I renember playing this game when I was three. I renember every thing that was in the game. And still play this game to this very day. I own every sonic game they ever made for Sega Genesis from Sega Genesis to Sega 32x. and the system and all the other games and stuff with it is in mint condition. The game inspired me to keep on buying sonic games and mergndice if they ever made it. If you own a Sega Genesis and dont have these games or all the other ones, I recomend yoy get them because these are the best games for the system and they are full of action and adventure and have great challenging levels and bosses. I also recomend this game for all kids. Im sure they would love this game and all the other sonic games.

I would have to say that STH was only the beginning the the greatest video game saga Sega ever created. Sure it was only the first game and in the later three game STH2 STH3 and S&K you would discover more but, you'll never know the true feel of this series without starting off at the begining.

This game ROCKS!

This was the very first video game I ever owned. It's way better than all the other Sonic games. You go through many fun levels. Too bad my mom sold our Sega Genisiss. But still, if you can find it anywhere still, get it!

Sonic the Hedghog An Exellent Sega Classic

Sonic the Hedehog was the first ever Sonic game released. This game is one of the funnest games you will play on the Genesis. Sonic spans a variety of different levels ranging from speeding through Green Hills, underwater labyrinths, and even Space. Sonic the Hedgehog also has a nice sound track, each stage has its own kind of music, which is really well done. Sonic the Hedgehog is an exellent Sega Classic and if you want to know how it all started this is the game for you. Fast, Furious, Fun, what more could you ask for; buy it before it disappears. And have fun!

An all-time classic that needs to be on CD-ROM!

I'll never forget the christmas of 1992, when I was the happiest six-year-old kid on my street, unwrapping my spiffy new Sega Genesis, and holding two new games: this, and Sonic 2. What fun gameplay and memories I was in for...

As everyone and their mother knows, Sonic 1's plot is that the evil Dr. Robotnik is not only capturing many small innocent animals and turning them into evil robots, but plans to take over Mobius (their planet) and turn it from forests and clean air to factories and smelly air (I'll spare you the New Jersey joke). It is now up to Sonic to defeat Robotnik and make everything right again.

Although Sonic 2 remains my favorite, this is without a doubt a close second. I know the graphics may seem somewhat dated today, but for 1991, this was pretty damn good. Bright, vibrant colors, and great atmosphere (love the city skyline in Star Light Zone). It goes from a bright, sunny atmosphere (Sun Light Zone) to a big industrial factory (Scrap Brain). Along the way, there are various icons that Sonic can smash open, and each one has a special power that Sonic can use to his benefit; 10 rings, super speed, temporary invincibility, a shield, and the holy grail of them all: the 1-up. The game also has catchy music. Okay, it's 2004 now, and we can hear actual bands in our games, but back then, we had video game music, and it was good and easy to tune out if need be. Also, in this game, you must collect 7 chaos emeralds in these weird, spinning worlds, and defeat robot enemies by jumping on them.

It's a fun, classic game that brings back lots of memories for me (I remember how great it felt to finally get to the next zone). IT NEEDS TO BE RELEASED ON CD-ROM! Come on Sega, get cracking!

Oh, and don't think I'm insulting New Jersey or anything. I was born there so there you go.

Amazing after all these years

I first played this great game over 10 years ago at a friends house, and fell in love-I actually like this better than the Mario series. I recently found a Genesis system by sheer dumb luck, and along with it Sonic 1 and 2. I popped it in and was re-united with a long, lost friend. And the music! That is one of the reasons I got the game! The graphics are "outdated"-so what? The gameplay on this blows away many of today's games. We are all bombarded with life-like games today, but this classic and others like it are what set the stage for the current wave. Right now, a lot of people are out getting the newest games, I am going against the grain and playing the classics. While I intend to get a "next gen" system soon, I refuse to put these old games out to pasture. Sonic will live forever!

I remember when this game came out I played it at a friends house and loved it,finally a platform game that surpassed Mario. This game is very easy to pick up and play and very enjoyable to say the least. I have beat the game several times and its still a fun game to play. A classic game that combines graphics(especially for its time)and stellar gameplay and fun. If you haven't played this game your missing out on a classic and also check out Sonic CD for Sega CD only and the sequel Sonic The Hedgehog 2 for Sega Genesis.
