I liked the movie, so I got the game for Christmas. The minute i started playing it, I was very disipointed. The Graphics are ugly and way to polygonic. The gameplay is plain, boring and pointless. I though it was going to be like Tomb Raider or Indy Jones. Instead, it's like Small Soldiers video game; your objective is to kill everything and everyone (what would "real" egyptologists think of this?). You run through the Egyptian temples like you're runing through a boot camp training gantulet. When O'conell runs, he looks like he's running on hot colls. The voices don't even sould like the real actor; O'conell sounds like a British trying to be a locked-jaw American. ....

This game is fun if you like straightfrward simple games. If you're looking for a challenge, look elsewhere. If you liked the movie, this may provide limited enjoyment, but the sloppy controls and lack of replay value should bore away any serious gamers.
Scary movie - even scarier game

The only scary thing about this game is that you paid to play it. If Hollywood put as little effort into its movies as game companies put into the adaptations, people would watch re-runs of "Suddenly Susan" and stay home.
The WORST adaptation of a movie ...

I was very excited when they announced that there was a game for one of my favorite movies. But that excitement ended very fast when I began to play it. The graphics were THE WORST I have never seen before. Rick O' Connell looks like somebody hit him with a pan. Very bad. And the game... a Frustrating experience. It's SO bad I sold it as a trade in and I guess I won.

both of the movies were great, but this game is pathetic! i had a sleepover with my friends and my mom went out and rented 2 games we wanted ready to rumble boxing and some other game but they didn't have it so she got the mummy. so i was thinking cool maybe it will be as good as the movie. i was wrong after the first 5 minutes or so me and my friends were both bored and frustrated. DONT GET IT DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
It is not that bad to compere with other PS games

I loved the movies and got the game and thought with the cheats it was cool. Infedent ammo lives and weapons, its not that bad. Thay could have made the graphics better, and made more like the movie
How many great movies must be turned into bad games!

I've rented this game, and how I regret that I didn't pick up a different one! The graphics are absurd. The faces are detailed, but Brendan Fraser looks chunky in the cinemas and there is lots of polygon pop up. The control is a pain. Why does it take forever to walk backwards? And why does pressing the jump button take you so far? Some jumps seem impossible to make. The camera can be a problem too. Whenever I start shooting, the camera goes over my head making it difficult to see the enemy. I can't even beat the second level, so I'm not sure what the rest of the game is like. But with the problems I mentioned it will probably just get worse. The only things this game has to offer is the satisfaction of shooting or slicing mummies like Brendan Fraser. The music is pretty cool.

If you're looking for fun, challenging, action-based games...leave this one on the shelf. This is yet another video game that is loosely (and I do mean LOOSELY) based on a popular movie that doesn't even come close to living up to expectations. Other than the movie-clips present at the begining and the movie characters names, there is no connection. Now, don't get me wrong, the movie wasn't exactly a showpiece either but at least you knew that going in. As for the game...geez, where do I begin?
The characters look like clunky, poorly drawn blobs as they move around the screen. The camera angles are horrifying and 80 percent of the time you are trying to compensate for this, all the while you're being whacked by some pharoh or whatever it's supposed to be (again, its hard to tell with the attack of the block-headed creatures). The controls are sloppy to the point of being totally unforgivable. Your character often plunges to his death because you cant control his movement or worse yet, because the damn camera is at the wrong angle. The music is looped so you hear the same few tunes over and over, which is beyond boring. Voice talent is limited as are the various creatures that attack you. The game has very little challenge unless of course you count the sloppy control features and camera problems...but I doubt you'll want to include that since that really makes it FRUSTRATING instead of challenging.
Overall, I really can't think of anything good to say about this game except that it makes other games seem alot better. The only reason it got one star is that there isn't a lower rating that you can submit. If you enjoy action games, there are much better ones out there like Spiderman 2000. If you are still bound and determined to try The Mummy Blunder anyway, you'll want to rent it first....you'll be over it soon.
Simple Premise (kill Mummies) but a blast and a challenge

I don't play a lot of video games; we bought a Game Cube last year and we have a few games, then we "inherited" my nephew's PS1game and "The Mummy" along with it. My nephew, like most teens, is very prolific at these games, but he got stuck on the 3rd level(caverns of the Nile) when he could'nt make it down the river on the log. I'm in my late 40's with a degree in US History, so I'm drawn to anything even remotely historical. I LOVE this game! Yes, some of the graphics are a little outdated, but games have come a long way on the past 5 years. The weapons, fights, and various settings are very well done, and the music and the many booby traps keep you on the edge of your seat.I have made it through all 16 levels, in just a few months; pretty good for someone with NO game experience at all. If I had more time, I would play it 2 hours a day, every day- but I don't. And for those "reviewers" who complained about it being unrealistic ("I'm sure Egyptologists are killing everyone"), well HELLO! This, like 99% of video games is FICTION! Anyway,if you want a game with a simple premise, lots of action and progressively harder challenges, give "The Mummy" a try. My only regret is that I won't get a chance to try "The Mummy Returns", as it is a PS2 game. If I had a chance to purchase a less-used copy of "The Mummy" I would, as mine is starting to wear out!PS. The 4 or 5 chase scenerios and the 2 trips downriver on logs are an absolute challenge, and a BLAST!
An almost perfect game
