Go Medieval!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 4
Date: March 06, 2006

In Knights of the Temple you are Sir Paul de Raque, as you set out on a holy crusade across a forbidding, medieval Europe to join your order in the Holy Land. Armed with your sword, axe, bow and shield, you must fight with all your strength to complete your journey, for saving the future of the world is your ultimate goal. The core of the game is medieval style fighting with the classical weapons of European knights, coupled with stunning graphics of the historical milieus of the 12th century crusades.

Best Dungeon Hack-N-Slash, Ever. Get Midieval On Evil.

This is a "melee" game. You control whether you hit the target. Its also a midieval/fantasy game. They don't make enough games like this. This is not a frilly RPG.

You develop increasingly complicated sword moves, until its eventually like "Street Fighter" with so many options of attacks.

In the tradition of "Die By the Sword", "Rune", and "Enclave", this game is the best hack-n-slash that technology has to offer.

Read the Editorials and features written by the publisher. Starbreeze makes straight forward masterpieces of midieval fun.

It gets a bit redundant at times. There are only about 6 levels, but they are very long and gory. When you finally enter Hell, its a huge shock. The naturalized movements of all the enemies in the game is just fantastic. Great graphics.

My favorite part of the game is when you single-handedly retake Jerusalem. The enemy shout things like, "Kill the Infidel!", and you respond with both edges of your broadsword.

Besides the Sword, Mace, and Axe, you can shoot a bow, too, But, not while you're moving, which is realistic.

You must defeat dozens of different types of enemies, all of whom fight and attack slightly differently.

Thoroughly engrossing. Who needs a plot? In summary: As a Crusader Knight of the Templar, you face the Jihad and the fires of Hell with a Sword and Divine Justification.

The AI is very decent. Beyond the pre-programmed reactions to your offense and defense, the enemy is difficult to engage, and group en masse to defeat you. Sometimes, the enemy attack themselves, too.

Would have been better as a straight out "RPG"...but still LOADS of fun.

This game would have been "PRIMO" as a straight out RPG in the tradition of games such as -Icewind Dale/Baldur's Gate 2 or NeverWinter Night's(the original-not 'NWN2')-w/ some D&D rules and some NPC's to join you on your quest..but as it stands, it's still a decent HACK-N-SLASH and in my opinion alot more fun than 'Dungeon Siege'which I've never finished all the way through due to the extreme BOREDOM and repetiveness. So what seperates this one from the already over-saturated market of this genre?..Well in a word..Variety. Although it follows the same formula of trotting from (point A to point B) and meet an end BOSS every other level or so, the monotiny is broken up with the addition of a variety of STREET FIGHTER like move-sets that you can earn during the course of gameplay and trust me,you'll need to memorize these because the AI in this game is not stupid. Your enemies can block your attacks very well and it seems the better or (Advanced) versions of your foes can block just about 98% or your attacks if you try to play this game blindly mashing buttons, which if you do,you'll be sliced to ribbons faster than you fumble around to find the block button. Yes, the AI is relentless. But this is a good thing because it keeps you on your toes and when you do learn a few moves correctly..the KILL animations are SWEET.. which in turn will give you the feeling of 'Hey...did i just do that? COOOOL. Just don't get too comfortable with just a few memorized moves because the more you progress in the game, the harder the AI is to hit and the more they block and return deadly combo's that will wipe you out, this is made true when you reach the ( Acre:The Ancient City Level) and you face the middle-eastern 2-Handed swordsmen-These guys can be BRUTAL if your attacked by a group of them. The fun factor gets a definite (5STARS). Graphics are well done, not the best..but well done. Voice acting is TOP-NOTCH and the story (what little there is of it..but like another reviewer said, who needs a deep story in a hack-n-slash anyways) flows pretty well from level to level with a mix of short 3D and still painted artwork. It's a fun game, which in these days of HIGH END GRAPHICS FIRST and FUN being just an after-thought in most modern games," Knight's" is a well and LONG awaited breath of fresh air. Just imagine the OLD (Sega:'Golden Axe'games)done right in (3-D). For those of you who are considering a purchase of "Dungeon Siege"(nothing personal against the series..i own both 1&2) don't bother, buy (knight's) if you want a truly *FUN* Hack-n-Slash...because in the end, isn't that what these types of games supposed to be about..FUN. 4-stars overall because this game is more suitable for (Console Gaming)i.e The XBOX or PS2(or NEXT-GEN) because of the control scheme which on a keyboard is not really difficult, but with console controller in hand(my opinion only) it would feel more at home with the combat scheme.-Darvius9

Ultra medieval sword fighting. Its fairly homogonous until the last quarter, then suddenly you find your character trapped in a pit of hell fighting off horrifying demons. This game is a work of art!
