There is no competition in terms of depth, navigation and attention to detail.
The game will seem daunting compared to others on the market, and although that may deter some it is in fact a complement to the tireless detail that has been put into this game.
The navigation quickly becomes second nature and achieving the basics is very straight-forward. The pre-programmed tactics and advice you can glean from your assistant manager make this accessible even to football (soccer) newcomers.
And if there is ever anything that a new manager may need to know the growing online community will have an immediate answer.
WSM's only downfall is how quickly you rack up the hours of playing time as your team makes a title challenge!
Enjoy!
The Best Managing Game Ever!

My brother and myself have been playing the CM series, now WSM series since 1999/2000. We have continued to purchase each new release thereafter because we really enjoyed managing a football (soccer) club. Each new game release has had major upgrades, with more clubs to manage from so many different countries around the world.
If you enjoy playing football (soccer) in real life, you will love this game. My brother and myself have become so addictive to this game that we spend infinitive hours playing this game.
I can write a long review because there are so many aspects of the game that compare to
real life managing, that I just don't have time to go into deeper detail about the game.
So instead, I recommend you to purchase the game and see it for yourselves how much
fun this game really is.
P.S. The only downside that I see with the game is that on a 2-D engine, rather than in a 3-D engine (something that their competitors at EA Sports do offer, but their games are full of bugs, so for that reason I keep on buying the CM/WSM series.)
It's Fun! But it's not too different than 06!

I was actually expecting 07 to include some more changes. While the changes that were made from 06 to 07 are good, it is still dissapointing to see the gameplay is still the same. Also, it's disapointing that some teams have their club shields while a majority of teams have a generic shield. Make it classy! Also, get some pictures generated. Can't be that hard to give a pic of the player to go along with the profile. I was also expecting some better views of the game in in-match mode. When watching it's often unclear what a player is trying to do, and when they mess up how do you know what they messed up on. Also, I think it's crazy that a goalkeeper goes down in game. I grant you it happens... but I can guarantee if I put in my young keeper for some time at 80, invariably, he'll be injured. I don't know how many times my keepers have gone down in game. Sure Cech went down this season, and the English keeper went down in the Friendlies working up to the World Cup, but when else have you seen a keeper break a leg when he's all by himself on the field. Crazy!
I want a better match set-up! I want to be able to see how players are interacting with each other as well as the ball. I want to be able to talk to players without the press. Not just in pre, half, and post game mode. I want to have a better method to communicate with each player. I also want a color coded system that allows me to see if I have scouted a player or not. Maybe their name changes color or there's an icon or such, that lets me know that the player has been scouted and he's not interested in my club or he is, or maybe and so on. That way it's easily read without having to go back and forth and so on.
I also want a way to design my own set plays. If I am the coach I'm the one bringing the ideas in... the way I want them to run each is crucial. I'm not just talking about near, far, header, center and so on. I want to say you run here and you go here and such.
Overall, I love this game and play it about 5-6 hours a week, sometimes more. I am surprised that it really is 06 v3.8... surely with a whole year of design and data collection the game can get even better. I don't want to have to buy a 360 to see a better in game situation...
Utterly addictive

I enjoy a lot sports management games and I have played almost every kind of them. Worldwide Soccer Manager or Football Manager remains the best from any sport. The level of detail is admirable and the realism involves you in a manner that you can not quit playing it. I have spent sleepless nights playing it and whenever you stop playing it, you are thinking about the changes or the strategy you are going to use.
I really recommend it for anyone interested in sports management games, once you try it you will become as addicted as I am.

I have been buying this game every year since the beginning, every year it just gets better. More players, more details, more responsibilities and more enjoyment. Love the game, play it every day. You lose all sense of time while you are playing and hours go by very quickly. Super.

While soccer team managment type of games is more and more popular there is no doubt that there is only one all around good "manager" game on the market: Football Manager series(distributed in US and Canada as World Soccer Manager). Each year people at SIgames do great job to deliver a better and deeper gaming expirience and track all changes in the world of soccer to make playing true to life. And what I love about each game of this series: however good you were at a previous year's game you will struggle to win in a new one :-) AI is better and better each year and really makes you think. In this game it's impossible to create one "killer tactic" as it was three years ago, youl have to adopt your teams style of play depending on who and where you play, which is absolutely true to life. Moreover new teamtalk feature is really fun to use.Enjoy guys! This WSM game is the best ever and I hope even better follow ups are comming
One of the best!!!

This game is the one game if you love playing, watching, evaluating soccer. The game keeps renewing itself. 10 years later from you opened first the game, your star players won't be in the game. That is the most important future for the game. I have been playing this management game since 1998 and there is no competitor against it. Must be bought and played.
