A Childhood Classic Can Now be Yours!

This game brings back such great memories. It is one of my all time favorites. Basically, the premise is that you are Bucky O'Hare, captain of the Righteous Indignation S.P.A.C.E. ship. Bucky is the leader of a band of colorful and idiosyncratic freedom fighters struggling to keep the Aniverse (an alternate universe populated by anthropomorphic farm animals) from falling under the sway of the Toad warriors.

In the game, the crew of the Righteous Indignation captured by the Toad Mother Ship, and only Bucky escapes. As Bucky, you must single handedly engage in an interplanetary rescue mission to retrieve your imprisoned comrades.

Every time you clear a stage, your crewmates join you on your quest and each posses a specialized weapon, making the game especially cool. For instance, Bucky's weapon of choice is a "maser" gun that shoots standard pellets (a la Mega Man). Deadeye Duck the gunner, has a short range, shotgun-like weapon. Jenny, second in command, hurls concentrated blasts of psychic energy at her enemies, and so on.

An even cooler aspect of the game is each character's unique special technique that you can use by charging it up with the "B" button. Given the variety of characters, weapons, and special technique, the game play stays fresh long after repeated plays.

The landscape of the game itself is expertly crafted. In order to clear obstacles, a player must use both the power of skilled thumbs and razor-sharp puzzle solving skills. They tend to be tough, but nothing to lose sleep over: they are easy enough to clear with a try or two.

Overall, this game is a great buy. This oldie shows that fancy graphics and overwrought soundtracks aren't the key to becoming a classic . . . spaceships and aliens are!
