This game sucks ass. period. The new vehicles are ok sometimes, but all are slow and horrible to control. The new powerups are retarded , such as skis to go over water but at an even slower pace by 5 times. The old vehicles, and kooky characters are all gone, as is the storyline and anything else fun from the original. Oh, by the way, this was also made by a different company, which is the reason for all this horribleness. So , in summation, stick to the first on e til they come out with a 3rd one on a new system.
The First One Is Better.

This sequel to Vigilante 8 has taken a backseat to the first and gone way downhill. And instead of rating it high and then commenting on how much I want to play it or complain about it not being delivered, i'm actualy reveiwing the game!!!
The graphics may be slightly better then the 1st version, but the gameplay has come down badly. Tho it is fun for a few seconds to have your vehicle slide down ski sloaps, or get picked up by craine magnots and ski lifts, or have your car blown off the road by jet engines, the vehicles response is horrible compared to the first. You have less control this time, the car wont do the 360 propperly, and in light cars, you spend more time upside down trying to flip back over 'cause of oponents rockets then anything else.
The levels seem much smaller, too. Someone said there is 50 levels, what are you on about? There is not 50 levels.... it would have been nice to be able to unlock some of the levels of the last one, but instead you have to play the new ones, which have more potholes, things to crash into and things to fall into then anything fun to do.
Even if noone wanted to add some of the original stages, they should have at least added some of the original vehicles. Nothing has come back, every car is new. Some are interesting, like the moon buggys, motortbikes, bug-bug, and a range of other vehicles, but theres no way to enjoy testing them because you cant control any of them. The speed of the cars is boringly slow, too! There is a code to make them faster, but that only results in worse control of the vehicles. The worst control is when trying to control your vehicles upgrade. You find things on the track that tranform your vehicle into some other modified craft. Most of them change into a Back To The Future II style Skyway-Flyer. It looks cool at first, but you have no control over it. Also the spaceship from the original is no where to be seen.
There is some new weapenry, like a flame thrower, but oponents seem to now drive sheilded vehicles because it takes 100 times longer to destroy someone. Also, the rockets and pink projectile things are about all thats found in most levels, there is a few new things like speciels being easy to find but what happend to the mini-gun? It seems to have almost completly disapeared and it's annoying looking for weaopens inside buildings when you cant control a vehicle to get in therequick enough.
Even with codes this game was still no fun. You need the invincibilty code, but some of the codes like Monster Truck Wheels sounds like fun, but it's nothing to brag about, you just keep slipping around with no control as usual.
Overall, stick with Vigilante 8. Dont bother with this sequel IMO. It's a downgrade from the 1st. On one player anyway, I havent tried to the multiplayer, but take my advice if you intend to play one player. It's not worth it. It's all graphics and no fun.
The first one was better..

I own both Vigilante 8 and its sequel, Vigilante 8: Second Offense. I like them both. They're my favorites out of all my N64 games. But there were annoying faults in the second game.
Namely the excessive amounts of water. Constantly one finds themselves sinking under and being transported to inconvienent areas of the level.
But the most aggravting thing by far was the fact that one had to pick up objects during the missions. Which wouldn't be bad at all if they didn't take up one of your only three weapon slots. For those of you who have never played the game, you can only carry three weapons at a time. But during every mission, one has to pick up briefcases, toolboxes, bombs, or gas tanks that take one of your weapon slots. Meaning you only get to attack with an aresenal of two weapons. This is very inadvantageous if you happen to have nothing but a miner layer and a flamethrower, easily the crappiest weapons in the game. It also makes it more difficult to guard your special weapon from being thrown off when you accidently run into another weapon. Which is even more infuriating if you happen to accidently run into the priorly mentioned weapons.
Yet, despite it's faults, Vigilante 8: Second Offense did have some improvements over its predecessor.
In this new version, you can pick up Salvage points which will add new accesories to the cars such as antennaes and spoilers and the like. And if you get 100 of each of the four types of salvage you get a completely new chassis. The game also features 18 vehicles, five more than the prior.
So, if they had left out all the water and given you an extra weapon slot, the game would've been a respectful sequel indeed.

This seller may be good, if they have what you order. If, however, they happen to be out of stock after you place your order, you will encounter massive difficulties in determining your order status. Not only are they extremely diffcult to contact, they do not respond to email. I wouldn't recommend this seller for items that are hard to find.

A friend and I rented this game for a week, after which I decided that I had to buy it. It's a hard game to find but well worth it and even better than the first vigilante game. The levels are better and more detailed, there are a lot more cars, and secret moves. You can also boost a cars stats by defeating your opponents. This is the best car/fighting game I have come across, even better than extreme G. Get this game, sit down with some friends, and start blowin' stuff up!
One of the coolest games!!

This game is awsome! How else can I explain the metal mashing tire chewing action that is packed into this cartridge. There are so many vehicles to choose from and they all have there own unique special weapon. The levels are very fun and large. Pick-up weapons and power-ups are found throughout the levels. The graphics are also very good. This game is a must buy for owners of the N64.
If it drives by, shoot it!

This game is so phat, that I would play for hours.Only I can't, becuase it would freeze after around half an hour. But that didn't stop me from having much fun. I suggest that you buy it if love blowing things up in a garbage truck or a volkswagon (your choise). Once you get used to the control you will have a lot of fun. And if you were wondering, theres no peds to run over. :)
AWESOME!!!
