If you've read my review over Marvel vs. Capcom 2 then you know I have given it the title if Possibly The Best, After playing this game I decided I had to review it that way I would have both ends of the fighting games world. Amazon Reviewers love this game so my ranking is going to take a hit but, so be it someone has to state the obvious about this game. As said in the last sentence Amazon reviewers just love this game reason is, they're Inuyasha fans. Don't get me wrong I love Inuyasha and own a collection of the DVD's; I'm just not a blind leader of the hanyou I guess. For some reason the plot gets a lot of praise, I for one have no idea why. Shippou and Kagome fight because... Kagome runs out of snacks, yes folks, the people at Bandai really put their heads together for this plot. Yeah you're collecting shards and yes they have a little explanation before you start fighting, does that really count? That's all from the show, and as soon as the little explanation to you collecting shards is over and you actually start fighting the plot disappears, the story does not unfold at all. This is a fighting game however so bad plot is extremely forgivable. Then there are the controls... which are way too simple. People may list simple controls under the heading of good things about the game but me, not if they're this simple. I've played RPG's with more complex controls. Characters seemed limited with a low number of moves and special moves that are way below spectacular, extremely below. The difficulty of this game is just amazing; buy this game and less than 15 minutes later it's possible to already have beaten the game with at least one character, maybe less than that. Characters look horrible, why wasn't there an Inuyasha game for the PS2 to be brought to our shores? Is this just a game to try and squeeze the PSX for all it's worth? The game does look thrown together. Couldn't they have at least translated? The only good thing I can think of about this game is Dream Fairy Tale and the fact that yes its Inuyasha.

I'm an avid fighting gamer, and I think Inu Yasha is one of the best animes out there. That's why I'm torn on this game. It feels great to be able to use all my favorite Inu Yasha characters in battles. But, the fighting gamer side of me kept on nagging that the game felt cheap and thrown together. Each character has only 3 unique attacks, one super attack, and the usual normal attacks for each one of them. I just couldn't stop thinking about why Bandi left out so many potential attacks for the characters. Even old fighting games from the SNES era has more moves for each of their characters than this game.

Naturally, the game has the usual Bandi inballancing between the characters as well. For example, most of the characters have to kneel down just to hit Shippo, and most of the characters special attacks just go right over his head. Also Sesshomarus special sword attack (if I rememember correctly, his sword doesn't do damage in the anime, hmm) is way overpowered as well, arching everything in front of him making any close up attacks, wheither by air or ground, impossable to hit him. Even performing the attacks are brain dead feats, requiring just the use of the special attack button and pushing just one direction button. Nothing gets more complicated than that, and it feels way to easy to do some of the special attacks. While I'm not saying they should be the thumb numbing deepness of Samurai Shodown 2, I do expect some skill to be required. That, or at least using more than one attack button to do all the specials.

Also, there is no possable way to be able to unlock all of the hidden secrets. After collecting all of the characters, there was still 1 slot left, and I was prompted to go to the backpack to unlock more. When I got there I found out that you have to do every mini game (there's only 3, don't worry) faster than the record in order to unlock the character. Two of them are easy to breeze through, but the last one is impossable. It's a game where you swat poisonous hornets in a given time. It sounds easy, but they all fly at you so fast there's no possable way to hit them all. On top of it, Bandi decided to make it even harder by having shippo being carried away some times. If you don't hit the wasp carrying him before it flies off, you lose 5 seconds, thus making you automatically lose getting the record. It's very frustrating to a gamer that has to have it all, and after 20 tries with various characters I just gave up. You'll get an aneurysm even trying to beat it, and when you see how fast they expect you to do it you'll probably end up throwing your controller like I did.

Much like trying to unlock the other characters, where you have to go through story mode a dozen or so time with it on very easy to unlock them all. Why on very easy? Well, lose 1 round at any time, or not capture almost every crystal shard, and you'll not unlock any characters until the next time you try. It's boring as tar to try to unlock them all in one sitting, and gets on your patience fast.

