Sail on the Titanic and Change History!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 19 / 19

This game is so intriguing and so realistic I found myself rushing to my computer after work to play it. In this game, you're free to tour the famous ship: the gymnasium, wireless room, smoking room, cabins, Turkish bath, even the engine, turbine, and boiler rooms and the top of the last smoke stack! You get to meet all sorts of characters, from social debutantes to a Serbian revolutionist. Listen to what they say. Each character gives you clues that will help you solve the game. In solving the game, you will perform tasks like sending a wireless, developing negatives, and decoding messages. It is a game that requires strategy, observation, and thought. Try out your ideas-they may work. My advice is to save this game often as you're playing and several times at various stages so you can return to a spot when you think you've figured something out. This game is not difficult, but does take time and thought. Don't give up, it's worth it in the end. As a former history major, I appreciate the period items you find on the ship (including a wax-cylinder gramophone which was a bit out of date even for the Titanic) and the lessons you get in the events that led to the First World War. You won't be able to save the Titanic, but you might be able to change history by altering the past. My only qualm is that the game freezes up A LOT which is very frustrating when you are getting into the storyline. Again, I can't stress enough the need to save where you're at in the game OFTEN. I also recommend the book "Titanic Adventure Out of Time Hints and Solutions" not just to solve the game (you may be able to solve it without it) but as an interesting supplement to the historical and scientific themes of the game. The music and graphics are excellent. You can really lose yourself in this game. Even after solving it, I find myself wanting to play it again and again.

Great graphics, historically accurate, cool puzzles.

This is a GREAT game. The puzzles are really cool (though a few are a little but unlikely and obscure, but still). This may sound a little strange, but I think what really helps "make" the game is the soundtrack. The music for this game is PERFECT. It's so haunting and mysterious. You just know that there are great mysteries to be unveiled (alright, that sounded really cheesy). Seriously though, this is awesome. It's also cool how the game can have a lot of different outcomes depending on what you accomplish and how you do it.
A great adventure game, especially for those interested in the Titanic disaster.

Keeps you playing till the end.

The other reviews covered the plot of the game very well, so I will not repeat what was already said.

I got this game back in 1998 when I was still living in Russia. With the help of subtitles (that are an option for the game) and a dictionary, my sister, her friends and I spent every evening for 6 months trying to complete the game. I did not have a cheat guide that I could refer to in order to get past the points where I got stuck, so I just had to keep on playing. I loved the 1st person point of view, all the puzzles, ability to interact with so many characters and do such things as fencing, fist-fighting, sending telegrams, even trying to sail the ship! There are three alternate endings, only one of them is a happy one. So, basically, you can finish the game but not accomplish your mission. Even after I was done with the game I had a feeling that I could've prevented the ship from sinking - it seems that the game gives you everything you would need except for the chance to steer the ship off of the dangerous route right before the catastrophe.

I re-play this game every couple of years and every time I still get stuck at a point that I cannot remember the solutions for.

If you like non-action adventure games, give a try to Titanic - it will make your brain sizzle.

Titanic Adventure out of time is about a British man who was sent onto the Titanic to prevent wars from happening such as the nazi's and the soviets. The game has great graphics, voice acting, and a great plot. You can go to just about any part of the ship. There is also a free roam mode where you can go anywhere to get used to the ship. Great for Titanic lovers.

"Titanic: Adventure out of Time" is about a man in the British secret service who was assigned to the Titanic to prevent disasterous wars which the Facists in Germany and Communists in Russia were planning.

The game is great. Play it. You won't be sorry.

You start of in your room in 1942. When a bomb falls you get sent back in time to the Titanic. You are in your stateroom and you get to go and explore the ship! You help with a couples marrage and solve a mystery. After you play the game for a while more things come up. You get to send wireless, talk to Fortune tellers, save a marrage, prevent being shot, disarm bombs, discise men as women, find a stolen book, painting, notebook, and deal with fake and real dimend necklaces. You also need to find a way to get on a lifeboat in time when the ship hits an iceburg. As it sinks, you can help another passenger survive, reunite a mom and her baby, play cards to live, and see diffrent parts of the Titanic flooding. This is the best Titanic game ever!!!

