I have enjoyed playing Zoo Tycoon. It can be rather involved and sometimes slow when you're creating a zoo with all the requirements. However, the animals and layouts are interesting. I've found that it's easier to please the animals than the humans! This game is good if you have time on your hands.

Best Game Ever

When I first heard of this game, I was excited to have the chance to get a portable version of one of my favorite games on the PC. But the ds version just doesn't cut it.

For one thing, the use of the touch screen is awkward. The stylus is used to navigate through lists. I expected the touch screen to be a great way to interact in new ways, or at least to be used as the computer pointer was. Since the stylus is for lists, that leaves the d-pad for the map. You have to position the pointer precisely to do anything. Placing fences is annoying and very limited. All these problems could have been solved by switching the screens.

For another thing, the animation is very bad for the ds. The zoom is limited and the terrain is choppy and ugly. Objects are badly colored. The appearence is just not as polished as it should be.

Finally, there are some other small things that make this game flawed. Although I haven't had a problem with this (since I haven't played the game much), you can only save one game at a time. There is no music, which is okay on some games but gives only half the experience. There aren't as many animals and objects, and getting awards and ribbons just seems easier, which actually doesn't make getting them any more exciting.

If you can get past these things, Zoo Tycoon DS is a fun game. It's not good enough for the full price, so it's a pretty good deal if you can find it cheap online.

average zoo

In this you have the choice of the setting of your zoo and the money that you start off with up to $500,000 (like the computer version. You sart off with the normal buildings, restrooms, snack machines, and drink machines. You start off with the same scenery, picnic tables, benches, and garbage cans. You daily funding for Reaserch Conservation can go up to $66 ( reaserch and conservation is the best thing in zoo tycoon period). This game doesn't have as many features as the computer version but the missing features are minor and this game is as fun and is good to have because it is more portable than the computer version. My brother would llike to add that in this version you can't put different animals in the same exhibit.(that is all of my brothers input) This game, despite its average qualities is hard to put down once you make a good zoo and once you unlock everything, this game is the best. If you're patient enough to make one exhibit you'll begin to unlock animals and objects and you'll love the game. When you get to the main menu, the most fun thing to do is freeform game, but if you are a begginer you might want to start off with tutorial and scenario game to learn how to do things like please guests. When you start off, don't bother to look into cards because you don't have any. If you're looking for a game to share with someone, you might not want this one because I've played this game for quite a while and as far as I've found out you can only save one zoo. Impotant tip: after making an exhibit and putting the animals in, click on the zoo keeper with the exclamation point and you can see if your animal want things like more decidous floor or more quiver trees. To sum up everything I've said, BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game is fun but...

This game could have had better graphics, animal crossing does, also it can only save up to 1 game which stinks..... its not going to be good for pals if they plan a another for the DS, at least they should have 3 blocks of space on that stupid thing. also I recommend this for ages 10 to 19, the game may be a bit more hard for the younger group, and if you kid is younger than 10, get then the mac/PC ones.

Better then What most Say

You'll see on most of these reveiws that this game is bad. They're wrong. This game has its ups and downs. The ups are that:
1. it doesn't matter how big the exhibit is, no matter how big you make it, your animal will be happy.
2. You need to have a zookeeper for each exhibit. No more having to have staff gates or bad zookeepers not being able to get to the "Big Cat Poop" like the PC game.
3. Unlike the PC game, this game tells you wether you animal is happy with your exhibit. Ex. I had put to much Savannah Grass biome for the exhibit. It tells me that I need less savannah grass and more Fresh Water.
4. Instead of buying food, your zookeeper has that job himself. He'll pick out the right food for that exhibit.
5. This game has a lot of things you need to unlick in it, but I like it. Unlike the PC game you have to work for more animals. Like doing Reasearch Projects.
Now the downs. I think that these downs are just minor problems and they are very easy to get around.
1. No map like the PC game.
2. Bad graphics
3. You can't go down really close in guest mode like the PC game. The closest your are is about really all you need to see.
4. You can only have one game saved at a time.
5. Unlike the PC game, even on the freeform game, you have a limited amount of money. Like on the PC game you have unlimited money.
I hope this reveiw helps you. Most of these reveiws say it's not worth buying the game but really, it is worth buying.

I have the PC version of zoo tycoon and it is ALOT better than Nintendo DS version. The Nintendo DS version of Zoo tycoon has very poor grafics and the small screen is hard to work with because you can only see a small part of your zoo! If you are going to get zoo tycoon get the PC version because the PC version is so much fun! There are many fun games for Nintendo DS, Zoo Tycoon is not one of them!

I have this game and I like it very much. You get to buy animals for your zoo, and best of all you get to make the zoo! It is fun and does not have any levels. This game is very educational because it can teach you more about animals aand what zoo workers do. In this game you are the boss and make cages for the animals. This game does not have that much water animals, only some like seals and crocodiles. It starts to get me a little bored, so if you like big action and explosions do not get this game. The game is okay, but I like other games a LOT MORE!!!!Bye.

Fun for five minutes

This game's fun but you can only make one zoo, there is not
enough space to make a zoo, hard controls, bad graphics, and you can only have fun for a little while!

Niece LOVES it!
