A game with a great challenge

"Subterrania" isn't like any other video game ever made, and in a good way. You control a spaceship that is bound by gravity, it will slowly fall to the ground if you don't keep flying. There are several levels and you have an objective in each. In all the levels, you have to find a certain number people who are waiting to be rescued, a Sub-Module, and complete a certain objective which can range from picking up reflectors in order to reflect laser shots back at your enemies in order to destroy them and break through a barrier, to just finding an awesome-looking boss and defeating him. All the while, while you're completing your mission, you have to keep your ship fueled up, and then get back to your base and land the ship on it once you finish your mission. You can find certain items in the games such as different weapons, missiles, extra lives, etc.

"Subterrania" had some great graphics for the time it was made, the sound effects and music are done well, the control might take some getting used to at first, but it's not bad in any means, and the game can be a lot of fun. Just one warning, some people might hate this game because it can be unbelievably hard in certain levels. Make sure you read your objective so you'll know exactly what you have to do in each level or you will get lost real quick.

I recommend anybody who has a Sega Genesis to at least rent this game. It's an underrated game for the system.

without a doubt, the hardest Genesis game I have

Subterrania is different from any other game in many ways. First, the main challenge in the game is fighting gravity along with all the bosses, and the missions you have to complete. And you have to rescue so many people in each level and find a Sub-Module that's hidden somewhere in the level. After doing all that, you complete the level by getting back to your base safely. Subterrania had great graphics for the time, and also great sound. It's also fun once you get the hang of it. But, it is a real hard game. I can beat most of my Sega games, but I haven't ever been able to get past Mission 8 on this game. It's so challenging because you have to keep your ship fueled up, and you can die real quick even by just scraping a wall for a few seconds.

If you like good, sci-fi games that have a good challenge to them, this could be a game that you might enjoy. Even if you're not a video game expert or you don't like games that have complicated missions, you might enjoy Subterrania. Overall, I'd recommend it if you want a different kind of game with a great challenge.
