The game is awesome. The qualities weren't different than the red rescue, but it doesn't matter. The story was dramatic and a bit sad, which was a big difference from most pokemon games. There was a touch of suprise in this game. While the story mode was a bit short, the extra dungeons provided fun for many weeks. I don't know why people say that the long dungeons were boring; monster houses and rare hold items are good enough excitement for me! I liked the new additions, such as talking pokemon, monster houses and IQ! I don't have any negative comments...oh yeah! Pokemon company, please get a new taste in music!

Not a bad game but...

I bought this game less than a week ago. It's a good game, okay graphics, and a so-so story line. The characters are appealing and cute for boys and girls, and the game is not violent, yet has good and enjoyable fighting.
The problem I had was it was easy to beat. Like I said, I barely had it a week, and probably beat it in four days. I was dissapointed, and a little angry that I spent all my money on a game that only lasted a few days.
BUT if you did (or even if you didn't) like the game, may I suggest Pokemon Ranger?

Challenging and a Lot of Fun!

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon is my favorite Pokemon game set so far (coming from a 26-year-old female gamer who owns at least one copy of nearly every Pokemon video game that has ever been made). It is FAR more of a challenge than the normal games (like Diamond/Pearl). Pokemon moves in these games have more to them than just type, power, and PP. They also have a range, which adds a whole new element to playing the game and building good teams. Damage from attacks also works a bit differently. Ground attacks will not hit flying types (just not for as much damage), so imunities don't mean as much as they do in the normal games. Terrain and weather were improved for these games, as well. There is a wealth of items to use, and they are pretty plentiful in dungeons.

In short, this is a game that will take a while to complete, and finishing the game's initial storyline is only the beginning. You certainly won't finish every task in a week using that super-powerful starter you probably used to beat Diamond/Pearl. This game will require more training, thought, and strategy to complete every task.

I definately recommend getting a guide to use while playing the game, but it's difficult to say which guide is better to buy. Personally, I like the Nintendo Power guide better because it gives information about the items commonly found in each dungeon (while the Prima guide wastes that space stating the blatently obvious about the dungeon's Pokemon), gives more information about the starters, gives MUCH more info about Friend Areas, and it's Pokedex is better written and less redundant. However, Prima's guide is the only one with information about TM compatibility (and a poster in the back, if you care about such things). Neither one gives dungeon Pokemon levels or in-depth dungeon item appearance statistics.

If you are looking for an easy Pokemon game, this is not the best choice for you. If you beat Diamond in a week or less and dream of something that might actually challenge you a bit, give this a try. (If you have a DS, I recommend Blue over Red, as the second screen makes a great place to keep your level map, and there are a few more wireless features in Blue that are not in Red.)

My kid loves it!

I know nothing about video games. But my 11-year-old son loves this one. The first one he had got stolen by a former friend. And we replaced it right away because it was so much fun for my son.

I LOVE THIS GAME!!

HI! I am playing it right now but i can't get to (spoiler) at the end of frosty path! my team are squirtle lvl 19 and torchic lvl 18!

I think the story is a bit sad especially when (SPOILER WARNING!!)your team become fugitives. I nearly cried when it said the story after beating moltres.

(NO MORE SPOILERS!!!) It's a good game, but if you're easily upset or storys can sadden you steer clear.

At first it was fun, but...

When I first bought this game, I couldn't stop playing it! I really had a great time with it, and it quickly became one of my favorite games. However, a few months later, I started to realize how random this game really is. Usually, this isn't a problem with games like this, but this game is so random that you can't help but not notice it. I was on level 99 of the Buried Relic (I thought this was quite an accomplishment). I was extremely eager to see what was on the 100 level. I saw the stairs and was about to proceed a level when a Golem came and attacked my Pokemon. I forgot what attack it did (some sort of attack where it attacks numerous times in one turn), but it attacked 11 times in a row and knocked out my entire party! I was SO angry! I spent a half of a day trying to get that far! I tried doing different dungeons, but after that one expereince, I just couldn't enjoy it anymore! What's fun about a game where you play countless hours to defeat a dungeon and then lose because the game is so random? Don't waste your money on this game. It was a blast at first, but a couple of months later, I felt like I wasted my money! Now I'm going to sell it for $[...] when I bought it for $[...]! The only reason why I gave it a star was because I can't give it zero!

This is not a Pokemon game

At its heart, the Pokemon series has always been about charm, wonder, character, and a magical sense of freedom. Mystery Dungeon isn't a Pokemon game. It's just a normal game with Pokemon in it. Don't be fooled.

I have loved pokemon since I was 8 or 9 years old.(I am now 12.) At times this love for pokemon may have faded a little, but the arrival of pokemon dungeon has definitely strengthened it. After all, isn't it a bunch of kids' dreams to be a pokemon?

One of the coolest things is THE TEST.(fanfare) You take the test and it determines what pokemon you are. It's an efficent and fun way to learn which pokemon fits your personality.(I was Eevee.)

You wake up one day as a pokemon, with no clue why you're a pokemon, why you can't remember anything, and what these strange dreams are that you've been having. Fortunately, you quickly meet your new (you get to choose) best friend.(I chose Treecko.) But then, before you get a good grip on what's going on, you are called on to take your place in the pokemon world: as a rescuer.

The game is great. The graphics are cool. The new type of battling puts a new twist on the famous, pressure-mounting pokemon battle. Also, the introduction of pokemons' moods is pretty cool, even though not all pokemon have them. The part about how the field changes every time you play is great, so if you want to do it again, it won't seem like a boring do-over. It will be fresh and new.

Being able to make and choose your own rescue team is awesome. It's great that, even if you don't want someone on your team anymore, they won't be lost forever. All you have to do is go get them at their cool-looking friend area.

And while I'm on the subject of friend areas, they're pretty cool. You have to get the right friend area for them or they can't join your team. I also like the idea of friend areas as rescue rewards.

The most important part of the game: Rescues. The thing is, you get a list of rescue jobs, and depending on what level of rescue you feel like going on, you can pick one of your choice. It's that simple.

In conclusion, I gave this game 5 stars because of its detailed graphics, engrossing storyline, and overall ability to be, in my opinion, the funnest, coolest, BEST POKEMON GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!

P.S. If not for the stylus/touch screen, then for the informative double screens. GET THE DS VERSION!!!

P.P.S. I'M A GIRL. GIRLS LIKE VIDEO GAMES TOO. NOT ALL OF US LIKE BARBIES. DON'T PREJUDGE US.

great game
