Granstream Saga is a good game. It's easy, It allowed me to relax. Yes it has an intresting plot, and nice replay value, its battle format is one of the best, its graphics are up to my standards, and the animated sequenses are cool. However this game is very linear, its two short. The programers used up all the space on vidios and grapics. If you hate spending all your time gaining exp., than this it's worth it. If you like a really long and epic adventure than I can't recommend it.
Stay away from this game!

I have played this game, and I must say it is truly awful. Thank God I didn't buy it, only rented it. Still, it was a waste of five bucks. If you are an RPG fan, then you will probably agree that a lot of the fun in playing them is getting to explore caves, forests, towns, and all that. At least it is for me. I mean, what fun is an RPG if you don't get to go poking around in people's houses, looking for little treasures? This game has none of those fun little elements that are so enjoyable in other games I have known and loved. You are just, for the most part, magically transported to wherever you are supposed to go next, and forget being able to enter any of the buildings and look around! On top of that, the battles are too difficult. I was very disappointed in this game. Don't touch it!
Real time Fighting a plus in the RPG enviroment.

A really good looking game, with an excellent fighting and spell system. an easy learning curve with enough surprises to keep even the die hard RPG fan interested, but simple enough to make an new RPG player an experienced one after completing the game.
I found some aspects of the game confusing, and the lack of any real facial features on the characters made me feel odd, the game looks and plays very well.
be prepaired to save alot. get ready for an interesting story line with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing. the graphics are solid, and easy on the eyes.
the core of the game is saving sinking continents, buy folding space and moving around finding ancient items. very good game play.
down side, you might need a game guide to finish the game. other than that, it's awsome, I recommend it.
A good rpg

I have never played such an Rpg such as this one, no having to buy weapons and armor it's great! Granstream saga is nothing short of remarkable, a boy with a magic artifact that can turn ordinary pieces of metal into armor and weapons, you just can't beat that. If your looking for a good rpg than granstream saga is for you!
It's like parmesean and ice-cream; sounds disgusting but ends up being wonderful!

If you had told me what Granstream Saga was going to be like, I would've bought a different game.
That said, Granstream Saga is probably one of the best games made.
So why do I rate it so?
Granstream Saga has a very mediocre feel to it, it's got horrible textures, clunky character models, and only so-so anime cutscenes.
The story and characters are very cookie-cutter.
The sound is good, but not memorable.
So why do we play it?
The same reason we played those endless mock-offs of Street-Fighter, Ninja Gaiden, and Galaga; pure gameplay and feel.
The game gives off a very interesting experience, one you either love or hate; you crawl from floating, futuristic warships, to ancient caverns full of goons and traps, fighting off hordes of enemies in countless one-on-one battles using your trusted sword and shield. This may sound tedious; may even become so at times, but in reality, combat is quite fun, truly, it cannot be explained, only played. The only way I can begin to describe it is a primitive Kingdom Hearts meets Soul Caliber.
However, despite this, at the end of the day, the game feels like it was nothing more than an engine test; which the developers apparently thought failed. This is a shame, I would've loved to see an improved version of the game, whith polished graphics, and more spells/weapons to choose from.
Regardless of what you may read, Granstream Saga is a fun game, and a definite find for RPG fans everywhere.
Extremely mediocre RPG.

The Granstream Saga has a very Japanese feel to it. The storyline is somewhat interesting and slightly unique. The anime cut scenes are a great addition, and are very well done. The facial close-ups during the dialogs are also quite nice. The game isn't too long, which is a good thing for a mediocre game. No need to draw it out. Graphics-wise, the 3D objects are smooth and well animated, yet...
...the graphics are very clunky and ugly. There is very little in the way of textures, and characters' faces are nonexistent. The camera mostly stays in the sky like most RPGs, making the 3D graphics almost useless.
The music is very plain - nothing stands out. The sound effects are cheap sounding and overused. The voice acting wasn't too impressive, especially Arcia's. I didn't really expect great voice acting though.
Although the story is interesting, it almost seems as if the game designers made it up as they went. Especially towards the end, certain things happen which make little sense with no real explanation given. (Such as your end-of-game "decision".) Because of this, the story weakens towards the end. Also, many of the characters' lines are extremely clichéd, and you get no real sense of emotion from them. Everyone in this game is a cookie-cutter "save-the-world" RPG character. There is very little in the way of personalities or character development.
Game play-wise, the action-oriented battles were a mistake. The control is slow in responding, and you sometimes won't hit an enemy when you think you should. And unless you find the secret "ultimate" sword in the beginning, all battles will be ridiculously difficult. However, the "ultimate" sword will make all battles quite easy. Not really a problem again, since I really didn't want to spend too much time on this game.
There is really nothing great at all about The Granstream Saga, yet I enjoyed it. It was an easy game to finish, and had a somewhat pleasant story. Although the 3D graphics are ugly, the anime cut scenes and close-ups make up for it. If you are looking for a simple RPG to play with little effort, pick this one up.
IT'S AN ALLRIGHT GAME EXCEPT IT LACKS ONE STORY LINE.

IT NEEDED MORE ACTION AND LESS TRAVELING. THE GAME ITSELF HAS EXCEPTIONAL GRAPHICS ,BUT LACKS GAMEPLAY VALUE IN ACTION

I really liked this game, the way it was set up, everything!
I played this game on my brother's Playstation 4 years ago, and
I really like this game! The sound effects and music are pretty good from what I have seen when I played this game 4 years ago. I do not remember much about this game, anyway, do not listen to these complainers who talk bad about this game, they are just a bunch of freaks who do not have appreciation for this PSX classic, and should not play it! Anyway, this forgotten treasure is worth a try, go for it!
