STAY AWAY FROM THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE

The reason I cannot recommend this game is not because it is not fun and exciting, the truth is I couldn't tell you how fun it is because I never got it to run.

I bought this game for my daughter as a Christmas present because she loves SIM games. I was torn between Railroad Pioneer and Railroad Tycoon. I decided on Railroad Pioneer because it seemed to be more education. What a mistake.

The plain truth is this game was just not developed and tested well. A fact that I did not learn until after I bought it. (...). Oh and incase you think the problem lies with me or my machine, I am a software developer and know how to get stubborn games to run, but not this one. There is just too much wrong with it, starting with the install. I spent about 7 hours on it and never got past the introduction screen. I finally threw it in my trashcan, where it belongs.

Please take my advice and leave this game alone. Maybe the JoWooD people will get the hint that they cant put out bad product and get away with it.

Great Railroad game

I have to say that I didn't have anything like the experience of R. Brooks. I'm not a software developer, but all I had to do was install it and double-click on the icon to start playing. It's a whole lot of fun, although it's different from Transport Tycoon or such, so some aspects took a bit of adjustment for me.

Basically, you control track, train destinations, industries, research, town development, and troupes of explorers. This is a good historical game, and I look forward to playing it more as time allows. Enjoy.
