Disappointing

Just like it's predecessor, Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy is a strangely fun and addictive take on George Lucas' classic fantasy universe, using Lego blocks for just about everything in the game. This makes the game series not only family friendly, but a blast to play regardless of your age. Now the series makes it's debut on the DS, and while it still provides some of the fun found on the home console versions, something has noticibly been lost in translation. Taking advantage of the DS' 3-D graphics capabilities, Lego Star Wars 2 still has most of the same charming look that you've seen on the consoles, and the levels and areas are nicely designed as well for the most part. However, as you further play through the game, the more and more apparent the bugs and glitches become. From a schizoid camera to graphical glitches to some mind boggling AI issues, the game is packed with bugs that nearly ruin the game. However, I said nearly, and thanks to the game's lack of difficulty and use of infinite lives, it's not impossible to get through the game. Then again, it won't take you long to get through the game either. Now, just about everyone who's played the console versions knows how short the game is. Now imagine that shortness decreased even more to fit onto a DS card. This is a big disappointment, but unlike the game's many glitches and bugs, this was to be expected. There are some multiplayer features here as well, which are a blast to play through and are worth checking the game out for alone. That being said, unlike the home console versions and even the PSP and GBA versions, Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy for the DS is worth a look, but is better left on the shelf.

VERY FRUSTRATING!!!

First off, the concept for this game is great, unfortunately all the glitches makes it very hard to get through. For instance, I played a space level on co-op with my friend, then quit. Now every time I go to the Mos Eisley cantina, (That is where you start every time you load a file or start a new game.) I start out as a TIE fighter! Believe me, that dosn't work at all. Congrats to me. I was 71% done with the game and now I can't continue. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!

Started out fun but quickly turned bad...

So many bugs in this game don't know where to begin. There were several times where my ship would disappear or the landscape would turn black and all you see are your characters. Characters always get stuck in corners etc. Just read the reviews below... My [...] year old son hates it too. I've always enjoyed all of the DS games until I bought this POS. Save your money.

Glitches for All!

This game is the most glitchy game I've ever played. In most games, you say, "Whoah, look! a glitch". But in this game if you ever get some amazing stroke of luck you may be able to say,"Yeah! No glitches!" but that will never happen as every level has a glitch that often times will trap you and not let you finish or the game will actually freeze and you will have to turn it off and start from your last save point. If you get this game, do not expect much, and save OFTEN. But it would be best to save your money and get a good and well planned out game like Star Fox Command, Mario Kart DS, The New Super Mario Bros., or Eragon (Yes, Eragon is actually a GOOD game made from a movie!).

Not very well thought out...

There is a process you go through in game development called play testing. They must have skipped this.

The player control itself is enough to make you throw your DS against the wall. I have (sadly enough) put over 60 hours into playing the PS2 version of this game. They actually keep track of it for you. I wasn't expecting the same experience as the PS2 version, but I also wasn't expecting pure frustration.

They simply didn't scope this out very well and didn't put much thought into the strengths and weaknesses of the DS system.

Great game but not so easy on the DS

This is the first Lego Star Wars game I have played on the DS and I just am not enjoying it too much. I played the original game on the PS2 and thought it was the best game since ICO. The controls on the PS2 were perfect. Now this game on the DS is well, not so perfect. The firing controls are tough and basically you just have to aim near the item to hit it. But often it's not that easy to aim.
On the DS you do not use the touch screen to control the characters, you use the directional pad. This makes crossing narrow platforms SLOW work. The low resolution of the DS screens also leaves a lot of the fun graphics to the imagination. Don't get me wrong - I love the DS.
My opinion - buy Lego SW II for a non-portable system if you want the best experience. For on the go types, the DS will keep you busy but you will be missing out a little.

Not as much fun as the Xbox version

Being a fan of the console version I thought it would be nice to have a portable version. Unfortunately the movements of the characters are really hard. I found it too hard to navigate the cat-walks and found myself blasting my other team member more then the Storm Troopers. It's too bad more thought wasn't put into this game before release as it had a lot of potential. My son has the GameBoy advance version of Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy which he seems to enjoy so I would recommend grabbing a copy of that if you really want a portable version of this game.

Horrible Game Play

The Nintendo DS version of this game is horrible.
There are a lot of glitches in the game that make it hard to enjoy it. You can't even beat the game because of the glitches and some levels won't even let you go on. Who ever made this game obviously never played it.

I do recomend the game though...on a different console. The gamecube version is just fine, spend the money on that, not on this one.

Lego Star Wars II - Fun but hard

The game is very hard but getting the mini-kits is harder. 10 mini-kits = 1 new person. There is no blood and no graphic deaths since it is a Lego game. Well worth the cost.

Utter disappointment

I waited forever for this game. I had the older version of Lego Star Wars and it was great. I heard about this one and I couldn't wait for it. I finally got it, and it went back to the store a day later. The game is full of gliches, some of the gliches I could get around. The real show stopper and disappointment came when I got to episode 4 level 4, my character disappeared and I couldn't control the character, so it kept dying and I couldn't continue the game. I was able to get a store credit for another game, I recommend you return to the store where you purchased the game and show the sales clerk all the problems and glitches with the game. If enough people do this the manufacturer will get the message. We should not stand for poor quality control in these games.