The graphics are also sub par even for the PS1 standards, and fall back to mediocre SNES standards. The controller changing option strangly refuses to let you use your set up for the story mode for some reason as well, and forces you to use the default controller option. Why, I have no idea, but it's really annoying. I'm not saying that everything with this game is bad. The artwork section is extreamly well done, and the sprites do animate well with what they're given to work with. Also, the dialogue is in japanese, and the translation to English for the subtitles is done very well. That and the music is fairly nice, sounding like it's right out of the Inu Yasha world.

In the end, this game is just a thrown on license to a mediocre fighting game that feels like it fell out of the early 90's. The source material is just pure gold, but somehow Bandi managed to take that gold and forge it into cheap bronze with this game. While it's not entirely broken like Bandis Dragon Ball Z games, it is greatly flawed. With its fairly cheap price it's probably going to be bought by most Inu Yasha fans no matter what I say. But for you fighting game fans out there, stay far away, you'll be gravely dissappointed.

Great show...Unbalanced Game

Being a fan of anime and fighting games, this was a tough call. This game has its pros and cons. Characters include: Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippo, Miroku, Sango, Koga, Kikyo, Sesshomaru, Naraku, Kagura, Totosai, and Demon Inuyasha. Only the first five are available without playing the Feudal Fairytale mode.

The Fairytale mode itself is the game's biggest letdown. It contains almost no story and only a bit of replayabilty. You walk around until you land on a space with a character on it, then you do battle. After you beat five characters or so, you get to go fight Naraku. If you collect enough jewel shards (You collect them during battle by successfully perform a certain attack that is listed before you start) you unlock a new character. This game uses the character's Japanese voices, which is interesting, although I would have preferred the English voice actors.

The fighting is plain and simple. Circle and Triangle are for regular punches, kicks, and slashes. X is used to parry, and Square is used to perform special attacks. All characters have three special attacks and a Super attack.

After beating the game once, you unlock Kagome's Backpack, which contains the voice change mode, where you can change what characters say during battle (which doesn't really matter if you can't understand Japanese), The Picture gallery, where you can look at pictures that are unlocked in the Fairytale mode, Sound test mode, where you can listen to sounds and music from the game, and Minigame mode, where you can play the three minigames.

The graphics and sound are questionable, even for a playstation game. The characters are very animated though and the music is nice.

Overall InuYasha is a so/so game. It has its flaws but it's great for fans of the show.

A game that falls in the middle.

This was a pretty good idea, or would have been if it had been on the snes. A better idea would have beena RPG. But none the less still pretty good. As far as fighters go this was FAR too easy. The game lets you pick from abought 3 game modes and 4 or 5 characters to start with with is a very small starting ammount. Most of the Characters have to be unlocked which is a pain. I mean I'm not aginst unlocking characters but it was a good idea with Gundam Battle assault and its 32 unlockable characters. But with "InuYasha:A Feudal Fairy Tale" and its very limited selection it makes unlocking an royal pain, unrewarding, and a waste of time. Along with characters you can unlock a sound track, photo album, and voice options. This game was probably targeted at girls. I have nothing aginst that but still. Wrong group of gamers, wrong type of game, and too little too late. On the bright side. The controls are pretty smooth and the game flows well. The sound track will make you feel as if you're in Feudal Japan. The story line is rather rich for a fighter. But most of all you'll notice the Japanese Voices and sub titles for a translation, this is a nice enough feature. I think it would have been better if they dubbed it because Richard Ian Cox has a lot less of a whimpy Naisly voice then Kappei Yamaguchi... So for the flaws and over ease of the game I give it. 3 out of 5 stars...

This game was OK, but only because I'm in love with the anime show Inuyasha. The moves were easy, and I beat the game within a couple of days play. I like collecting all the different pictures in the game.

I bought InuYasha because I am a fan of the manga by Rumiko Takahashi. I expected a good fighting game with the same plot as the manga, but it was far from that. In the game InuYasha it takes about four minutes to beat the boss and win the game. It doesnt even mention how Naraku tricked Kikyo and InuYasha. Is it just me, or is Naraku as easy to defeat as the rest of the characters? It doesnt mention how Naraku used to be Onigumo, a human or mention Kaede, Kikyo's sister. Now, since Kikyo is just a human, why does she look the same as she was fifty years ago? Because she died the day InuYasha did and was then raised from the dead by an evil ogress!

