Fantastic Bore

Awful!! Those people that gave this game good reviews are making money in some way from the sale of this game. I heard it was similar to the X-Men Legends game (which was great) so I didn't think twice about picking it up. I could not have been more disappointed. Graphics stink, gameplay is awful...I can't think of anything nice to say about it.

I should have seen it coming...the commercials for the game have no actual footage or screenshots from the game. The animation on the commercial looks nothing like the game. Multi player mode is even worse that single which stinks.

If you just feel the need to get rid of 50 bucks....flush it down the toilet and cut your losses. You'll feel better about yourself than if you actually spend money on this crap and then feel obligated to play it.

This is an OK game. Some of the levels are a little challenging because if you die you have to start over in that level. Kids will have a hard time with the game and even some adults. However, if you like the Fantastic Four you can get it, but might as well get Number 2 instead.

This game sucks, there is nothing great about it, this is the worst x-box game ever. If it's not the worst it must be in the top 3, and I'm saying 3 to be nice. I would have given it a zero but one is the lowest you can give. [...]

I loved this game the 3D graphics were incredible the cut scenes looked just like the movie. I liked X-Men legends more though, But this game has good replay and better graphics they also added more story on to it like with old enemy's like moleman, and Diablo, and a few others. I loved the puzzles they added into the game to keep you into the game. I Mean me and my friend had an awesome time playing this on coop like combining super powers. Also you have three super powers which as you upgrade look different, and also are more powerful. Then you have a comic attack which you can use by getting a super coin, and doing combos. Altogether the animations cool throw in huge cool bosses coop I just don't know why it's not 4-players and it's called fantastic 4 I say get this while your waiting for X-Men legends 2 so if you love to fight big bosses and cool animations like Ben grabbing guys and slamming them on the ground get this just make sure you read the instructions you don't know how many people got mad, because they didn't know how to play it right.

Alright, its fun every once in awhile but it gets old fast...

If you like mindless button pushing and fighting mole-men, stone aztec things, and now mummies then you should still find a different game then this one. I know it's hard to make a video game that doesn't envolve mindless button pushing but this one doesn't even make an effort to differ from that.

What they should do is put games like this out on PSP where you wouldn't mind pushing buttons because you'd be traveling or trying to pass the time. I actually think it would be more fun on PSP because with large systems you expect a lot which, this game didn't bring.

Doom's Day Indeed!

This game was a very brutal and very terrible experience. The cut scenes are rendered terribley, the voice acting is horrid, and most of the action is repetitive and uninteresting. The novely of playing as the Fantastic Four wears off pretty quickly, and then you're stuck with stupid mini-games, mediocre graphics, and pounding the B and X buttongs for the next five hours. The game is really short but the last level and some of the buggy jumping puzzles will have you playing it for a while.

The game reeks of low-budget. Some of the little cutscenes before bosses, that tell you what to do, are actually not even accurate as they changed the level design and didn't bother to look back. You'll see what I mean; the battle with Horus and the final confrontation with Doom are pretty good examples.

The camera is its very own world of pain. Imagine two states; in one you are zoomed back, staring past the edge of all the walls and seeing objects clipping about. In the other enemies are shooting at your from off screen and you're zoomed straight into your character. Either way the camera is your enemy and you'll learn to fear it.

The multiplayer was fun at first, but that was short-lived. The camera managed to constantly lock one player into an invisible zone of numbness where they were unable to move. The frame rate consistantly dropped and at least once both players managed to create an eternal loop of falling off a ledge. Did I mention that enemies are also invincible if they are half of the screen.

There was some fun; the bonus level is based on the comic book and plays much smoother and has no ties to the movie. It gave me the impression that, once upon a time, Activision actually had a Fantastic Four action game going, put it on the back burner, and then had it rushed out at Fox's bequest.

Overall there's a tiny bit of fun in some of the terrible acting and ridiculous levels (Egyptian Gods at an Aztec temple?) but really this is a game to be avoided.

U call this fun????

This is a game that kids would probably enjoy. For adults, it's about as sad as the film.

Pros:
- Game is actually more interesting than the film.
- Game is best when you have to cooperate to solve a problem- unfortunately there isn't enough of this kind of puzzle solving. E.g. Reed can't walk thru an energy barrier unless Sue creates a force field around him. The interface controls for lending powers to one another is there, but is never used to their greatest potential.
- Discovering new capabilities as you level up, especially when you combine them with other team mates.
- Different character's have different strengths that work best in different environments. E.g. when you are in a laser fight Sue is great to use because her infinite shield can deflect lasers back at opponents. When you are Johnny, you can wildly throw fireballs with low cost to your cosmic powers.

Cons:
- Extremely repetitive.
- Audio is very poorly done- in some cases there is no audio at all.
- Graphics are pretty hideous by today's standards.
- Buggy. Game crashes sometimes.
- The combination lock puzzles are an extreme waste of time.
- Very aggrevating at the end: In the final boss fight you must successfully complete an ultimate (timed combo) to win. I gave up after too many tries.
- When your AI comrad's are fighting they do not impart as much damage as when you take over the character. This is done no doubt so that you don't get out done by your AI partners- but it really makes them useless as partners.

I saw the movie and bought the game, wanting more action than I got in the movie. I got that in spades in the game. It was a blast to control the characters and use them together - the game was a good mix of new things and cool things from the movie. I loved coop play too - definitely worth a look!
