Diablo meets Baldur's Gate, at half the price

When the huge budget RPG's rule all the media attention there are good smaller games that can go unnoticed. Siege of Avalon falls into that category. This is a lower budget title, but if what you want is a game that focuses on being FUN, especially if you seek a real tale of a grand scale, then this is one I highly recommend.

Good graphics (2D isometric, so even if you don't have the latest 3D card you can play a very good looking game), a variety of nice features, and probably the most well developed and original STORY I've seen in a long time.

Be prepared to read... This game doesn't use voice actors, and the conversations from hundreds of characters are interesting but plentiful. The company uses the line, "Played Any Good Books Lately?" and that is a perfect indicator of the way this game is designed. In one sense this is the most interactive book ever made.

This was originally released online as a series of downloadable "Chapters" (...). Now in this Anthology CD form they added lots of great new features and put the whole saga on a CD at a discounted price. This really is a good bargain. You should check out their web site online, the customer interaction is unprecedented, and you can come chat with thousands of existing fans of Avalon. Welcome to our world.

Lastly, got a friend interested in RPG but never quite got into the genre? This game has a tutorial in the User's Manual that combined with the very simple game interface makes for a great "First RPG" experience... Cool gift idea.

One of the best rpg games of the year - You startout as a young boy going to Avalon to find your brother and end up being the last hope of saving Avalon form falling to the murderous Sha'Ahoul. Your quest takes you through 6 chapters of exciting fun (it's like playing a book)! Not to mention the outstanding support from the creative team, who continually update the product and add new quests in with the updates! Truely an outstanding product!
As the company says:"Played any good books lately?"

Easy to load, easy to play--and challenging fun

This CD contains 6 levels that produce a lot of gaming fun. You
have a light character building feature--like Revenant and Soulbridger. It's not a damanding effort to get you character
into a fight or successfully finding key items and doorways. If you mess up, the game automatically sets an level option to replay a level. There are a few quests that must be performed before you succeed in levels 3-6. But if you get lost, there are
several great game walkthrus online.
It's fun. It's swift and not taxing on your PC. You can play as
a mage, warrior, or scout. There are many training characters to help you get up your points. At first I played without applying my training-points to build up my character---and the point being, I still enjoyed the playing. The only draw was when I needed to find that walkthru. There's a character I needed to located in level 2, Simek, whom I missed at the first go. When I got to level three, he had disappeared from the level. Oh, and you will need to download a patch--must like 75% of other PC games.

It's a good game, only one problem

This is a good game with a lot of reading as well as action. You can pick every aspect of your character from skin tone, long or short hair to facial hair, and clothes to his attributes(alot more control on attributes than BG, which was horrid) The best part is it is like playing six games in one(6 chapters). My only gripe is installation. If you have an ATI video card, be wary. Even if you have DirectX 8, 8a, or 8.1, the game will install DirectX 7a over your newer version. This can corrupt directX and it will not work properly on any game. My parent's computer has a Rage Pro Turbo and DirectX 8.1 and is not dectected by this install program. My parent's computer will have to be reformatted and they don't seem too happy about it! I tried installing it to my own machine today after coming home from a long holliday visit(removing it from my parent's PC of course), my Voodoo 5 /w DX 8.1 had no problems. ATI's Radeon may not, but be careful you are taking a gamble.

Even my 8 year old daughter has been intrigued by the story and action of this game. One of the first lessons she learned, within about one hour of play, was how a buy and sell market worked. She was amazed that it cost more to buy the same item than she could sell it for, allowing me to explain to her how the marketplace works.

We have spent many enjoyable hours together reading this book and moving through the richly textured landscape. And she doesn't mind starting over when she is overun by water beetles in the depths of Avalon.

An superb game

I have played a fair number of RPG games, but rarely have I been so pulled into a game for more than just the ability to fight or to cast spells. There is actually a PLOT in this game, and it is clearly well thought-out and integrated. The character interactions are great and the graphics are more than adequate.

It does happen that the game has moments of monotony, but they are thankfully brief; maybe it is my poor memory, but I also forget where some characters are, so when I have to go visit someone I saw two Chapters before, it it annoying to have to run all over and find them. Also, I found that the loading time between screens can be a bit too long.

However, with that said, this is one of the best RPG games I have ever played and look forward to seeing what else Global Star can put out.

Play and Enjoy!

A great story, a great price, a great game!

This game is an unexpected treasure. It is a first release from makers Digital Tome who are focusing on putting a real STORY into a good game. Their tag line is "Played Any Good Books Lately?" and it sets the tone for this product.

This is something of a cross between Diablo and Baldur's Gate. Easy to learn, simple and effective interface and controls, lots of conversation and talking NPC's to advance a real plot.

It takes a while to earn your way into the more advanced sections of the game, you can not even add members to your Party until you reach Chapter 2 (there are 6 Chapters on this Anthology CD -- which covers the whole Siege of Avalon story). The good news is that the game is sufficiently fun and addicting that you'll work you way into the features, the different game worlds, and the deceptively diverse whole experience quickly enough to come to appreciate what has been accomplished with this rather unique game design idea.

There is a ton of information (online...).

It is a shame they don't advertise this more, this title deserves a lot more recognition that it is getting.

Excellent RPG...

It is truly like reading a book, it provides an excellent storyline, very entertaining, excellent game play, tons of unique equipment and just an overall good roleplaying game. For 7 dollars to buy, you cannot go wrong. If you enjoy games like Baulder's gate, Torment and neverwinter night, this game is a must have. I only wish it was a bit longer with more areas to play.

The Graphics in this game, in my opinion is much better than Baulder's gate 2. The characters are crisp. The game is easy to play and learn. No headaches, no learning curve and characters could be totally customized.

This is an undoubtedly solid game. However, it suffers severely from plain looking graphics, and the play control is a bit gawky at times. Probably the worst bit is that the main baddies are unbelievably tough to kill, so I'm not even past the first chapter. Overall it gets dull and eventually you just give up on it. It had great potential, I love how it would tell a story, but it needs better design.

This is great!!!

I've had this thing a months and i'm only 1/3 of the way through a game(I have beaten it but I have to go back and play as another character.) I have to say that I have one problem, the interface can be tricky and it takes some time to load. Other then that it is an enjoyable experience.
