Tough puzzles, creepy atmosphere--great game!

This is the sequel to the blockbuster adventure-puzzle game, 7th Guest. You're back in the mansion, trying to find your friend. Not only are there more fiendish puzzles to solve, but there are also riddles to unravel as well. Both will either open up more of the house, or provide further video clips, pushing the story forward. I loved the fact that I could take a break from the (sometimes insanely hard) puzzles and work on the riddles, and still progress in the game.

This is a mature game--no swearing, but lots of disturbing imagery and some risque moments--nothing beyond PG-13 though. It's very similar in style to the first game, with some improvements (the sound isn't so faint, for starters), and the story is fantastic. And Stauf is as evil--and sly--as ever.

Pass it by - even at this price

I liked the first game (7th Guest) a bit, mainly because the puzzles were so strong that it was fun. The acting was atrocious. The sequel is a bit like most movie sequels...not quite as interesting as the previous. The acting is still bad, the puzzles to some degree are almost identical in nature, and the storyline goes exactly nowhere. If you haven't played the 7th Guest, then maybe you'll like it, but I think I liked the music more on 7th Guest, so get that if you can.

Agree with pass it by review from other buyer.

While the story is interesting, especially if you have played the 7th guest previously, there are problems. About mid-way through the game I was interupted during a key video scene and my computer hung up. The company is no help in trying to find the problem and so I have never quite finished the game. So like other reviewers have indicated: stick to the 7th Guest if it's horror and scares your after. This one gives horrors of a diffrent kind. :)

Not as good as the first

The sequel to 7th Guest, 11th hour turns what was sort of a fairy tale horror story (like Frankenstein) into something much more 'gritty' and adult. I was very dissapointed. Issues such as rape, mutilation, and lots of gore are brought up in this game and all of the psychological horror of the previous game (which is what made it such a ball for me to play) has been forgotten.

The plot goes along and you're a reporter seeking his friend who is trapped in the mansion of Stauf. A lot of things from the previous game were ignored... in 7th guest the mansion ws up on a high rocky hill and in 11th hour its now in a grassy lot with an iron fence around it.

I didn't like the fact that they decided to make such a unique concept into something more 'adult and gritty', and as I progressed through the storyline I began to pretty much hate everyone in the game character wise. Aren't you supposed to want to save people?

On a technical aspect, the folks that have re-released this game have done nothing to update the software at all and there is a very high likleyhood that this won't run on your machine. My copy decided to install a little shareware VGA driver on my computer without my permission and it was an annoyance to get rid of.

Overall, the dissapointing story and software problems made this game not worth the money, even at the reasonable price being offered for it.

Oh Please

Definitely this game had possibilities: decent story line, fair acting, but I was totally frustrated with the puzzles. Get on with the story already. If you're a Mensa genius buy it.

Nothing but problems!

I was very disappointed in the technical aspects of this game. I really enjoyed "The 7th Guest", and I thought that I would enjoy this one as well. Unfortunately, getting the disk to run was a MAJOR nightmare! After spending an hour and a half trying to get the game to start (the game required me to change and configure audio drivers, without giving any help doing it!), I was finally able to get it to go, but even then the sound was pretty much shot. Other problems I had with it: 1) it wouldn't remember the sound settings that took forever to change. When I would try to play the next time, I would have to "uninstall" the game and reinstall - losing any saved games! 2) The puzzles, when I could access them, were INSANELY hard! Without the help of a good cheat guide, forget it!

All in all, it looked like it had potential but I would NOT recommend this to ANYONE! What were the designers thinking? Give me a game that I can just stick in and play!

Very Scary, Fun, And Great Game

This game is the sequal to the very popular game THE 7TH GUEST. This game contained decent graphics and much fun play. But the 2nd game is very very good....It has great graphics, amazing story line, and is very unique as the first one. I would suggets this game to players of the age 15 and up. This story is about your friend was kidnaped by the evil spirt known and Stauf. You must go back into the haunted house and save her and finally defeat Stauf...it has wonderful puzzles and is very realistic...I loved this game...and for the price it is now its certainly and a must have...

I agree with nothing but problems

I played 7th Guest and thought that 11th Hour would be a good sequel but I could never get it to run. I could not get ANY help from the makers after several phone calls and e-mails and downloading help files from the internet. I even bought two games because I was told my first was probably had damaged installing files. So unless you are a computer genious on rearranging your whole system to fit this game I WOULD NOT recommend it to anyone. And I only gave it 1 star because I wanted to put 0 but I had to enter at least 1 in order to post this.

FANTASTIC GAME--waiting for others to catch up.

7th Guest confused me a little. 11-Hour offers hints or even solves if you get stuck on a puzzle along the way. Why some folks are having trouble with configurations, I don't know. Perhaps after you have played a few Sierra games, I should considered myself an advanced programmer? *L*

THE GAME: You are a celibrity pit against a demonic toymaker named Stauf to save your producer-boss. When you enter his realm, the house, Stauf starts feeding you clues. But clues never come free. You have to earn them. In most cases, Stauf will be laughing at you--even stabbing with cute sarcastic statements.

If you are looking for a puzzle game, this one's for you. 11hour is filled with puzzles. In fact, when you eventually finish the Strategy game, you can go back and play the other puzzles that you enjoyed. Finishing 11-Hour will take some time. There are three endings to this game. Be sure to save under multiple names along the way.

If you are looking for 3-D shoot em up, this is not for you.

I hope they create a sequel or at least a similar quality product. So many out there are high-tech but no dazzle.
