Bonk's Adventure first appeared in 1990 for the Turbo Grafx-16 game machine. Remember that? If you don't, the reason for the Turbo Grafx-16's downfall was it was competing with the Sega Genesis, which came out the same time and Turbo Grafx-16 lost. The game machine was different because it did not operate on a full-size cartridge, but instead it operated with a little thick plastic card that you insert, but basically it worked the same way as a regular cartridge, as the game card to Bonk's had top quality sound and graphics (for 1990, that is). For some reason I found that Bonk's ripped off Super Mario Bros. Whereas on Super Mario Bros. you hop on top of your enemies to elimate them, with Bonk's you bash your enemies with your head. Bonk's is incredibly fun because not only can you bonk your enemies, but you can find all sorts of hidden vegetables, fruits, and red hearts, to help heal Bonk when you accidentally run in to an enemy, as well as purple hearts which gives you extra power points (which you need to fill up by fruits, vegetables, and red hearts). There are plenty of hidden rooms so always be sure to press up on your controller. Another real fun thing is to find meat. If you get a small piece of meat, you need to find another, and Bonk becomes invincible and can run through all the monsters, lava, lava pits, and all other dangerous places without being hurt until he stops flashing. You'll also have to encounter bosses which you'll learn how to kill, as each boss is different, and more challenging as the game goes on. There's one level that I like best and it's the one where the surface is icy and you have to attempt to catch a running ice block if you're to make it through this level. There's a lot of fun things to do and discover of this game, but the only reason why I knocked a star off is it isn't exactly what you call original but it's sure a lot of fun.
