Being a long time fan of Romero's DEAD series and a player of games like RE 1-3, HOTD 1-2, Doom 1-3, Quake, FEAR, etc...
I was looking forward to this game and had it reserved for release day.
Ugghhh what a dissapointment.
The problem was not graphics, gameplay or anything else.
The problem was PLAYABILITY.
The game was so glitched it was unplayable.
I downloaded the patch 1.1 from Groove, but still the game was unplayable.
Problems like ...
ACTION/FIRE button randomly becoming inoperative and doing nothing unless you rebooted game.
(ie... fists or weapons would not work even when health was high and ammo was full).
In fact, all mouse functions other than movement would stop working, the game would stop reading mouse clicks -or- even the "E" key for action.
No option but to exit game and start over.
Stiff (very stiff) character movement that made navigating very unpleasant.
In summary, it was simply too glitchy and aggravating to enjoy.
I uninstalled and tossed it in the trash.
I wish the game had WORKED properly and smoothly.... if so, the look and feel was right on key....... it was simply the execution that made it too annoying to try and play.
Since I have a P4-2.1GZ system with 512mb RAM, Nvidia 256 graphics card, etc..etc..etc.. and handle MUCH MORE COMPLEX games and software, my PC hardware is not the problem here.
I should have suspected problems when I learned the game was not ACT Light Gun compatible........... lets face it.... ALL FIRST PERSON SHOOTER games should be light gun compatible !
Read the other reviews. The game is Worth it!

There is an immediate assumption that if a game doesn't cost over 30 bucks it will suck. WRONG! And this is the type of game to prove this point.
Land Of The Dead is a GREAT game. The graphics are VERY good, the controls are just what you'd expect from a top FPS, and the gameplay is fun and entertaining and will make you jumpy a few times. It doesn't have such a high number of levels but will keep you shooting away for a decent period of time. I will include a few gameplay screenshots.
Bottom line, get it and enjoy. The game's story precedes the movie, so when you're done with the game, you may go ahead and watch the movie.
Good Game for the price

Ill start off by saying that if this game were to cost more than $20 I would have given it less stars but because it is only $20 it is a fair deal. LOTD is a fun game but dont expect any top of the line effects or art as in shooters like FEAR or HALF LIFE 2 because if you do you may be disappointed. The graphics in this game are not bad but not really impressive. The sounds are great and the music definitely sets and fits the horror tone to the game. Gameplay is just like other 1st person shooters but this game has some glitches and feels a little more sluggish than other 1st person shooters like FEAR or HALF LIFE 2. The story is not a bad one but not an excelent one just average but enough to keep you interested. Overall this is a good game for $20 especially for horror fans and people who like shooters. Worth it.
A thrill ride through the Romero universe

Although this is a budget game, it was a tremendous amount of fun to play, especially if you are a Romero/zombie fan. Play it with the lights out and the sound turned up and try not to jump. I had absolutely no problems loading or playing the game on my Dell 4550, Pentium 4 2.5, 512 RAM, Nvidia MX440. My only complaint is that you have to be very precise with the weapons and frequently it takes 3-4 shots to take down a zombie. I'll admit to using the cheat codes to get all the weapons and ammo a couple of times. Again, if you are a fan of the zombie movie genre, give this game a try.
Really fun, but a bit too easy!

This game is really a lot of fun. If you are into the horror game scene, this is for you. But don't think this is going to be a hard ride. As a matter of fact, this is one of the easiest games I believe I've ever played. I recommend this title if you like to have fun shooting it up!
Nice Graphics but overall disappointing

Zombie AI was just bad. Scripted events if you ducked back fast enough would cause the Zombie to stand still while you shot at them. Also it was so short a game I am glad that I got it for cheap. It took me alittle over 2 hrs to beat the game. I'd say wait till this puppy hits the $10 rack or becomes abandonware.

Maybe I've been spoiled by playing Half-Life 2, F.E.A.R, and other high quality games....but.
First off let me say that I have been anticipating the release of this game for quite a while. Being a zombie and Romero fan I thought this was a win-win situation, I was only partially right though.
I will say that the premise is intriguing. You must make your way through levels of the shambling dead to reach Fiddler's Green, the last bastion of safety of the non-undead. The problem I have is the execution of the game. The graphics themselves are not terrible, but very stiff and unrealistic. The maps are very limited and funnel from one area to another. The movement of your character as well as the undead are also stiff and stilted.
Part of the other problems are inconsistent weapon damage. I would shoot one zombie in the head point blank with the pistol and it would go down, head clean off. My next opponent would take 4 shots, to the noggin point blank, to go down.
I also had some bug problems, where the game crashed to the desktop. A patch has been released by Groove to hopefully fix the problem. This game feels like it was put out by a slightly unpolished company.
Here's how I see it....
Postives.... Great premise
Cheap price
Negatives... Outdated graphics
Poor ragdoll physics
Initial releas bugs
In closing... If your a zombie or Romero fan, this game is cheap so buy it. Don't expect cutting edge technology though. I only wished they could have done a better job with it. I would have been happy to spend an extra $20 on a great zombie game. At least I didn't spend $50-$40 on this.
Poor game, nothing as expected.

The game is nothing as you expect it to be. I expected to be able to go up to a zombie and blow his head off, but in this game it takes like three shots aimed at the head just to make a zombie fall down. The music in the game makes a bit scary at first, but then just gets annoying. When the zombies attack they freakin punch or slap you! What the hell! If you were looking for Resident Evil action in 1st person, sorry no good here. If you were looking for mass zombie killin, sorry no good here either. This game was a dissapointment by far, i wish i could my money back. The graphics of the game are alright though, you can see the blood and gore, but it just still doesn't cut it. Overall, the game is just not worth it.
Way to easy and short

I didn't buy this game with very high expectations. The game only lasts a tad over 3 hours. Yes, you read right...3 hours! That's like paying 6 dollars an hour to play. The graphics are extremely old school (check out the specs on the box and decide for yourself); I felt I was playing The Thing, or an old and very slow version of Serious Sam. Otis, the AI character you run into during the game is extremely stupid...there are times when a zombie is standing nose to nose with him and instead of raising his gun and firing, he waits for you to take it out with your sniper rifle. I figured the game couldn't possibly be worse than the movie (and I LOVE Romero's work), but I was wrong. The music is monotonous, killing the zombies is like shooting fish in a barrel (not much challenge to it), and there are too many glitches to list here. I gave it 2 stars because it was not the worst game I've ever played, but definitely not on my top 10 list either. Wait for it to go to the jewel case bargain bin, folks. Don't say I didn't warn ya.
This game is just so-so

I'm a big, big fan of George A. Romero's movies and the zombie genre, so I was happy to find a game with a true zombie plot line. But, I was disappointed. I guess it was my fault for expecting much from a video game from a movie. I should have known to expect very little, and that's what I got. The graphics are mediocre, the sound is O.K., the action is simple, the AI is almost non-existent, the gameplay is basically walking through a giant maze and shooting stuff. I can compliment the "feel" of the game, as it was creepy and there were a couple of times when I actually jumped. But it took me less than 5 hours to finish the game on High difficulty. Not quite worth the $20 I spent.
