Kirby Is back! And in a good plot with new characters. Not as challenging as his previous games and it doesnt have rick owl fish or gooey. Extremely funny, Power combos, like electric and bomb is an exploding lightbulb. Kind of easy but the last guy is hard-ish, he takes you by surprise. Over all a zany, wacky knee-slapping game for our little puffball.
Great Game

At first, I was just stunned at how good the graphics were. They're not realistic, no, but it's unmatched! I can't believe this is an N64 game. NO ANGULAR GRAPHICS! That's enough reason for me to purchase this game. OK, but it does have few downfalls.
Too easy for older kids. It'll take less than a week to complete all the levels. Fortunately, you have to collect hidden crystals from all levels afterwards to unlock...something. I'm not there yet. Getting all those crystals can be a pain in the [rear]!
Bottom Line: Buy it! It's a must-have for all N64 gamers out there. Yes, I know, we've all been hating all those angular graphics but that's not the case here! Buy Kirby 64 ahora!

With powers that can't be matched you can enter into new worlds as you explore the planet looking for the crystal shards. It comes with 3 mini games you can play to test your skills. With a full line of cute and dangerous caracters as you enter new worlds of excitment the levels keep on getting better!! This is a great game for kids who have imagination and think that the inpossible is impossible.

A fun and cute game, with a bunch of cool abilities. As like the other Kirby games, made for the beginner and advanced gamers alike. Kirby teams up with his old friends: waddle dee, King dedede, and adeline. But don't forget his new friend ribbon. a whole lot of Kirby fun, ENJOY!
My first Kirby game.

This was my first kirby game and I really enjoyed it (even though I didn't get all the shards yet.) There are 7 planets (you get the seventh after you get all 100 shads). Plus, 4 levels and 1 boss on each planet. The boss on Ripple star was easy to me because all you have to do is have the same technique and throw it at him. The first planet is Pop Star, the second is Rock Star, then Aqua Star, after that Neo Star, plus Shiver Star then Ripple star. I don't know the last. Well, I hope you enjoy it because even my sister (almost 4) likes it.
MY FAVORITE GAME!!![.]

Don't listen to other people! This game is the best one I've ever played in my entire life. You can mix-n-match abilities to create stronger ones, such as needle + ice = sharp snowflake, and stone + spark = electric rope tied to a stone. There are tons of cool abilities you can get and even double it, such as cutter + cutter = very large boomerang with spikes on the edges, or needle + needle = spiky gadgets (bee stinger, compass, pencil, scissors, etc. all on the edges). My favorite abilities are cutter + spark (light sabre), needle + ice (sharp snowflake), cutter + stone (stone shapes), cutter + needle (teeth trap), and fire + cutter (flaming sword). I LOVE many others but those are some of my favorites :)
An excellent game for the N64

This was the first kirby game I ever got my hands on. And since then, I have been playing numerous games from the series. I heard about the Kirby series while playing Super Smash Bros. I became skilled with Kirby's character, swallowing Link and Samus and using DK's super punch...then I heard about the Crystal Shards on a commercial and got it.
It is indeed an excellent game. The story is thus: Kirby gets smacked on the head with a strange crystalline object and is thrust into an adventure with countless baddies, deadly bosses, and cool music. I particularly enjoyed combining two powers and make a new one. You could combine spark and freeze and turn Kirby into a refrigerator in order to heal himself with food. Or you could combine needle with freeze and turn Kirby into a giant expanding snowflake that freezes enemies that come near it. Pure ownage.
For the most part, this game is short and simple, with the exception of a few levels and bosses: On World 5: Shiver Star, there are two difficult levels. And as for the bosses, I'd have to say the boss of Neo Star is real cool-looking and hard.
The effects are what really give this game a significant boost in terms of quality; the sound effects are devastating. When fighting Mag Man, the boss of world 4: Neo Star, it uses a special attack in which lava thrusts your platform into the ceiling; you could hear the magnificent sound effect of searing lava lunging upward, and it really amplified Mag Man's image as a boss character.
Not only are the effects great, but so is the level design! Each level has great detail, enemy locations, and great twists. On Shiver Star, there is a level that most closely resembles a mega-mall in the winter time; you can ride escalators, elevators, dodge colorful falling shelves. Another exciting level would be the underground factory on the same world. The background art is astounding for this level; you see tanks of frozen organisms that look extremely freakish, there are strange grinning machines that try to crush you, and there are tight spaces with cannons and the ceiling trying to crush you against the floor. Whoa.
And the music goes along with the situation: in the wintertime mega-mall level, Christmas-type music plays. In the factory level, mechanical percussion dominates. In the more pleasant grassy stages, peaceful classic Kirby music plays as you hop along swallowing guys for their powers.
The only fault I found with this game was that I wish it was longer. If you ever get bored with it, start collecting enemy info cards, playing the multiplayer minigames, listening to the sound tests, and even trying to collect each and every crystal shard and experiment with various abilities. It is nigh impossible to be bored with this game.
Let me make a comment on the graphics as well: they are great. These graphics are worthy of a sega dreamcast, they are not the traditional "blocky" graphics of several N64 games; they are easily told apart.
That's all the info I need to state that this is easily one of the best N64 games out there. Being a huge Nintendo fan, i highly recommend you buy this game. If you have an N64 without this game in your library, I hope you find it, because you'll regret it if you don't.
Awesome, Ideal for old school gamers

This is a real rarity, made in the very brief period between side scrollers and the godawful spinning camera 3D games of today. It is a side scroller, but with awesome, 3d Graphics in every scene, truly the best of both worlds. Most people who play this game get hooked on it. I have never been able to get into the PS or gamecube games because I hate that constant, disorienting camera movement, or the stick control where it's impossible to run straight, and then as soon as you get going the right way, the camera spins around and suddenly you are going the opposite way... Talk about annoying. Games like Super Mario 2 and Kirby64 are a million times better, because anyone can play them. They are really cute and fun, and you can actually see where you're going! We really need more cool, 3D side scrollers like this. This one is still selling for $15-20 used, because it IS that good. I got the 64 deck just to play this game, and am still trying to find *anything* else that is close to its quality and game type and compatible with the system. I lent it to my friend's modern, hyperactive kids and they were hooked instantly and actually preferred it over their newer, 3D Nausea-fest games. I had to take it back in a hurry because I was afraid they would try to keep it.
In conclusion, way cool and fun to play over and over. It is very much like the better Super Mario games, where there is no time limit and you can explore the worlds all you want, and replay the ones you like. The combo weapons are awesome, too, and the boards are relatively easy to complete up until the 75% mark or so. None of that constant dying on the lower boards until you get frustrated and give up. This is a fun journey to go on, very player-friendly.
