This version of Monopoly is really nice, in that they put lots of spit and polish into it. Very nice animations, video cutscenes, etc. And all the 'extras' can be individually turned off too, which is good because after 15 minutes of them repeating, it becomes tiresome. But it's a well done game.
Unfortunately, THIS GAME IS WRITTEN FOR WINDOWS >> 3.1 <and follows old Win3.1 install conventions, which puts files places they really shouldn't be.
Which would be fine if there was an update, but aren't any. So it's unplayable now (wont run on Win2000.) A shame. For it's day, this was a really sharp title.
Loaded Dice?

I'm not sure what's wrong with the dice generator on this game or how the odds are stacked. However, I bought this game to have a little fun with a computer opponent(one). Everyone knows that if you play again one opponent the game will go faster. So I like to just spend a short time(an hour or less playing). However I find that when I play against one computer opponent I will usually lose. For example the computer will usually get first roll and will usually get all properties of one color first. If you don't mind losing time and time again (you're a little masochistic) then this is fun. I have looked for updates or patches to this program but have never seen any that will balance the lopsided 'luck' that the computer usually has. I must say then that the computer has 'loaded dice.' Has anyone else had the same experience? Is this problem corrected in newer versions? I'll give it two stars for the ability to play online against a human opponent but the computer opponent's 'luck' knocks off 4 stars

The product is faulty and I have contacted Beach Audio and they told me to contact Hasbro which I did and they have done nothing about it either. I am very upset.

I guess I should not have expected the computer version of Monopoly to be any more exciting than the board game. It is, after all, Monopoly! But at least in the board game, you are moving more muscles than your index finger! I played this game at a relative's house, and I am very glad I did so. I now know not to buy it. Not only is it very slow, but also it is very hard to see. I needed a magnifying glass to view some of the graphics. I do suggest this game for chronic insomniacs--within thirty minutes, you will be out like a light!!!
Somewhat Disappointing

Graphics are an improvement over the previous Hasbro version of Monopoly, but the special features are annoying. Seriously, how many times do you want to hear "Mr. Monopoly" exclaim, "Eighter from Decateur!" or "Show me the money, Sack!"? Not to mention the annoying animated tokens or the dizzying 3D "camera work."
Trades are confusing, and the computer opponents play the game like crazed lunatics. Wait until one gets a monopoly and starts building houses. The turn will take forever, as the elated opponent gleefully mortages everything in sight in a frantic attempt to add another building.
I've had two versions of Monopoly for the computer and have been disappointed with both. On the other hand, a $20.00 Super Nintendo cartridge of the game generated hours of fun. The graphics were simpler and the options were fewer, but maybe that's why I enjoyed it.
Overall- Pretty Good

It's not too bad when you play the game but you have to admit - the cover's sort of cheesy. It's nice because you can create your own board and choose pictures for it but I made a board and then next time I went on and tried using it but it wouldn't work. The basic idea is worth 5 stars but making it work made me lower by 2 stars. And now whenever I try using it won't work. So Windows ME users - PLEASE DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME.
OK at this price - not excellent

This game is OK at this price but it could have been made much better with a little more work. When computer proposes a trade, you can't see the details of the title deed cards involved in the trade - so keep guessing. Graphics is good but not excellent. At this price, it may be OK but I expected a much better work comparing to the other games of these days. Why doesn't somebody make a real good classic Monopoly game with attention to all details for many Monopoly fans out there!!!
Everyone's played monopoly right?

This game is very true to the original monopoly with all the same spaces, official rules and chance cards. If you want a budget version of the game this is a good choice. Two things I did like was the fact that you can write your own AI scripts for opposing players and that the optional rules that many people use at home are included. You can play with the free parking bonus and make the game a little more or less challenging. I didn't like how repetetive the game was as far as graphics and sounds. Delightful when you first install it but annoying as time goes on. I think as a budget title it gives you good value but monopoly fans may want to spend a few extra bucks to get a newer version with more bells and whistles.
A TRUSTY OLD STANDBY

I will say up front that I only play this game on our old computer (that still runs on Windows 95). So, I have no idea whether the guy below is right about this being unsupported on Windows 2000.
I will say this:
This computer game (like the board version) has great replay value. There is nothing like whipping five computer players and setting new personal records for money won (what more could the fallen, self-centered part of our humanity desire?).
This computer game also has some glitches. There are whole games where it seems impossible to land on any property that you can buy (once the computer owns it though--landing on it is a different matter; then the floodgates of impending poverty break forth).
The game's music is fine for a game this old. Having the different songs available adds nice variety--and in one case--some salsapoly flavor.
The host though--MAN!--his stuff, which starts out all funny, gets old mighty darn fast. You're gonna need him for auctions though, so just shutting him off can be problematic.
Overall, I have written this review to praise a game that has become an old standby. It has some flaws, most of which are somewhat entertaining. So...if you can still get this game and find a system to play it on, I give it my full recommendation.

This is the third Monopoly for computer game I've purchased and it's just not what I hoped for. I still can't find a version that gives you a full screen for play. When you click "max" on this the gameboard stays small, you just get a big white background. What's the point? Also the game seems just as buggy as the other two I've bought. I'm a serious Monopoly fan so as of now I don't plan to return it. But you'd best believe I will continue my search for a better one.
