This game is really good, from touch screen usage to capture pokemon to each pokemons special abilities. Personally, my favorite part is that you can get a Manaphy and send it to your Pokemon Diamond or Pearl.
The storyline is good, and you still have things to do after the game is over. After you do that, then there is nothing to do.
For 35 bucks, it isn't worth it...

...but for 15, it is. And yeah, Amazon has cut the price, so you can get it for that much!
Pokemon Ranger is a bit different from the other Pokemon games in the series (to be expected). The DS-style gameplay is a refreshing change from the capture-style used in other games (such as Pokemon R,B,Y,G,S,Ru,Sa,Em,FR,LG,D,P,(!!!)), although it can get old. Rather than throwing Pokeballs from a menu command, you "draw" them with your stylus (which generally means circling Pokemon).
I enjoyed the game for numerous reasons (not the least of which is the ability to get a top-notch Pokemon for Diamond), but I wouldn't have if the game was full price. The graphics are not at all special, and the gameplay does get a bit old, but it's entertaining for what it is. Happy hunting!
My 9 year old's opinion...

A lot of fun. Worth buying. Alittle confusing but that is the point of the game. I would recommend it. I have had it for awhile and I still enjoy it.
And they just keep coming

As a hardcore Pokemon fan, I found Pokemon Ranger to be a fun game. Although it can get repatitive at times, I'm really enjoying it so far. It makes good use of the stylus, which is nice to see the DS's potential on occassion. If you like pokemon then pick this one up, its a good one for the collection.
happy pokémon :)

I've been told that the game is a bit too short, but I have not beat it yet, so I'm still enjoying it. It's a very interesting concept that you have to draw circles around the Pokémon until it's successfully befriended. In the other games I always thought "Isn't it kind of mean taking a Pokémon away from its wild home and making it listen to you?" I always put it off. But in this game, they get to go back to where they came from, so that there are no hard feelings. ;)
Not what I expected

This isn't as good as the other Pokemon games on the market. Gameplay is a bit boring at times. Nice collection of Pokemon, but ultimately the only reason I spent so much time on the game is to get a Manaphy for my Pearl and Diamond games.
Disappointing

I thought drawing pokeballs would be fun, and it is.. for the first 5 seconds.
Addictive, but could be better

As a long-time Pokémon fan, I figured I had to give this game a chance. That, and I wanted Manaphy in Diamond. But anyway, I got addicted pretty quick. Unfortunately the plot line was over pretty quick too. After clocking in less than 10 hours of saved game time (add in about 1 more hour for when I died after a save point), I had beaten the game. Due to my short attention span and loss of patience when I got stuck, it took me 2 days to beat.
I do like that once you beat the plot line there are additional tasks, which I am still in the process of doing... But I have a feeling those will run out soon, and I'll be done.
Good game, but far too short!
