Battlefront 2 for the psp is pretty much like the first battlefront except some new levels and the ability to be jedis. Battlefront is definitly a good game to buy but like the first one it eventually gets old. One of the things that would have made this game better is infrastructure mode but it only has adhoc mode.I expected a little more from the new jedi enhancement they made to the game. You can play just about every hero, villian, or jedi but the gay thing is you have to earn enough points to use one and each one has a timer on it, so you eventually will die.Overall I think this is a good game to buy.
awsome!!!!!!!!!!!

John is right this game is not as good as its consol bretheren, BUT ITS BATTLEFRONT IN YOUR HAND!!!!!!!!!! That is what makes this game worth the but there are some cons, the graphics for levels like hoth and naboo could have been done a lot better, the controls arer kind of hard to get used to. other than those slight setbacks this game is awsome! Yeah still get the consel version and enjoy BattleFront 2 to its fullest, but if you have a PSP and you like Battlefront you have to get this game!!!
Frustrating but fun (when it works)

Let me preface this by saying that I'm a freak for the original BattleFront and plan on buying the PS2 version of this one as well as the PSP version I own. That being said...
As noted in other reviews, the controls take a loooooong time to master; gamers used to the original game on PS2 will be most comfortable with the default layout, but it still takes a while to get used to the buttons being the movement control.
The graphics are pretty good, considering this is a portable unit, and the music is fantastic (gotta love the old John Williams, eh?). Many of the maps will be familiar from the first game, although not all areas are present in all maps, so be prepared to not have your favorite sniper nest to hide away in.
I haven't had the chance yet to link up a networked game, but I'm still having fun acing Gungans and Ewoks as the Imperial Enforcer. You'll also have a blast taking over the Jedi characters, using the Force to knock enemies over or choke them silly before taking the 'saber to 'em.
The biggest complaint I have has been mentioned in other reviews: the game freezes between missions and especially gets annoying when you try to save games. Since characters and maps are unlocked as you progress through missions, it becomes a hair-pulling experience when you finally beat a mission you've been working on for four hours only to have the PSP freeze up so bad you have to remove the battery.
Sony: If you read this review, I'm loving the game but hating the glitches. Fix the bugs and offer the first-round buyers an even-up exchange for the patched version through a UMD swap!
For everyone out there, I recommend picking the game up for a console or PC, but hold off on the PSP version for a while until these bugs get fixed.
It ain't console, but neither is the psp

Star Wars Battlefront II is the best game ever on the PS2. When transferring this immense game to handheld, some sacrifices had to be made (such as only 13 maps and no story mode). But hey, it's still battlefront 2 and it plays like battlefront 2. The controls are not the best thing ever, due to no L2, R2, R3, L3, and Right analog stick, but they somehow managed to still get it to work. Ex: since droideka doesn't jump, instead of using a seperate button to transform into ball mode, you use the jump button. Many compromises like this have been made, and it results in a must-have for any PSP owner. The graphics are nearly that of the ps2, which is amazing for such a small device such as the psp. Breakdown:
GRAPHICS:9/10
The graphics are top-notch for a handheld game.
Gameplay: 10/10
It's battlefront 2. Gameplay is awesome no matter what
Controls:7/10
The somewhat faulty conrols are due to the fact that psp doesn't have enough buttons, but the controls are much better than i expected them to be.
Presentation:9/10
Main menu looks very similar to that on the console version, exept it has gameplay movies on the two sides, not the actual movies likein console. Other than that it looks just like the console version:-)
Overall:9/10
Amazing that you can transfer a game the magnitude of Battlefront II and not lose much out of it. My only complaint would be lack of infastructure online multiplayer. If you're lookng for an online shooter, then get SOCOM: Fireteam bravo.
This game is a must for any star wars fan or psp owner. no doubt about that.
GREAT

this game is great - the controls are difficult to master, and it is hard to find a set you like. but once you do, it's ALL fun. A great bonus is that you can switch to 1st or 3rd person POV!!!
DOES NOT WORK WITH 1.5!

:WARNING: If you have PSP 1.5 this game will not work! The only way to get it to work is to upgrade to 2.0 which will make your emulators unable to be used! :WARNING:

Woot! I'm the first =)
I think the game is pretty fun so far. I've only had it for a day. I bought it on open release day 01NOV05 and it is 02NOV05 today.
The game graphics is really nice in my opinion considering it being on a PSP and sounds effects not to bad but can get redundant, I do not mind at all. Now I am not sure if later in the game you might hear the voices of major characters since this is the first time for me to play the Star Wars Battlefront series and on the PSP at that.
The control for the game for me is a bit hard to grasp, even the easy setting, though I am starting to get use to the Default setting (many failed missions and a lot of patience), so I am starting to enjoy the game more. I think if I were playing this game on a computer the game control would be not as a big deal, but hey! They had to cram all this stuff on a PSP control settings.
Seems to be a lot of space fights so get use to it. I however do not do so well on that battle front, I usually fail that part of the combat =( but again I don't mind at all... Heck! I am fling a X-Wing fighter for goodness sake!
My only complaint is long load times and I don't know if it's just me but the game seems to hang/lock up on me after you get to the final tally screen. I have to take the battery out of my PSP to kill the game so I can again regain control of my PSP, I mean everything is locked up... Power Button, Home Button, etc. Anyone having this problem too?
Would be nice to have some sort load symbol or something during those times so I know the game is loading instead of listening for the game disk to be wiz'n. Don't get me wrong there is a loading screen but only on the start of each game. I'm talking about in the Galactic Conquest mode. Going from conquest to conquest.
If they needed to save some space to increase load times then I would of recommended that the got rid of the tutorials. I think it was a waste of space in my opinion.
Over all... I really like this game. I love playing all the things i grew up with on the big screen, the X-Wing fighter, playing as a jedi, and so much more.
Well, that's my two cent worth... May the force be with you!
An Excellent Game

Finally, a great TPS/FPS for PSP! The graphics are amazing, of course, but the game play is first-rate, and the controls are excellent, even if they are not as customizable as some folks might have liked. If you haven't played "Battle Front", it will take some getting used to. The space combat will take getting used to even if you have played "Battle Front".
It has an incredible number of options in the way the game can be played. I found the "Basic" control scheme easiest to use. Totally Awesome.
