i do not play this game much anymore, but i had a lot of fun when i first got it, it is worth every penny of the 9.99, it doesn't have very good graphics because its old, but its a classic, and a must have for any first person shooter fan.

Shockingly effective

This game is really crude and simplistic by today's standards, being just about 10 years old. A total of three weapons, and three primary enemies (with a handful of bosses), 320x200 resolution, 8-bit funky, plunky music. (Great rendition of the Nazi anthem and a lot of good mood music, given the limitations.)

Originally, the id designers had something more elaborate in mind, and then stripped it all out to make a pure action game. And as such, it still manages to offer a few visceral thrills, with Nazis jumping out from behind you, rabid German Shepherds leaping for your throat and the like.

Wolf3D, of course, was the seminal modern First Person Shooter, having countless spin-offs and reintroducing the first person viewpoint to the PC (which used FP consistently only for things like flight/space sims).

Not for jaded 21st century gamers, of course. But a little bit of history and nostalgia.

This fps started it all

You want an excuse to murder the Evil Nazi of the 3rd Riech? This is it, for you. The game that started the 3D, first person shooter gener - yes, the classic. You want graphics? Go somewhere else. You want overly complex maps or key items? Go somewhere else. This game is a more simple verson of several new titles out there and for good reason - it's the oldest. Take it home with you, and give it a whirl (if it will run on your new XP system). The price is right, for the enjoyment you'll get.

Wolfenstein 3-D: The first TRUE first person shooters. Designed by, the now well known, ID software back in "92. This once brilliant game reshaped the way we look at video games today. Had this game not been made, we may not of had todays shooters like Half-Life and Perfect Dark. What would we do then? Though this is a revolutionary game, it doesn't hold up well by today's standards. Cartoonish graphics and low-quality sound/music make this title not the best for those who play games because the look detailed. However, if you are a TRUE gamer, and know TRUE quality, you have found your game. The artificial inteligence is poor, the map size and detail is poor. The sprites, with the exception of guards, are one sided and don't animate, but they go well with the overall atmosphere. I, personally, own a copy of this title, and play it frequently. I dare say this game will never get 'old'.

Sure a Classic Game but...

This game is obviously pretty bad cause its old but you CAN get a bit fun out of it shooting nazis that say the same thing over and over... you love low grade shooters, go ahead and get this (And DOOM)

One note: Prove yourself with the impossible nightmare difficulty level in this game - The one feature I bought it 6 years ago for :).

It's the same one

It's the age-old classic. If you're not familiar with the age-old classic, Wolfenstien 3-D was one of the orignal first-person shooters. There was no variation in floor to ceiling height, in fact there were no textures for the floor or ceiling at all. It just had a large gray area for the ceiling and floor. Your objective is to storm each castle, fighting everyone's favorite badguys, the nazis. You can equip knives, pistols, machine guns and miniguns. Too bad my new ubercomputer can't play DOS games that well. It would be nice if there was an emulator on the CD allowing it to run in Windows, however this is just the same MS-DOS game packaged in a fancy new jewel case.

An old game for a game-challenged old timer. Just about my speed and a nice nostalgia trip.

It sucks

This game is stupid. It makes my stomach hurt to play it. It reminds me of some random Sunday afternoon in the middle of summer when the sun is setting sitting in some old dusty single-wide in Central Georgia right next to a cotton field with no one else there except some big fat nasty woman named Louise, and she's wearing some cloth black shorts and some nursing home looking t-shirt and flip-flops.

Not the same

Just wanted to warn people. This is not the new Wolfenstein game. This is the old one from 1992. I don't know why they are rereleasing it, and charging (amount) for it, probably to trick people.
