own. Great game!

I paid [an amount] for this...

I got both the Elmo cartridges on clearance for my 2-1/2 yr old, and I'm still disappointed. Each cartridge ("Letters" and "Numbers") has only 3 games on it, and every game, on every cartridge, is _exactly_ the same. Every. Single. One.
In each "game", Elmo moves around a virtual hallway, looking for a specific letter/number. When he touches what he's looking for, he gets a good point. When he touches something else, he gets a bad point. Sometimes, he's walking, sometimes, he's on a little vehicle, but it's always the exact same thing. The only wrinkle is that it's so poorly written, he can walk right through the middle of a what he's looking for, and not get credit for it until the fifth or sixth time hitting it.
Even my little kid thinks these are boring--he loves the fact that it's Elmo, but he keeps playing one cartridge for 2 min, and then switching to the other one, like "maybe _that_ one is the fun one!"
If you're considering this for your kid, don't. It's not even the money, it's the disappointment.

A game for preschoolers, educational and fun music , controls are pretty easy to learn and sesame characters are always a hit with the kids.

I bought this game for my 5 year old and she loves it.It is a very simple game that lets you win almost every time.If you want to get a game that will teach a first time gamer how to play video games this is it.The level she enjoys the most is where elmo rides a jet ski as he looks for the number.I wouldnt recomend this for a kid over 10,its just to simple.

He's learning his numbers great! I highly recommend this game, especially if your child is already playing video games.
