great inexpensive game

I'm afraid I must disagree with a previous review concerning this being an expensive, hard to find game. I found a copy of this game in the thrift store and it was marked "not for individual sale" and it worked perfectly. And at an under $20 price tag on amazon, this doesn't seem to be too expensive. It runs awesome on my windows 98 PC (although I have not tried it on my XP). Don't let anybody scare you out of buying this title. It's good fun!

A Must-Have for Tim Schafer Fans

A prelude to the greatest PC game ever released, Grim Fandango.

Full Throttle is a piece of the Tim Schafer puzzle. He creates a world that commands our attention, and delights us with humor that allows us to escape our ordinary lives.

While the game is dated, it is also next to impossible to find. This is a game for Tim Schafer fans and collectors.

Therefore, this my review of a recently purchased "new" copy from Amazon. The Amazon seller broke up a Lucas Arts collection set, and sold me one of the discs from the 3rd volume. The "Full Throttle" game was paired with "Dark Forces" from Star Wars, while the installation for both games was on another disc (unsent) from the set.

The disc was clearly marked, in large type "Not For Individual Sale". I notified Lucas, and they identified the disc and confirmed that the disc sold to me was from their 3rd classic collection and that the game installation was on another disc from that particular set. The seller described the disc as a jewel case cardboard sleeve sealed by the manufacturer.

I notified Amazon, they refunded my money. Amazon is wonderful.

But the 96% approval rated seller is selling the same individual disks from the same sets, without the installation disk...still here at Amazon, two months later.

Full Throttle is a collector's item and very hard to find in new condition. There was an updated version released in Europe/England in 2002, and it is now considered next to impossible to find, especially for us here in the USA.

Be very careful about a "reasonable purchase" or even an unreasonable purchase of this game. The Vultures are circling around it. Be careful.

The game is a Windows 95', XP players can limp along with XP's "Compatibility Mode" for Windows 95', or follow one of the many work arounds offered by fans at various websites.

I don't know what happened between Lucas Arts and Tim Schafer, but it appears even though there is a market for the Lucas games by Schafer, Lucas is not going to update the games' platform, nor produce any more to sell.

At this point in time, January 03, 2006, this is not a casual game to buy. It is rare and expensive. If you are a purchasing a copy for a reasonable amount, more than likely you are not purchasing a valid playable copy.

I would hate to unfairly target other sellers at Amazon for this game, but unless you can verify the game's authenticity, don't buy it.

Only buy this game if you are a fan and want the evolutionary works of the wildest and smartest game developer in history.

Full throattle is one of the BEST games i ever played the only problem with it is that is ends very fast 5 hours more or less but if you like adventures THIS is the game for you.

The characters are great , the dialog either , the chat's between maurie and the protagonist are simply hilarious ^^

5 star to this product and 10 stars to LUCASARTS ^^

A Classic...With a Few Wrinkles!

I remember playing this game so long ago when it first came out 10 years ago. I loved the story, the hard-rock music, the sarcastic LucasArts humor, and the interactivity of the puzzles. Yes, this is a simple point-and-click adventure, but while the process is simple...the way the game unfolds and presents the resulting cutscenes is very impressive. "Full Throttle" is more of an interactive movie than an actual game, but that's actually a compliment, because "interactive movies" don't get much better.

So why not a 5-Star rating? Well, this game is simply too short, and over before WAY before you might want. Games didn't have the 10-hour length of today's titles back then, but there were ones longer than this 5-hour adventure back in the day, too...including LucasArts' own "Star Wars" games! If you don't use a guide, the puzzles can be pretty head-scratching. But like all puzzle games, the second time around just isn't the same, because the solutions don't change. For a low price of 10 bucks or lower, you will have a blast the first time through. The second time around, you'll enjoy the story...but when you can finish it in 3 hours instead of 5, the suspense feels rushed...all because you've passed the test once.

My love for "Full Throttle" isn't only nostalgic --- I had the same criticisms 10 years ago. However, I still have the same praise I had in 1995, too. I highly recommend "Full Throttle" to any gamer, but just be aware of its short length before you buy it.

ROCK ON! GAME ON!

Lucasarts definitely thought straight when making this game. You play a bike gang leader who has to prevent the rest of his gang from being victims of an ambush. It is definitely one good game. The graphics are pretty unique, because the make the game look very cartoony, but I'm not complaining. The objects in the background are very interactive, meaning you can use several objects you see to your advantage to proceed throughout the game. Many obstacles you see are challenging, and might take a while for you to figure out what to do. This game is definitely worth every penny.

Oh and he has a sweet bike!

I LOVE this game, and I (personally) think it's the best game EVER! I was very disappointed when I heard that Full Throttle 2: Hell on Wheels was cancelled :( and so, we'll probably never get to play a sequel of Full Throttle :(.

FULL THROTTLE ROCKS!

I plsyed this about six years ago and I still enjoy dusting it off every now and then for replay. The graphics are dated and you may have trouble running it on newer machines (eg Win XP), but it's a well-written, funny game with some very clever puzzles. Heck, after playing this game _I_ wanted a Corley-Motors bike!

Looking forward to full throttle 2

Old game, outdated graphics... But so much FUN!

This game is another proof that you don't need the latest, best graphics to make a game enjoyable. All you need is a good story, interesting characters, and challenging - yet fun - puzzles.

The story is worthy of a movie (as it is now expected from LucasArts), the characters are likable (for the good guys), and despicable (for the bad guys). The voices and dialogs are still some of the best I've heard in an adventure game. The voice actors are all extremely experienced and skilled (go and check out their credentials on the Internet Movie DataBase).

That game was more than worth it when it was sold at full price, but not buying it now that it is part of the wonderful Jewel Case Classics would be criminal.

Short, but exhilarating

The funny quips, the no-nonsense attitude...if this game were longer, I'd say this was one of the best LucasArts put out there. Unfortunately, it's a quick run-through, and only offers enough to want seconds. The music fits the mood perfectly, and the controls are obvious and intuitive. The puzzles aren't that hard, but it's a great game for young adolescent males. Hopefully none of the humor is lost on 'em, 'cause it's one of the better, more mature Lucas titles.