Come and play the 3-d adventure!

As a child, I was introduced to the Titanic's story by my grandparents. My grandmother showed me this game. I spent countless hours in front of that computer, trying to solve the mysteries that the many rooms of the Titanic held. It was simply astounding.

I went back to have another go, several months ago, and I am still rather amazed by the things I saw. The graphics, for their time, were spectacular (at least in my opinion). Honestly, they're more tolerable than some of our modern-day graphics. The game play wasn't terribly complicated. It was easy to move about, simply by using the arrow keys. Navigating the screen was a simple matter of pointing and clicking. Holding conversations with the other passengers was intriguing. Sometimes, the things they said would help you progress in the game. Other times, it would just be fascinating information relevant to the time period.

I'll admit, the game can get rather frustrating. To this day, I have not beaten it (though I have come close a few times!). It's helpful to write down information that is given to you as you play. Otherwise, there is the chance that you'll forget it, since the game won't remember everything for you. And the game did freeze up a lot. This was part of the reason for my never completing it. I'd spend so much time trying to get the game unfrozen, that I'd run out of patience to continue playing the actual game.

All in all though, it really is a splendid game, which provides hours and hours of entertainment, for those with just a little bit of patience.

Great Game worth your money

I thought this game was fantastic! It is very addicting. I first played it when it first came out in 1998 at my friend's house. Then I bought it for myself about three years later. I have beat the game with an unhappy ending, so I still feel I didn't do one of the tasks right. The Hints and Solutions book is a wonderful asset to this game. If I didn't have that book, I think I would have been completely lost on what I was supposed to do on the game. This is a fun game for history buffs or fans of Titanic.

Great game with different endings. Be sure to save a lot. You CAN die. Took a lot of memory. But it is worth it. This is second time playing it. Music is melencholy...sp?

Lots of ways to go. Many choices. Do not see that very often.

An oldy but a great one for me. First time I played, I thought the dame was a mutton head and in my way. I did not know I was supposed to love her. So keep that in mind.

Two Thumbs Way Up!

This is my favorite adventure game I have played! It's exciting and fun without any gore. And unlike some other adventure games, you don't have to spend half the time moving the mouse over every inch of the interface trying to find some infinitesimal object. Also, some puzzles can be a pain. There's one safe puzzle, but if you do a certain thing, you don't even have to do it! The story is very good and well-thought out.You start out in London during World War II as an ex-spy who failed his mission on the Titanic years ago. Basically, you go back in time and play the mission you failed on the Titanic. And this time, you want to get it right. Onboard the ship, you encounter, blackmail, murder and a marital crisis, (and also Vlad Demonic). The ending is very well done, and when you get the right ending, it is pretty much a feel-good ending. (I didn't win the first time though) There are all kinds of things you can get involved in during the game, making it all the more interesting. The acting in the game is very good. Also, the characters in the game are believable and developed. Although this game is a little outdated (at least my version) the graphics are fairly good and realistic. One of the biggest problems is that when you move around the graphics are blurred for a second, (but then they clear right up). If there is a newer version, this problem may have been cleared up, though. And the enviroment is great. (I am a Titanic person) Also, the company has re-created the Titanic's interiors and exteriors very accurately. (There are a few things they got wrong, but nothing to worry about too much.) Titanic buffs will appreciate the attention to most details. And if you want to become familar with the ship without playing the game there is also a tour. The background music is good as well, setting the right tone. It tends to be on the darker side, but it fits well for this game. But if the music is too distracting, you have the option to turn it off. Probabaly the worst thing about this game is that you cannot save the Titanic, (at least as far as I know). But this game is very fun and exciting. I've played it uncountable numbers of times and I would CERTAINLY recommend this game. Enjoy!
