Yeah, it's addictive....

...but lacks something that other great puzzle games have: In most addictive puzzle games, you keep finding new ways to improve your game (i.e., "Oh! I didn't know you could slide a piece in sideways!"). Once you play for an hour or so, you probably will have figured out all the tricks. It's fun, alright, but not where-did-the-time-go fun.

The game goes like this: You start out at the top of an endless supply of multi-colored bricks--kinda like standing at the top of a filled Tetris screen. Your objective is to drill down as far as possible without getting crushed by the falling bricks above you. Your drill destroys one brick at a time (either below, to the right, to the left, or above you). If there are unsupported bricks above the one you destroyed, those will fall. Bricks of the same color, in goups of four or more, will evaporate, and unsupported bricks above those will fall. This is what can result in some satisfying, or fatal, chain reactions. All of this is complicated by the fact that you have to keep finding air capsules to breath as you descend....if you run out of air, you are dead.

A critical shortcoming is the lack of a two-player option. A competitive version would have added to the value of this game. Perhaps they are saving that for the sequel. For great puzzle gameplay with a higher addiction level, I recommend Geom Cube and the Bust-A-Move puzzle games (both of which have great 2-player options). If you already have these, then Mr. Driller isn't a bad choice at all.

A Great game for a Great price.

First off I'm a huge puzzle game fan. Mr. Driller is a great game if your a fan of puzzle games.

I've heard alot of people say it gets boring too fast. When I took it over to my friends place we spent our time beating everything. After we had completed all the Time Attack modes they where getting bored so I reset the PS and we spent more time beating them for a second time. So when you, or if you, get bored just start all over again.

The game is quite simple compaired to other puzzle games. The goal is to drill your way underground collecting Air on the way. Blocks are coming up from under the ground and filling Downtown. In time attack mode you are given a time to beat then you must race against the clock to drill your way to the bottom. Instead of Air you collect extra time.

The music is great! I can't believe that the music is this good for a puzzle game. Mr. Driller is really addictive and if you get bored you'll spend lots of time beating the time attack mode over again.

Give it a try. It is worth the [money] you'll pay.

Cheap Thrills

I must say for the price it is a great buy. Its not a lot of money to spend on such a good game. It is very addictive, and great for all ages.

A very simple game with very easy controls yet addictive. There are several different gameplays (timed, arcade, survival) and each with their own goals. You basically attempt to take Mr. Driller down as many levels as you can in the meantime avoiding falling blocks and picking up air capsuls. There isn't a whole lot of strategy involved although as you move along you learn how the blocks react to your actions. Except for the Timed mode - its not about speed but strategy - of course I spent most of my time just moving as quickly as I could and laughing at the consequences.

Non-violent, fun game for kid's and adults alike.

Drill me another, please!

Wow, who could have thought that something as simple and cute as this game is sooooo addictive. You must drill down, trying to escape falling blocks as they fall 'Tetris' style whilst trying to keep your oxygen levels up at the same time. The graphics are great for this simple game, the background music enhances the fun. Does get harder the deeper you dig. RECOMMENDED FOR ALL AGES!

A great game!

My 4-year-old brother, mom, and I all love to play this game. My brother likes it because it's pretty simple and you get to destroy (drill through) stuff. I like it because it's a challenge, but not too challenging, and very fun to do and see. My mom likes it because it's cute, basicly.

We also named some of the different kinds of blocks you see in the game- for instance, melted jellybean, ice cream (or whipped cream), sick (or icky), and ice cube.

If you like this game, you'll also love Spin Jam. We bought these two games at the same time, having rented them many times before. I was so happy to find them on the internet!

Mr. Driller has no positive aspect whatsoever

I'll put it simple, it's the worst game on the face of the earth. It's also a waste of money.
