Don't buy this if you ALREADY have the Sims 2!!!!

We got this thinking it was an expansion with new items and abilities to celebrate holidays. Nope, it's the FULL Sims 2 game (at full game price, too) and some items. If you already have the Sims 2, DO NOT BUY THIS. You will screw up your current install and just be buying the game twice. Go to the Sims2 EA website and buy the item expansion for $15 instead of this game.

NOT and addon

To anyone who purchased or is considering purchasing this as an addon to the Sims 2, DON'T. It's not an expansion-pack. It's a re-release of the original game. It has additional content, but you can also obtain that in the Holiday Party Pack (if you can find it) most of the additional content was also availible on the Sims 2 Website.

If, on the other hand, you do not have the Sims 2 and are considering buying the original release, you should get this one instead.

If you think this is an expansion buy yourself a dunce cap.

Seriously. The Sims 2 is a great game. Buy this game if you don't already have the Sims 2 because it's the same price and comes with extra items.

Anyone who thinks/thought this is an expansion quite obviously didn't look at the box. It's pretty much a bundle for people who OBVIOUSLY haven't gotten the game yet and were thinking about picking it up. It's the game. With extra items. For the same price.

Anyone who complains about there being two versions of this and calling THIS ONE the rip off is really not that smart.

It's like someone who buys an X-BOX core system and then the X-BOX deluxe bundle and then complains about the fact that the X-BOX deluxe is the same X-BOX just with more stuff.

Honestly, the other reviewers who said not to buy this are retarded.

If you don't have the Sims 2 already and you want it, there's really no reason not to pick it up and if the person you're planning on giving it to (if it's a gift) doesn't already have it than it's also a great Christmas present being that it's

the SAME as the Sims 2
for the SAME price
but with EXTRA stuff
for the SAME
STARTING cost.

Seriously.

DUH.

outstanding - and great bargain

What a fun game! It's everything from the fist Sims plus better graphics and more customization.

Also, why would anyone buy the "regular" edition for $35 when this is includes the whole game plus some holiday stuff for $20? I thought it was a mistake at first.

The only annoying thing was that the CD key is printed on the back page of the manual. The install procedure tells you to look on the CD case. That was really irritating until I figured it out.

DO NOT BUY THE HOLIDAY PACK

If you already own the Sims 2 you can purchase the holiday stuff alone on the maxis website for $14.99. Total waste of money. Or you can buy the Sims 2 game with the holiday stuff included. DO NOT BUY IT. I bought the holiday pack off the maxis website, and as it turns out most of the stuffincluded in the holiday pack you can download FOR FREE off the sims 2 website. So I spent money on stuff I could have downloaded for free. Of course when you click to buy the holiday party pack, there is no "WARNING: THIS STUFF CAN BE DOWNLOADED FOR FREE HERE NO NEED TO PURCHASE" I know it was less than $20, but that money could have been better spent. Just do not purchase any holiday packs whatever you do...

A Great Game!

I really don't understand what so many people are upset about. Ever since this game was announced, it was CLEARLY STATED that The Sims 2 Holiday Edition is the base game plus holiday items. It was also CLEARLY STATED that the Sims 2 Holiday Party Pack was just the 40 holiday items, which you can download from the website for $14.99. Admittedly, you can get 12 of the items for free, but there are 28 left that you buy with the pack, so I really don't think this is a rip-off. I think people are just mad at themselves because they weren't paying close enough attention to what they were buying. And that certainly isn't EA's fault. They are not trying to rip anyone off. They are a business, and the main goal of a business is to make money. What's wrong with that?

The Sims 2 But Better

When I heard there was a Sims 2 I was so excited, but when I heard there was a Sims 2 Holiday Edition I was shocked with joy! The Sims 2 Holiday Edition is basically The Sims 2 but with holiday items. You can celebrate Christmas, New Years, Halloween, and Easter. It's way better than The Sims, you can age your Sims, add make-up, and a lot more. The Sims 2 Holiday Edition is a Christmas Must-Have!

Read Carefully

If you read the box carefully then you know that there are only 40 new items and that it is just the same game as the Sims 2. However if you do not previously own The Sims 2 and you get this item then you have a deal.

Not Worth The Price

I love the Sims and bought the holiday add on and paid less than 15.00 for it. I was shocked at the lack of objects included. There are maybe 40 items. The wall paper and floors are not worth the price I paid. The version here has the sims 2 included and I can tell you the price is to high. I hope this isn't the way the Sims will go in the future. I have really enjoyed all the games up until this X-Mas Rip off.

Don't Be Fooled Like I Was

This is another edition of the Sims 2 with added holiday items. I thought it was an expansion pack. I couldn't load it and finally figured out that I had purchased the Sims2 game again! I discovered at the Sims2 website that there is an add-on available called Party Pack but I haven't seen it for sale anywhere including here at Amazon. So I bought the same game twice to get a few Holiday items that aren't that great anyway.
