This game...wow, what can I say? This is the best game I have for the DS, one that I find myself going back to over, and over, and over again. The premise is simple...combine like-colored "meteos" in an attempt to launch them into space, should the planet's gravity permit it. It's a creative, fun variation on Tetris, and offers a ton of unlockables, several different modes, and a multiplayer option that is incredibly intense and enjoyable. The graphics are great, with bright, vibrant colors, and the music, believe it or not, is actually quite good, with different tunes for each planet. In short, a great puzzler, perhaps the best game out there for DS right now...get yours today!

This game is so good that I just had to write a review! It is by far the BEST DS GAME OUT THERE! Meteos is an intense puzzler that's fun and easy to learn. Nice clean graphics, cool-quirky music, and tons of unlockables make this game a must have. But my favorite is the wireless mutliplayer! Up to 4 people can play with only one Meteos game! And if all players have their own copy you can each choose your favorite planet to battle it out! If you have a Nintendo DS get this game!

Meteos is a game that stands head and shoulders above most of the other puzzle games on the DS. When you consider just how many puzzlers exist for the DS you'll realize that's a pretty strong statement, but of all the puzzlers I've seen and played for the handheld system I'd rank Meteos very near the top.
Audience: This is a puzzle game that requires fast reflexes and the ability to use the stylus with some precision. It probably won't be for everyone since coordination (or lack thereof) with the stylus is such a big part of the game. Still, any fan of puzzle games or anyone who likes Tetris or just wants something to kill a little time should find this game appealing.
Graphics and Sound: The graphics on this game are excellent. It would seem that graphics wouldn't make much of a difference for a puzzle game, but the great graphics for Meteos would suggest otherwise. The blocks vary from planet to planet but all look great, the cutscenes and background from space are very attractive, and the animations and explosions are very well done. The soundtrack is also very good.
Gameplay: While the basic gameplay for Meteos is very simple it, like all great puzzle games, takes a long time to fully master. The concept is easy to get the hang of--you can drag blocks up or down in columns using the stylus to line up groups of 3 (either horizontally or vertically). Lining 3 blocks up 'ignites' them, meaning they explode and the blocks above them are propelled upwards. The object is to send as many blocks as possible up, and once they reach the top of the screen they disappear and are "collected," both as a means for keeping score on whatever stage you're on and also for future use.
Meteos you've 'collected' are saved according to color (each color represents an element or basic material) and stored for future use. You can use these meteos, acquired from any of the many gameplay modes, to 'create' (unlock) new planets, items, and rare materials. Each planet has a different composition of materials, a different gravitational pull (this affects the blocks you send into the sky when you ignite a row of 3 meteos), and offers a very different experience, so these planets are worth unlocking.
Control: This game is played entirely with the DS stylus. Whereas some games seem to throw stylus control in as an afterthought, the whole gameplay of Meteos revolves around it. Precision is very necessary when using the stylus for this game, however, and at times I find myself grabbing the wrong block.
Challenge: There are so many modes of gameplay available in Meteos that there is always something challenging to do. You can scale the difficulty in many of the games, though with some of them the blocks just keep getting faster and faster until you eventually lose. Some modes are actually pretty easy, but some offer such a challenge that I'm not sure how anyone can handle the highest difficulty settings.
Multiplayer: Up to 4 people can play with one cartridge. I consider this a must with puzzle games like this, and Meteos delivers.
Meteos is definitely one of those must own games if you're into puzzlers, and should be at least considered by anyone who owns a DS. This game is relatively difficult to find as of this writing, and for good reason--it's an absolute classic.
Something Decent To Play Until Tetris Is Released For DS

I had heard and read quite a bit about 'Meteos' before I purchased it: "Fun", "Addictive", "Like 'Tetris' Only Better", etc. So I bought it and was a little disappointed.
'Meteos' is a puzzle game. Sort of like the aforementioned Russian classic, but with a few tweaks. They've been explained here previously by other reviewers so I'll skip that part in my review. It has got nice(though simple)graphics, excellent responsiveness on the touch screen, and lots of music. The difference in gravities during each stage is a cool little feature. But alas, nowhere during any of my time playing 'Meteos' did it ever come anywhere near as addictive as 'Tetris'.
'Meteos' is a fun little game. Maybe I was expecting too much or maybe I was expecting something different. Its not a bad game, but I'll never sit and play for hours on end trying to beat my high score. Its a fun yet fleeting diversion that you will eventually bore you. Its something decent to bide your time until a DS version of 'Tetris' is released.
a game for the tetris fans

