Best Version of Puzzle League Ever

This is the DS version of the old Tetris Attack, Pokemon Puzzle Leagues and Puzzle League for the GBA.
You move the stylus to move certain colored blocks to line up vertically or horizontally with 2 blocks of the same color to make them disappear. There are several modes to play.
It has all of the old modes of those classics but adds a few more. There is one mode where you have a split second or so to move blocks to make them disappear.
It looks great and the whole vibe feels like the original Meteos from a few years back.
You can play against your friends online if you have a wireless connection with full chat using the special headphone peripheral using the friends codes.
Overall the game is really awesome and worth buying for your collection.

It is alot like tetus, a fun puzzle game. If you are not quick it also has a challenging solve the puzzle section

Great Puzzle Game, Great for DS

This was my first DS game and I was a little hesitant to pick it up, because it was such a new release. However, you will quickly find that this little puzzle game makes great use of the touch screen and allows you to play by holding the DS vertically and using the stylus, or horizontally and using the D-pad. Although I have yet to try the online mode (scared that I will get destroyed), I have played wirelessly with my brother and we had a blast! If you have a DS I strongly suggest you pick this up along with Mario Kart & Elite Beat Agents!

Sort of like Tetris but more variety. Play it on line, I had no problem finding opponents. Play it DS to DS. This was an easy wireless hookup, and only one cartrige required.

Puzzle games have never really been my strong suit. I love to play them but haven't really been all that good at them except for two games. Those being Dr. Mario & Pokemon Puzzle League. Give me those two games and I can stand my ground with just about anyone. To those in the know, Puzzle League started out as Panel de Pon or Tetris Attack(as it's known on these shores) and eventually seen different iterations as Pokemon Puzzle Challenge-Pokemon Puzzle League- and, lastly, as Puzzle League in the Dr. Mario/Puzzle League game for the Gameboy Advance. The game challenged players to flip two tile pairs in a bin left-to-right or right-to-left to form groups of three or more of like colors. In doing so, it would cause them to disappear and make room for more tiles which, in turn, could create combos and rack up your score with additional groupings. If the tiles reach the top of the screen, it's Game Over! While the game itself remains the same, the only difference with this game and its' previous incarnations is how the game is played controlwise(which is by using your stylus or, if you opt the old fashioned way, your D-pad) and the overall feel of the game. Intelligent Systems really went all out on this game and I'm glad they did. After the simpler version of Puzzle League in the Dr. Mario/Puzzle League game on the Gameboy Advance(which I totally beat in a day or so), it's good that they did. Everything is more robust and exciting this time around. It's still addictive after all these years. I just hope Nintendo will make a Dr. Mario puzzle game that's this good and I will be in my own lil 'puzzle heaven'...lol..

I hardly ever recommend a puzzle game unless it is really good and, folks, this game is awesome. I'm addicted all over again.

One of the best puzzle games I've played

The concept is simple - line up three or more matching tiles and they disappear. Build combos for even more points, and see how long you last as they move up the screen faster and faster. I'm a puzzle game addict and I love this one. I got hooked on the GBA version and was delighted that they came out with a DS version. Best yet is that while there are improvements to the game, they didn't completely change it. You can use the touch-screen if you want, but you aren't forced to. I love that because I prefer not using it.

A faithful port of the original game

If you've spent much time playing Tetris Attack or Panel De Pon, you'll be pleased with this faithful port of the original. The basic mechanics are the same, and all of the original game modes except for story-mode are available. A few extra modes including a "mission" mode and garbage attack mode add some replay value, but the veterans are likely to be spending all their time in two minute time attack.

The rate at which blocks disappear and fall has been drastically reduced - the "hard" mode in PPL is slightly slower than the "easy" mode in PDP/TA. While this effectively prevents you from comparing scores between games, there is one new gameplay feature that adds enormously to the depth of the game - the "Exploding Lift", which allows you to raise the stack while a chain is in progress. This, combined with the ability to use the stylus to play the game, makes it a worthwhile investment for anybody who's spent countless hours trying to crack 40,000 or 50,000 in the original time trial.

Online play is mediocre at best - the only available mode is garbage attack with optional items, which is an interesting diversion; but finding players is a slow process, and the lack of a standardized rating system makes posting your high scores elsewhere more competetive.

If you already have a DS, there's no question about picking this up if you're a seasoned PdP/TA fan. If you don't have a DS, buy one, then buy other games so you don't feel like you paid $150 for one game.

This game is great. Forever fun. If you love puzzles this is the game for you. The whole family will enjoy this even the little ones.

Very addicting! The best part is being able to battle other players over the net via Wifi. Wish there was an adventure mode though.

My entire family aged 6 to 39, is having a blast competing for the highest score. Right now that standing highest is 44,000. Pretty modest for most, but it is a blast for us all to compete against each other either for the highest score, wifi with Wii, or wirelessly DS to DS. An avid Tetrisee, this game fills my need from the '90's with a 21st century style. This game has everything but violence. It ups the competitive anti, while increasing problem solving skills, perceptional reasoning, and so much more!
