This game really is da bomb! So much better than the original BEAST WARS. The origonal was solw, simple, but this version has new graphics, sounds, players, and so much more. It is slightly more comlicated than the last version, but that's a good thing!

The best game ever

First of all, the screenshot given for this game is of the old Beast Wars PSX game, which was vastly inferior to this game.

Anyway, I own the Japanese version and it is a very good fighting game. It doesn't have really any complex combos, but still has a variety of attacks and special moves. Similar to Tekken, but you can move around freely in arenas and interact with the backgrounds (throw rocks at opponents or avoid hazards). The game is best played in difficult mode to get the best challenge, but still isn't overly complicated. All the players can transform into both beast and vehicle modes (Fuzors excluded). Several CGI movies are also contained in the game and beautifully rendered. An added bonus to the US version are four secret playable characters! And an even bigger bonus is that the REAL voice actors from the TV show were brought in to do the voices in the game!

Overall, it's a great game for TF fans and even more fun with 2 players. Die-hard fans of the fighting genre may find the gameplay simplistic and blow through it quickly, but it's a great game to combat as your favourite BW characters.

Beast Wars gets transformed into an killer fighter

The first Beast Wars game for the sony playstation left much to be desired, but thanks to Bam! Entertainment and Hasbro, this latest incarnation of the Beast wars transformers game took the series to new heights. Beast Wars: Transmetals is without a doubt the best Transformer game to date. Using the same tried and true fight engine as other popular fighters(think powerstone on DC) this game brings the house down. The Transformers all look very close to their TV counterparts, complete with the orignal voice actors, and so much attention was given to detail in this game that they all even transform exactly the same wheter in beast or robot mode. This game is also highly interactive, from the second you pick up your controller you'll be jumping out of your seat, dodging falling boulders, snow storms, lava pits, energon crystals, quicksand, and as if all that wasnt enough you still have that do-gooder maximal or pesky predacon to deal with. But dont fret, you can also use this to your advantage by picking up various objects like boulders and crystals to get the upper hand in battle. The modes featured in this game are superb! You get your standard arcade mode which has been beautifully woven into a story mode where you can choose to fight as the maximals or the predacons trying to make your way to the enemy base stronghold to either save or conquer the universe. Also a impressive story mode where you can just sit back and watch the the tfs duke it out in TV style with dramatic camera angles, letting you view the action from all sides. Youve also got your Survival MOde, Training mode, and VS mode to challenge a friend or the computer in any stage you choose. This game is also packed with goodies like an extras mode where you can listen to all the voices, music, and sounds from the game, and a very impressive photo gallery of the actual various toys produced for Beast Wars to help you on those buying descisions. Great stuff indeedy! The game also has hidden secrets to unlock like hidden characters and more options to add to the extas the more the game is played. Hands down, a definite must own title for any TF fan. Roll out to your nearest game store now and grab this game.

I bought this game and I thought it was pretty good but it would be even better if Megatron X the Dragon was on it like on the 64 version. And they could of made better secret characters but still it is a good game to have.

Better than the orignal but still lacks depth

I have both the original Beast Wars game and the new Beats Wars Transmetals and have to say the new game is the better of the two. However, the computer AI is very lax and the lack of true combos limits the fighting system. It is not as complicated as other games like Street Fighter Alpha 3, but it is not as simple as Super Smash Bros. The game is true 3d and i enjoyed hearing Airazor and Terrorsaur again, but it found the bosses easy and the voice overs during transformation irritating. If you like the Beast Wars television series, then the game isn't half bad. But if you are expecting Tekken, you will be dissapointed.

Beast Wars

I think the title sums up the game quite nicely, but for all you unbelivers... This game, based off of 8 Transmetal Transformers; is an edge of your seat fighting game. Controling your character as far as fighting and using special weapons is easy and not difficult. Stratagy is the key, to know when to block, when to move and especially when to tap a keg on the enemy's head. The only reason this review isnt a five is because I do wish the game was a little longer and included two or four more popular Beast Wars charaters.

Fun, but don't expect too much

There are a lot of good points about this game. It's relatively simple to learn and play, it has a lot of extras, and it looks good. The best feature is probably the presence of the original voice actors doing most of the voices (some seem to have doubled up on roles to fill in for co-workers not present). Their appeal has been milked for all it's worth, from Megatron introducing one of the company logos to different comments from the individual characters in each stage. The CGI videos, while not as technically stunning as the show, feature the lovely body language which makes the characters come alive. There are also four hidden characters with there own sets of phrases. However, in spite of all the extras, there's not much to this game. Beating it on easy mode yeilds the same results as beating it on hard. The Save feature is also rather strange in some places. It's worthwhile if you loved the show, but not a great game in and of itself.