Personally, I am not one to play puzzle games, but this puzzle game can't be exactly defined as a normal puzzle game, it's fast, there are enemies, different levels with different ways of playing, multiple 1 Player modes, multiplayer modes, and ending bosses. I don't know about the rest of you, but this game screams action game. This game was created by the same game designer as the mario smash bros. games, so you know it's gonna make a hit. Another great thing about the game is the soundtrack, every planet has it's own theme song and sound effects. Also, the game has a ton of replay value, there are different endings that depend on you're score, path, and ability to complete missions in one mode, and there are a ton of unlockables, like planets you can use in the main game as in the multiplayer, and the soundtrack from the planets that you can listen to in the extras section. I seriously reccomend this game to puzzle fanatics and any other gamer out there.
Absolutley Delightful

One of the greatest games i have ever played. Addictive and very very quirky. From the creator of the amazing game Lumines, how bad can this game really be? Let me start by saying, im not too avid at puzzle games. As a matter of fact i tend to hate them. But this one instantly hooked me with its cleverness and unique style. I urge you to go to a DS download station and try this game more than once, because at first it seems stupid, but then you are hooked. Trust me. I havent gotten a chance to play multiplayer with real people yet, but playing against the computer is simply amazing. My DS lite has never been more fun to play.
Excellent single and multiplayer

This is definitely one of the better games out for the Nintendo DS. I'd highly recommend this for anyone looking for an addicting puzzle game. Very fun multiplayer, lots of unlockable features, and a quick, engaging single-player mode as well.
The game play is quite hectic at first, but give it a chance, it will grow on you.
Meteos is too addicting...

Meteos is sorta like Tetris and Cubix 2 (The game on msn) rolled into one with a hint of the DS game, Nanostrike. Basically, you line up different colored cubes (Some are green for herb, blue for water, red for fire ect.) as they are falling down. You can line up 3 or more cubes vertically, or horizantally. But you have to line up 3 of the SAME colored cubes. Then, they "blast off" off of the screen. Its sorta like Tetris since if the screen fills up, you lose, and your planet dies. But this isn't the only thing. You have weapons to use to destroy the blocks. They come randomly, and sometimes not at all, but its fun having the feeling that your loaded with weapons for an added feel of sofistication.
This game is hard to describe as fun, when I'm writing the review, but the game itself when you play it is 10x more fun than what it says in my review. Once you play it, you CAN'T GET OFF!!!! I've been playing soo much that my vision is starting to dull. But as soon as I see my Meteos game in my DS, I forget about that and start playing. This game is really addicting, and I'M WARNING YOU, don't play it when somebody's talking to you, because you:
A: Won't listen
B: Say, "Yeah,uh, huh, sure," all the time somebody is talking to you.
C: Get spanked because you forgot what they just told you.
Okay, one more thing about Meteos:
When you get enough Meteos (The blocks) then you can FUSE new planets, rare metals, weapons and SOUNDS!!!! When you listen to your fused sounds, it's mainly the backround music that you heard when you were playing Meteos. Sometimes its GREAT, but the music can get annoying at times.
Mainly, this game is suppose to be for those days when you are in thinking mode, and you want something fun to do. There's not really a story mode or adventure when you move your little animae character around a field, it's just a VERY, EXTREMELY FUN and CHALLENGING game.
Overall, I HIGHLY reccomend buying this addicting game, because it doesn't use any of the screens for useless maps. It takes full advantage of the DS (Except for the microphone).
BUY IT!!!!!IT'S GREAT!! RECCOMENDED FOR THE FIRST GAME YOU BUY FOR THE NINTENDO DS!!!!!!!!

It's a fun puzzle game that gets you addicted real quick. Each world has its own gravity, its own atmosphere, and its own amount of space for the meteos to land, so every single puzzle is different and you have to know each one to be the best at it. the controls are easy to learn, yet its still challenging. Also the fact that you can play with someone that doesnt even have the game is a big big plus. If you liked tetris, you'll love this.