They should come out with an American version of InuYasha, because I dont think the first thirteen episodes mention Kagura at all. What is the the thing that InuYasha and her must settle? Who is this Sesho Marro anyway? All these questions can be answered in the manga.

On top of it all, the graphics in this game are terrible! This game is 2D and would be MUCH more interesting if it was 3D. The fighting system would be better, traveling would be better, everything would be better!

The only good thing about this game is the fighting system. Even though it is simple, you must block and perry instead of simply wacking away at your apponent, the way I do with some games.

All in all, a bit more detail about the plot and better graphics would make t5his a much better game.

Great Fun for fans of InuYasha

What this game is not: The next Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat.

What this game is: A fun anime-themed fighting game.

If you are looking for a game that is just plain fun to play, and you are an InuYasha fan, this game is for you. Complete with original Japanese voice work (subtitled of course) it's just a blast to play. It is very much "old school" in style, and if you've ever played anything like Gundam Wing Endless Duel or the *original* Street Fighter II, this is very much along the same idea. Yep, this game is vintage sprite-based action!

You can either play 1 on 1, 2 on 2 (think tag team), against a friend or the computer, and there's even a story mode where you have to gather the jewel shards while fighting battles along the way, playing as either Inu-Yasha or Kagome. In VS mode some of the taglines are priceless... for example when you defeat Shippo, sometimes he'll say something along the lines of "I hope you are proud of yourself for beating a kid!" ^_^;

So if you want a good time without having to spend days memorizing a bunch of new finishing moves, give this game a try.

Suprised the heck out of me

I decided to rent this(Thinking it was just another piece-o-[stuff] game Bandi put out just to sell, like DBZ Ultamate Battle 22), But yet it was suprisingly good. And the game was subtitled, instead of dubbed(The american voices are good, but not as good, and as into it as the Japanese Voices).
Pros:
A suprisingly good Battle system
Has the whole inuyasha cast of main characters
It's pretty fun collecting juel shards
Characters have 3 good moves, then one very strong attack
If you love the stories and stuff, then the replay value may be high
2 player mode is pretty fun at times
Sometimes funny was how Some character ends up fighting each other(Like when Kagome didn't have no treats for Shippo)
Cons:
Can't Bandi for once in their lifetime leave the 2D graphics to Street Fighter
When I put the game on normal, it felt like they were on hard
Characters could at least move their mouths while talking

Well, I love Inuyasha the show, and I love this game. If you love Inuyasha, then don't hesitate to pick up this game

Inuyasha Tons of Fun

I got Inuyasha 4-10-03, the day it came out (well at my mall). And it is pretty much a fun game. My favorite character is Shippo. Right now the only things I've unlocked are Backpack option, Koga, Kikyo, Kagura, and you already have Inuyasha, Kagome, Miroku, Shippou, and Sango when the game starts off. So right now I'm trying to unlock Sesshomaru, Naraku, and those 2 secret characters who I'm not exactly sure of who they are from the shadowed picture in the book. I have 99 shards. I've beat the Feudal Fairy Tale mode about 3 times and they just stopped giving me characters when I beat it. I thought I was supposed to get another character each time I beat the game or something. But do they just give you characters randomly? If not what do you have to do in the Feudal Fairy Tale mode to get more characters? Does ANYONE know?(please email me if you know) But other than unlocking the characters being confusing it is pretty much a fun and easy game. The gameplay is simple. The easiest way to fight is to use the directional buttons along with the triangle button. This game is every bit as good as the show. The game follows the storyline and has 6 modes in all. Feudal Fairy Tale Mode (collect shards), VS Fairy Tale Mode (battle against com or against a friend), Dream Fairy Tale Mode (fight 2 on 2), Myoga's Training Mode(practice), Shippo's Seven Changes Mode (options), and Backpack Mode (listen to music, look at images, and play mini games, this mode has to be unlocked). The game is very familiar to Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Battle 22. All in all this game is great for Inuyasha fans and fighting game fans alike. A must buy for anime lovers.
