Unreal Engine

I bought the game for a very good reason, because the game has what we as Video Game Developers call the Unreal Engine. This Engine is used to create games such as Splinter Cell, Unreal Tournament, and many more. This game came with a second cd which has a real video tutorial for learning how to use the Unreal Engine.

Overall this game is fun, but I had different uses for it.

Best FPS deathmatch game at the moment!

UT2004 is likely the best deathmatch FPS game out at the moment! I've been playing its deathmatch mode since UT2003. Way more fun than CS or HL2 deathmatch! And if you get really good, you can win an entire match without ever dying! How many games let you do that?? In CS, you can get killed with a lucky shot by a newbie. But UT2004 deathmatch requires real skills. Heck, if you're good enough, not even the redeemer can kill you! Play online...it's a blast!

sweet game

I was in Best Buy and I saw this only lacking the bogus "Collector's Tin" and the head set for 30$.

Choice! FPS

Unreal Tournament is my choice deathmatch/arena based game. UT2004 is more like it's own platform than just a game. These are the best graphics I've seen to date (as of April 2004) detailed, smooth, realistic and so much more. The graphics are a fine complement to the intense nature of the actual blood-sport and insane battle sequences which leave you howling for more. A tool to blow your steam and RAGE!

The hours and hours of video tutorials for building your own arenas make this special edition really worth the extra $. I've been into designing unreal levels for a long time, and watching these tutorials has taught me many things I've either overlooked or been doing inefficiently. Awsome features!

Ha Ha, suckers.

this game rocks. definitely back into UT because of it. and for those who paid more than $50 CAN for the special edition, i feel sorry for you.

i managed to pick up the game in the special edition for $49.99 + tax at futureshop the day it hit the shelves.

well worth the videos, headphones let alone the game itself!

get the dvd edition folks, nice not to have to put in multiple CDs and the tutes are sweet.

Best Buy was selling both editions of the game for 30$ when it was released. They sold out at stores all over. What people fail to realize is that these Video Tutorials are free downloads at the people who make them. You are getting a free head-set though, which is a plus. Giveing out the Tutorials was a way to get them to people who did not have a fast internet connection to download them. This is in NO WAY worth 90$. It is the same game except with a free headset. Tell you what, buy the game from Best Buy (or anywhere else for 30$) and spend an extra 10 for the Headset. This was a good deal when it came out, which is why it gets the high rating. You save about 10$ and a whole lot of time that would have been spent sitting on your butt downloading them. Good game is another plus. To get my full review of the game check the normal PC review. 4 Stars for the original low price and extras anyways though. Good move by Atari and their marketing strategy.

Confusing name/price explained

There is the original CD version for $40
There was a "Special Edition DVD" in tin box with Logitech headset, and editor tutorials for around $100
On april 13th, a "special" DVD Edition (not to be confused with "Special Edition") was released with the tutorials for $39. No tin box. No headset

Atari marketing may have dropped the ball on that one - but it is still an awesome 5 Star game.(...)

March 8th placed an order with Mwave - cat:item 2170046 - UT2004 DVD Special Edition for $33.99. Several weeks past as well as two back order notices. In the meantime I noticed Mwave's catalogue no longer listed my item 2170046. Now they listed 2170082 which of course is the CD-ROM version for the same $33.99. Can everyone see where I'm going with this? Just received an email from Roger Lai at Mwave. Clever guy - Due to a shortfall from Manufacturer, UT2004 DVD special edition is no longer available, but if you'd like the CD-ROM version it's ready to ship - for the same price. Oh and there will soon be a 2 DVD set without headphones available but we don't know when to expect it...no mention of price. You can check Ebay but expect to pay 3 to 5 times the MSRP. The guy that bought 10 copies for 29.99 at Fry's should be ashamed of himself, depriving the rest of us. Ashamed all the way to the bank that is!!! My game name whether it's UT2004, BF1942, Halo, etc is PhreaKing, and I'm preaking mad, dissappointed, unfullfilled, yeah! You get the picture.

I bought a lot of them

Special Edition is definiately worth the cash. I bought 10 copies a Fry's Electronics for 29.99 each. Now you know why you have to big money on ebay for them.
