Pretty good game

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 1 / 4

I really enjoyed playing this game. The graphics were okay and the controls were simple. Unfortunitly, that about all the good things I have to say. For a fighting game, it's too easy. Setting the difficulty to hard only presents a small challange. And even on hard, the game is short. In the survival mode, where you get to fight every charecter arcade style, I was anle to beat it in a little over 5 minutes. Way too short. And the story mode is about the same. The replay value of this game, for lack of a better term, [is bad]. Once you've done everything there is to do, there's really no initiative to continue. In short, this would be an okay game to rent, but unless you are a true die-hard Beast Wars Transformers collecter, I wouldn't suggest a purchase.

People, people, people. This game is not at all what i expected. I first saw this game at a mall but didn't have enough money to buy it. I got the money and Bought it here.

WARNING it is a fighting game , not a strategy. You can only be 8 wimpy characters that have only 2 special attacks that are easy to dodge. The voices are o.k. but they only say 2 lines.

The battle grounds suck and the graphics are horrible. You can only use Optimus, Cheetor , Rat trap, Silverbolt for the Maximals and For the Predecons you can only use Megatron, Tarantulas, quick strike and Rampage. T

This game is easy to beat as i am not a pro gamer but i beat it on hard in less than 10 minutes.

I think the title sums up the game quite nicely, but for all you unbelivers... This game, based off of 8 Transmetal Transformers; is an edge of your seat fighting game. Controling your character as far as fighting and using special weapons is easy and not difficult. Stratagy is the key, to know when to block, when to move and especially when to tap a keg on the enemy's head. The only reason this review isnt a five is because I do wish the game was a little longer and included two or four more popular Beast Wars charaters.

BEAST WARS: TRANSMETALS.

This game is a vast improvement over the original Beast Wars, that appeared on playstation consoles back in 1997, but there's still room for improvement.

First off, this game, like the original, was made before the show's final season, so many great characters, or better versions of existing ones, were not included, such as: Optimal Optimus, Transmetal II Megatron, Depth Charge, Transmetal II cheetor, and Transmetal II Dinobot. But what I disliked even more, was that star characters, that had been with the show since season one and two were also left out, just because they weren't 'transmetals'. And what was the deal with that unofficial transmetal rhineox?!

I also did'nt like the way the battle fields were designed. I was hoping for something in a 'third person' perspective. A game that offered a full 3-D environment, along with the ability to fly. Instead, this game offeres you flying characters that only look to hover about a foot off the ground, and the camera that's is almost always positioned at a bird's eye view.

On the positive side, the characters looked and sounded better than I expected. Besides being a little pixelated, which can be smoothed over when played on the PS2, they look very true to their t.v. show counterparts. It has also come to my knowledge that Bam! Entertainment will be making a 'NEW BEAST WARS GAME' for PLAYSTATION 2! It's been delayed now for over a year, but is rumored it could be hitting the stores sometime in 2002! I just hope this new 128-bit incarnation, if it ever comes out, will feature EVERY version of EVERY character that ever appeared in Beast Wars, along with fighting arenas that offer battles in the air, underwater, as well as on the ground. Becaust if this new PS2 game is released, it could likely be the last Beast Wars game ever.

The license is the only value.

I wish there were a side-scrolling shoot'em up based on the classic Transformers characters. Imagine controlling classic Megatron yourself, then with a press of a button you become a gun held in an ally's hand! Or even a Capcom "Vs."-style fighting game -- Optimus Prime, with one deft super move, transforms into a giant truck and crushes the opponent!

I was interested in seeing the Transformers license used in this game but unfortunately, the playing experience has been shabby. Beast Wars: TransMetals just isn't a well-designed action game. For one thing, it's based on characters that are more fun, probably, as toys than as game characters. So the robots can transform into beasts and vehicles. But they look so bad in their 3D-model form that I hardly care for them. "Optimus Primal"? Transforming into a Gorilla? And this game features way too much voice work, all poorly done. "Primal" doesn't have the kind of compelling voice that, say, the Optimus Prime of the classic Transformers series on TV did. I can't tell one character from another, and it's obvious the script was written to very young kids, featuring a lot of empty bravado that just bogs down the pacing of the game.

The fighting system? No blocking, just a lot of running around and button-mashing, hoping you hit. And switching to a "special screen" every time either player transforms just kills the momentum of the fights.

I love giant-robot games like Armored Core and even Omega Boost. But Beast Wars: TransMetals fails the grade.

Rent this one before buying!

I purchased Transformers Beast Wars Transmetals based on the great reviews I read from other Amazon reviewers. After playing it, I wondered if they were talking about the same game.

I am a diehard Transformers fan, but the gameplay and lack of characters in this game did not hold my attention for much more than an hour. The fighting engine is probably one of the worst I have ever seen. The camera angles during the fighting sequences sometimes makes it hard to figure out what is going on. The different fighting terrains was a nice touch but it doesnt help the poor gameplay. If you are a fan of the Tekken based fighting games you will be highly disappointed by this title.

As far as 3-D fighters go, you are better off with Tekken 3, MK4, Dead or Alive, Soul Blade or Bloody Roar....these games are much more fun for single or multiple players than Tranformers, Beast Wars, Transmetals.

I bought this game and I thought it was pretty good but it would be even better if Megatron X the Dragon was on it like on the 64 version. And they could of made better secret characters but still it is a good game to have.
