I immediatly was hooked from the first time I played it. The N64 version of "ROAD RASH" is simply extreme compared to other versions I have played in the past. It incorporates new weapons and attacks with varying effects. Motorcycle "gangs" are now more of an issue, you can join them depending on the bike you buy. Difficulty ranges from very easy to impossbile. The cheat codes are interesting too. Using codes you can play as a cop busting rashers or the other extreme, racing cheesy (and very slow) motorscooters. The controls are very responsive, the music is excellent and the sound effects are great. There are flaws though. The graphics have the 3-D look but with little detail in textures, this could have been much better done in my opinion. It is really dissapointing when you think how much better it could be with the expansion pack and realize there is little to no noticable difference. Another thing that may bother some gamers is the slim pickings of bikes, only four per level to choose from. The frustration factor can set in near the last couple levels, but it isn't nearly as bad as some games. Other than the graphics I would highly recommend this game to Road Rash fans as well as racing fans in general.

I played this game at a freinds house. At first it was a bit frustrating because I didnt know the controlls. Later on learning them, it didnt get better. The collision detection on the attacks (one of the main parts of the idea of road rash) was horrible, i'd swing the weapon right through people at times. Then the mercy rule was way to strong. I'd purposely sit there not driving for almost 20 seconds and then within 10 seconds I'd be caught up and in first place usually. The races are completly random, usually the person in last place with 10 seconds left wins. I usually like to play bad racing games forever but this game held my interest for 10 min tops. Buy Mario Kart or Diddy Kong Racing.

The game is just average, It is hard to get in a fight with one racer, the mercy rule made it to easy to win races at the last second, and the bike selection was poor. This is better left to be a rental.

if you like either racing or fighting games Road Rash 64 brings out the best in both. I give it 5 stars on one player mode and 4 for multiplayer so the bottom line is 4 and a half

Road Rash 64 is a good game. The gameplay is easy, the bikes are cool, and the music is great. The graphic could have been a little better and I definitely recommend having an expansion pak for this game. Overall, though THQ has produced another winner that is worthy of your fifty bucks.

WHO CARES ABOUT THE TEXTURES OF THE BUILDINGS?i mean here is a serious racing game that finally lets you beat the other racers senseless and the music rocks it is cool to play through a career with a budget(i.e you crash you gotta pay repair bills)... mario kart and diddy kong racing were just too childish but had the necessary weapons and pranks to play... i guess this is as close as we gamers are going to get to a cruisn/vigilante 8 type game so grab this one quick

I bought this game for my brother for Christmas, and both of us love it! (In fact, I made him leave his N64 at my place for a week :) The graphics are good, the sound is great (both the effects and the soundtrack), and the gameplay is outstanding. Both single-player and multiplayer are lots of fun. The physics are excellent, especially when you crash! The combat is a riot (especially with the great sound effects). The only (very minor) disappointment I have is that there are only two songs on the soundtrack, so they get a little repetitive. I guess that's due to limited space on the cartidge though. All in all, I'd say this is a must-have game for N64 owners!
Fantastic. But...?

This grandmother biker hasn't had this much fun in ages (or participated in "bad acts" without becoming actually antisocial). However... Not enough tracks, not enough games; very disappointing. I beat this thing in three days. But, then, I went back and started all over again with new character and bike... (This is addictive.) Also, on my unit, none of the "controller-setup extras" seem to function (become a Cop after winning, faster bikes, etc.), therefore surmise the "Expansion Pack" is a must (have none this moment, but will have ASAP). Yet, even with these annoyances, I LIKE THIS GAME.
